This is a senior role, reporting to the Head of Communications, Fundraising and Advocacy and working closely with the Fundraising and Communications Manager. Job description 

1. Developing and leading JRS UK’s parish engagement plan: 

• Strategic development of JRS UK’s long-term approach towards engaging parishes in our mission 

• Arranging and delivering fundraising appeals, talks, and engagement with parish groups 

• Ensuring that parishes supporting our mission are kept up to date with our work and opportunities to get involved 

• Building sustainable relationships with at least 20 parishes annually by year two

2. Expanding JRS UK’s outreach in the Catholic and wider Christian community: 

• Identifying and delivering opportunities to share our mission with others and involve them in our work including:

                  i. representing JRS UK at national events 

                  ii. leading our engagement with other Jesuit organisations and Catholic organisations such as the National Justice and Peace Network

                  iii. Producing resources tailored to different audiences such as Catholic youth groups, Justice and Peace groups, and non-churchgoing Catholics 

3. Leading recruitment of regular donors: 

• Utilising the opportunities outlined here to engage new regular/committed supporters

• Recruiting at least 120 new regular supporters annually by year 2

• Working with the Fundraising and Communications Manager on our process for welcoming and stewarding regular supporters 

4. Leading our challenge events programme: 

• Recruiting and stewarding our teams for the TCS London Marathon, London Landmarks Half Marathon, and Vitaly 10k ensuring all participants are supported, equipped, and celebrated 

• Keeping past participants up to date with our work and the impact of their support 

• Promoting opportunities for supporters to undertake their own fundraising events

• Raising a net income of £20,000 annually through challenge events by year 2

Other responsibilities  

• Working with the Fundraising and Communications Manager on our schools and universities engagement plan

• Ensuring good quality supporter records are kept in compliance with data processing requirements 

• Periodic management of interns or volunteers

Job description 

1. Supporter engagement: 

• Thanking and recording donations; maintaining up-to-date supporter records 

• Supporting outreach through JRS UK events such as our Advent Service and report launches 

• Representing JRS UK at external events such as Greenbelt festival or the National Justice and Peace Network conference 

• Undertaking talks and appeals in parishes or school

2. Digital and Offline communications: 

• Producing and distributing printed materials (e.g. quarterly newsletters; publicity materials; parish resources) 

• Maintaining and developing JRS UK’s digital presence (e.g. website; social media; e-updates) 

• Capturing and managing digital assets (such as audio, photographs, and videos)

• Developing content for JRS UK’s website, newsletters, and social media – scoping and drafting content that champion refugee voices, shares our work, or engages supporters in our advocacy 

• Analysing web traffic and social media engagement to inform future activity 

3. Appeals 

• Supporting the delivery of JRS UK’s three direct-mail appeals (Advent, Lent, World Day of Migrants and Refugees) and our annual legacy appeal by: 

  • Researching and drafting content 

  • Curating and segmenting data 

  • Sourcing and producing visuals 

4. Trust fundraising  

• Stewarding relationships with some small and medium sized trusts 

• Drafting and submiting grant applications and reports 

5. Other duties as required by the Communications and Fundraising Manager or Head of Communications, Fundraising and Advocacy

Role overview 

The purpose of the role is to assist some of the most vulnerable people in our society with immigration legal advice and representation. The focus of the legal work is on non-legal aid funded matters, representing people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and otherwise have no access to legal advice, to regularise their immigration status in the UK.

We are only considering applicants with relevant legal experience. Qualifications needed are IAA, IAAS or Solicitor with 1 year+ immigration experience. 

Key Responsibilities

Case management 

1. Manage own caseload, working to advance the best interests of the client
2. Adhere to standards set out by IAA/SRA
3. Provide advice and representation up to IAA level 2/3
4. Engage with the Line Manager to create and follow a training plan to ensure compliance with IAA CPD, keeping up to date with changes in law, policy and guidance to ensure clients receive accurate and high-quality advice
5. Liaise directly with the UKVI and related governmental agencies
6. Complete forms, letters and immigration applications 
7. Liaise with and refer clients to Legal Aid Solicitors or other advisers, as appropriate
8. Manage clients’ expectations by discussing deadlines, outcomes and timing 
9. Deliver legal advice outreach surgeries/drop in as and when required 
10. Progress cases in a timely manner in line with regulatory requirements

Role Overview:

This is a new role. The HR Administrator will play a key role in supporting the HR function, ensuring efficient management of HR systems, accurate record-keeping, and smooth onboarding and offboarding processes for staff and volunteers. This role also provides recruitment support, manages pre-employment checks, and assists with general HR administration.

The Billing Coordinator (Legal Aid) is a collaborative role and part of the Billing Project, an initiative by the London Legal Support Trust (LLST) aimed at providing specialist support to the free advice sector in London. 

