We are now seeking an Impact and Evaluation Manager to support the design and delivery of robust impact measurement approaches to evidence and evaluate the impact of Battersea’s work to deliver change for dogs and cats, enabling a culture of evidence-led decision making and continuous improvement.

Within this role, you will manage the collaborative and participatory design and development of frameworks and evaluation approaches for projects/programmes being delivered to achieve Battersea’s organisational strategy, including both charitable impact and enabling function projects and programmes.

About the role:

This is a leadership role with real weight — and real impact. As the Service Manager in our Shooters Hill service, you’ll lead an accommodation service supporting young people aged 16+ as they navigate housing, independence and what comes next. You’ll set the tone, hold the standards and champion a service that is safe, ambitious and unapologetically centred on young people’s strengths.

Your days will be a mix of strategy and presence. You’ll be visible in the service, backing your team to deliver consistent, high-quality, personalised support, while keeping a firm grip on housing management, safeguarding and performance. We’re recruiting an experienced and creative Youth Campaign & Programme Manager to lead the delivery of our national youth strategy and flagship Fearless campaigns. This is a leadership role within User Voice’s London team, managing two of our new flagship programmes focused on mentoring, volunteering, and community engagement for people with convictions. The Project Manager will lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of these initiatives, ensuring they meet strategic objectives and deliver meaningful impact for participants and stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone with lived experience of the criminal justice system who is ready to take the next step in their career or is already leading complex projects and managing teams and partnerships.

In this new role the Impact and Evaluation Manager will be critical to helping Bite Back demonstrate and strengthen the difference we make for young people, funders, partners, and wider society. You will lead the organisation’s approach to measuring, evaluating and learning from our work – ensuring that youth voice is at the heart of how we design, assess and communicate our impact.

You will manage Bite Back’s relationships with external evaluators, develop and track organisational KPIs, and work closely with programme and fundraising colleagues, trustees and funders to ensure we can evidence our outcomes clearly and compellingly. This role will also develop creative ways to tell the story of our impact – from robust evaluation reports through to case studies that bring young people’s voices to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Impact and Evaluation Manager is accountable for:

Strategy and Theory of Change

• Working closely with the CEO to lead Bite Back’s organisational impact strategy, including refining and maintaining our theory of change.

• Translating our theory of change into clear outcomes, indicators and learning questions that guide programme design, campaigns and organisational priorities.

• Designing and overseeing Bite Back’s impact measurement framework.

Data Systems and Standards

• Leading on the collection, analysis and reporting of both quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring that youth voice and lived experience shape Bite Back’s evaluation approaches.

• Supporting the development and monitoring of KPIs across the organisation, providing clear insights and recommendations to the Leadership Team.

Donor monitoring and evaluation

• Working with fundraising and programme teams to design robust monitoring, evaluation and learning plans for funding bids, including developing outcomes frameworks, indicators, and evaluation budgets that align with Bite Back’s broader organisational impact framework.

• Working closely with the Senior Grants and Fundraising Manager to ensure Bite Back meets its impact and reporting commitments to funders.

• Leading on the development of Bite Back’s annual impact report and supporting the production of  other compelling case studies, impact reports and evaluation outputs to communicate Bite Back’s effectiveness to funders, trustees, partners, the media and wider audiences

Building a Learning Culture

• Managing relationships with external evaluators, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard.

• Building evaluation capacity across the team, providing tools, training and support to colleagues to embed a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

• Embedding equity, diversity and inclusion principles in Bite Back’s impact and evaluation work, ensuring methods are inclusive, accessible and reflective of the communities we work with.

• Acting as a champion for a learning culture, communicating clearly and accessibly about impact, data and evidence, and supporting colleagues through changes to systems and ways of working.

• Staying up to date with best practice in youth-led evaluation, impact measurement and social change movements, and bringing innovative approaches into Bite Back’s work.

Research and Impact Manager

Location: Remote with flexible working arrangements. You will be expected to attend monthly team meetings in Bristol (with paid travel and subsistence). 

Salary: £38,584 - £40,000 per year FTE, dependent on experience

Contract: We are open to this role being part time (0.6 FTE or 0.8FTE) or full time. We offer fully flexible working.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a purposeful and proactive individual to work within a small (but growing), friendly and dynamic team in a varied role.

We are expanding our team and so we are looking for a Research and Impact Manager. This hands-on role would suit an insightful, evidence driven researcher and monitoring and evaluation specialist and who is a strong partnership worker. We are looking for someone who is willing to step up when something is needed and determined to see things through. 

You will need to enjoy working proactively and flexibly in a fast-paced environment, and have a logical, systematic approach, as well as excellent communication and IT skills. Our team works remotely, but there are also opportunities to co-work (depending on location). You’ll be encouraged and supported to grow and develop your research and impact evaluation skills and expertise within this role.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Warm Welcome Operations Director and wider team your primary responsibility will be to lead on research and impact evaluation to ensure that our strategic approach is driven by evidence. You would take ownership of specific tasks as required, including;

Research:

• Developing a research strategy for the Warm Welcome campaign to help to ensure we can meet our overall campaign strategy.

• Leading on the co-design of research projects to meet the needs of the Warm Welcome campaign and our partners. 

• Developing a research and insights hub for the Warm Welcome team where they can easily access the latest statistics on relevant topics such as poverty and loneliness.

• Supporting any individuals or organisations undertaking research on behalf of the Warm Welcome campaign to ensure it is of a high quality and rigorous standard.

• Ensuring high ethical standards and safeguarding are maintained in any research project related to the Warm Welcome campaign.

• Sharing the results of this research in reports and presentations where key evidence and learning is easy for others to understand 

• Offering training and support to the Warm Welcome team related to research.

Impact Assessment:

• Supporting the continuous development of our Impact framework.