Key purpose of the Billing Coordinator is to:

• Develop systems that ensure the smooth and efficient billing of legal aid for LRMN, Barking and Dagenham Citizens Advice and Cardinal Hume Centre.
• Provide a crucial coordination role within the organisations, supporting lawyers in ensuring files are billed promptly and accurately while maximising income from legal aid.

The Billing Coordinator will be employed by LRMN and work across three host organisations. You will collaborate with other coordinators in the sector, some of whom have participated in previous pilot projects. Peer-to-peer support will be available to the postholder, and specialist training will be provided to anyone looking to grow within the role.

Candidates must have strong IT and organisational skills with experience of working within a legal aid practice.

Release is seeking to appoint a Supervising Solicitor for Community Care— with genuine flexibility for part‑time or full‑time working — to help shape and expand our legal services at the intersection of social justice and community care law.

This role is particularly well‑suited to candidates seeking reduced hours, portfolio careers, or a position that allows for balance alongside caring responsibilities, or other commitments. The successful candidate will join a values‑driven organisation delivering high‑quality casework, innovative community‑based legal services, and strategic litigation aimed at systemic change.

Person Specification

Essential

• Minimum 4 years + post qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate, and
• Minimum 3 years + substantial experience in legal aid casework, supervision and/or compliance, and
• Minimum 1 year + experience of supervising others, and
• Experience in public law, housing law, and/or community care law within legal aid practice, and
• Strong commitment to social justice, harm reduction, and trauma-informed practice.

About the Role

The Supervising Solicitor for Community Care – Legal Aid is a key role in shaping and strengthening Release’s legal services. Working closely with the Joint Head of Legal Services and Executive Director, and in collaboration with other colleagues, you will supervise the delivery of high-quality legal advice and representation, supporting the growth of legal aid practice whilst ensuring Release continues to train and develop social justice lawyers for the future. 

We are looking for an experienced legal aid practitioner who is strongly committed to social justice and the legal rights of marginalised communities, and who wants to build leadership experience in a movement-led organisation. The role will combine hands-on practice, leadership, supervision and compliance responsibilities. 

Please note: We do not expect the postholder to generate legal aid income at a multiple of their salary. While we do aim to grow legal aid income across the team to an initial target of £15,000–£25,000 per annum, the focus of this role is on developing high‑quality legal aid practice and building sustainable income collectively, as part of a mixed‑income organisational model.

As Supervising Solicitor for Community Care – Legal Aid, you will:

• Support Strategic Development: Contribute to developing the direction and priorities of Release’s legal services, including expanding legal aid work and strengthening access to justice.

• Provide Practice Supervision: Support a multidisciplinary team of solicitors, legal advisers and volunteers to deliver excellent, trauma-informed legal support. Support and mentor team members on how to adhere to legal aid file compliance, time recording and CCMS applications.

• Ensure Quality and Compliance: Help ensure consistent regulatory compliance and quality assurance across legal casework, including legal aid requirements.

• Strengthen and Grow Services: Help develop and improve legal service delivery models, including responding to emerging needs and client priorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead IRMO’s Advice programme. As our Senior Advice Programme Manager, you’ll manage a dedicated team and oversee a range of initiatives that provide high-quality information and advice services to respond to the changing needs of our community.

The Advice programme provides trusted information, resources, advice and casework in Spanish and Portuguese on key areas of need, including immigration, welfare entitlements, housing and homelessness prevention. IRMO is accredited by the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) at Level 3. We are also members of Advice UK and receive second-tier support from Southwark Law Centre.

Alongside this, the programme works with local health boards to run initiatives designed to improve access to health services, such as HIV testing, sexual health and family planning advice and Chagas disease testing. You will also oversee IRMO’s Community Support service, which manages community enquiries daily at our Brixton centre and through our helpline, provides emergency crisis support and coordinates our Community Interpreting service, as well as connects service users with internal or external support.

These initiatives support people facing difficulties and help them build the skills and confidence to navigate complex systems. All of our work is shaped by the views of our beneficiaries, keeping our services relevant and responsive.

As Senior Advice Programme Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development of the Advice programme, ensuring our work is high-quality, impactful and responsive to the needs of our community. You’ll help grow the programme by strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ones.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring solid experience as both a project and line manager, with a track record of overseeing multiple initiatives, delivering against KPIs and communicating impact clearly. You’ll be confident in managing people and priorities, with a leadership style that brings out the best in your team.

You will have experience supporting women and children affected by violence against women and girls (VAWG), including undertaking risk assessment, safety planning and managing high‑risk cases. You will be confident working with people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage and skilled in effective multi‑agency partnership working. You will bring a strong understanding of domestic abuse, including the practical, emotional and financial impacts, alongside knowledge of housing, welfare, safeguarding for adults and children, and relevant policy. You will be calm under pressure, with strong crisis management, problem‑solving and time‑management skills, and able to manage and monitor a small service user welfare budget responsibly.

Would you like to use your clinical skills to lead a team who provide tailored psychological therapies to help improve the lives and wellbeing of survivors of torture and organised violence?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling psychologist or psychological therapist ​Clinical Lead to work with an innovative and friendly multidisciplinary adult team at our Glasgow Centre.

You will support a team of highly skilled and dedicated clinicians, in the service delivery of a range of NICE guideline recommended therapy interventions, offered to our clients, who are survivors of torture and organised violence. You operate as an integral part of the our Clinical Services Team. This is an exciting chance to join us as we place survivor empowerment and movement building at the heart of our strategy.

About the role

This is a wide-ranging position, and your key areas of responsibility will include:

• To supporta multi-disciplinary team, including paid staff and volunteers from different professions and disciplines and provide professional and clinical supervision to qualified clinicians and trainees in the service including, clinical/counselling psychologists.
• This role may also include providing remote clinical supervision, support and advice as well as line management and guidance around risk and safeguarding to clinicians across our other centres as required.
• To ensure that Freedom from Torture's clinical model continues to be fully rolled out, with particular emphasis on survivor empowerment and evidence-based practice for addressing PTSD and other mental health impacts of torture.
• Championing people development as well as influence delivery of evidenced -based practice, clinical standards, quality initiatives and audit-based services.
• To formulate psychological treatment and management plans for survivors of torture and to provide psychological treatment for a caseload, using a range of psychological interventions in line with our clinical pathway that draws on a range of evidence based models for the treatment of survivors of torture.
• Being an effective role model and leader to encourage, develop and enhance skills of others.

About you

This is an important role within Freedom from Torture. To be successful in this role you must have a high level of commitment to maintaining excellent standards of client care and service delivery. It is a key requirement that you must have knowledge of appropriate clinical standards and external regulatory bodies. You must also have sound financial awareness and experience of balancing the provision of quality care against budgetary parameters.

To be considered for this role you must fulfil the professional qualification section of the person specification. You must have professional experience of working with clients with complex PTSD and have post-qualification experience of using evidence-based trauma focused therapy models. It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum, both in terms of pre-flight experience and the experience of living in exile. You must have previous management and supervision experience and be able to provide demonstrable examples of how you have successfully led and influenced clinical teams within community or health care settings.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Advice Centre is central to our work. The advice we provide offers clarity and confidence. When people understand their circumstances, they feel safer. In moments of uncertainty, clear guidance can make a massive difference, and that’s why we’re here to offer support that helps our Visitors feel safe, informed and understood. This role administrates the operational service within the Advice Centre, triaging the needs of Visitors and coordinating Advisor and volunteer appointments.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• To coordinate the Advice Team’s appointments and schedules.
• To be the Advice Team Lead:
  • reviewing Advice Centre processes, and adopting appropriate changes to enhance service delivery
  • lead on daily briefs and monthly meetings with Advisors and Steps2Work Coordinator
  • report any issues or challenges to Operations Manager where necessary
• To quickly assess the needs of Visitors and decide whether they need to be seen urgently, or to book them an appointment.
• Lead the daily brief of Advice Centre volunteers to ensure that they are up-to-date with current issues, events and are familiar with advice processes.
• To ensure that volunteers are utilised effectively throughout the Advice Centre with support and guidance.
• To maintain Advice Centre record-keeping through the collection of Visitor data and input into our database (AirTable). Includes the creation of new records for newly registered Visitors. In addition, to ensure that personal information held about Visitors is checked for accuracy periodically.
• To ensure compliance with GDPR legislations and Harbour’s Data Protection Policy by ensuring Visitor information is not available to public view, and all documentation is safely and securely stored.
• Create information posters and signs for the benefit of Visitors and/or volunteers.
• Be the admin for Harbour’s Community and Volunteer WhatsApp groups.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Committed to the values and charitable objects of The Harbour Project.
• Reliable with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A good understanding and application of the principles of Safeguarding, particularly in relation to people at The Harbour Project.
• Proficiency in database management and maintaining accurate digital records as well as having basic IT skills, with the ability to use systems such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets and Drive)
• Evidence of entitlement to work in the UK.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

• Experience in assessing individual needs quickly and accurately to determine urgency and appropriate support pathways.

About the role

The KIU Night Support Worker (Waking Nights) is responsible for providing overnight welfare, safety, and practical support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children at the Kent Intake Unit. The role involves maintaining an active waking presence throughout the night, carrying out welfare checks, responding to immediate needs, issuing hygiene packs, and preparing refreshments in line with established procedures and safeguarding standards.

The postholder contributes to the Refugee Council’s mission by ensuring children receive safe, compassionate, and timely support during night-time hours. The role also requires flexibility to respond to fluctuating intake numbers and short-notice operational demands. The waking night shift pattern operates on a rolling rota and repeats every two weeks as showed above.

Contract and hours: Permanent, full-time, 35 hours per week.