• Leading the collection of high-quality data, via methods such as survey design, polling and qualitative interviews, with the wider Warm Welcome team and Spaces network to help us to monitor, evaluate, learn and develop our collective impact.

• Ensuring we collect data with Warm Welcome spaces at every stage of their journey in joining the network, i.e. when they register to join and at regular intervals once registered to ensure we understand their impact and their support needs. 

• Developing evaluation tools and systems to ensure the Warm Welcome team are easily able to capture evidence related to our impact framework.

• Offering training and support to the Warm Welcome team related to monitoring, evaluation, learning, development and impact assessment

• Leading on partnership work related to monitoring, evaluation, learning, development and impact assessment for the Warm Welcome team

• Being the go to person for key statistics and impact data within the Warm Welcome team to be used in our communications and reporting

Teamworking:

• Supporting the work of the wider Warm Welcome/Good Faith Partnership Team as capacity and need allows

Person specification

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience: 

• Strong track record of carrying out a range of relevant research projects, especially those involving community groups

• Experience of collaborating with others on research and evaluation projects

• Experience of developing and continuously improving tools and data for monitoring, evaluation, learning, development and impact assessment

• Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in qualitative and quantitative

methods

• Clear communication skills and experience of sharing research and impact assessment data in clear, concise and easy-to-understand formats for presentations and reports

• Experience in training and developing people’s skills in research and impact assessment

• Experience of contributing to and developing an impact framework

• Accurate and evidence-driven with a passion for ensuring research and impact assessments are completed to a high quality

Working arrangements

The Senior Evidence & Evaluation Manager sits within the Impact & Evidence directorate at the heart of Youth Futures Foundation.

You will play a central role in building the evidence base on what works to support young people into good jobs.

Working with three Heads of Evaluation, the Deputy Director and the Director, you will help ensure our evaluations are designed to generate credible evidence of what works.

• You will work closely with independent evaluators and delivery partners and colleagues in our Programmes & Grants and Policy & Communications directorates, you will assess the evaluability of interventions, and lead the design and delivery of large-scale, complex impact evaluations.
• You will manage a portfolio of projects, leading some directly, and overseeing others while supporting more junior colleagues.
• You will also contribute to strengthening our ‘evaluation architecture’, leading projects that enhance data infrastructure and access to administrative datasets, and set standards for methodological rigour in the sector.

Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.

We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost-effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and in the last financial year received US$147 million and, in our history, now over US$780 million. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.

AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.

AMF has been rated a top charity for all of the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell, Giving What We Can and The Life You Can Save who focus on impact and cost-effectiveness.

We are a team of 15 highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. All team members work remotely with constant communication between them. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 52 million nets to protect 94 million people for distribution during 2025 to 2027. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.

Role Description

Our activities and commitments are steadily increasing, with 2026 a particularly busy year with over 60 million nets planned for distribution to protect more than 110 million people, and the next few years will be similarly busy. In light of this, AMF is recruiting a Junior Operations Manager to join the operations team and to play an important role in ensuring the success of the net distributions. We are looking for someone with strong quantitative and analytical skills who enjoys working with data. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with scientific or numbers-oriented mindset, comfortable performing quick, high-quality analyses and communicating findings clearly.

The role will include involvement in all stages of a distribution campaign (pre-agreement, net procurement, post-agreement, during distribution, and post distribution) with a focus on two areas:

1. Data analysis - reviewing and analysing distribution, monitoring and malaria data to support decision-making
2. Operational work to support programmes, in particular across independent monitoring, net accounting and keeping internal systems up to date

Further information

Across the life of each distribution, AMF collects large amounts of data: household registration and distribution data, net transportation information, data from independent monitoring partners both during distributions and after distributions through post-distribution monitoring surveys conducted at 0, 9, 18, and 27 months. We also receive and analyse external data including population estimates and malaria burden data. These data are central to how AMF operates - it informs operational decisions, ensures we can track every net accountably from manufacturing site to household, and it also enables us to report to donors with confidence on where their nets went.

We are looking for a junior operations manager to support in two main areas:

1. Data analysis

This includes:

• Analysing distribution and independent monitoring data to:
  • Ensure data is sufficiently high quality
  • Work with monitoring partners to take quick action if operational adjustments are needed
• Working with the team to build systems enabling process automation such as data quality monitoring
• Providing ad-hoc analyses to support data driven operational decisions
• Maintaining an overview of results across countries to inform benchmarks and interpret new data
• Contributing to how we present and communicate our data, both internally and publicly. This includes summarising findings clearly and appropriately for different audiences.

2. Operational work to support programmes

This includes supporting the operations team through the stages of AMF’s programmes:

Independent monitoring

Tendering and contracting

• Sending documentation to bidding partners and receiving proposals
• Supporting budget comparisons and proposal review
• Drafting agreement documents and processing payments

Project management

• Supporting operations team and partners during data collection, drawing on the data analysis above to troubleshoot issues as they arise

Closeout

• Ensuring all reporting has been delivered (narrative and financial)
• Reviewing reporting, analysing final results and putting them in context of AMF's wider programme
• Analysing project spend against budget, proposing closeout payments and processing them

Net accounting

• Reviewing evidence of net deliveries and arrivals from in-country partners
• Checking nets were sent to locations in the quantities agreed
• Working with ops team members to flag discrepancies and support communications with partners
• After distribution, verifying and documenting nets distributed, leftover, lost or damaged Internal systems
• Keeping AMF's internal systems up to date
• Inputting and processing payments
• Ensuring distribution and project dates are up to date
• Updating the latest status for the nets for each distribution (in production, en-route to country, etc.)

There will be other significant work related to AMF Group Operations, dependent on the candidate’s skill set, such as assisting with documentation for tax deductibility, new AMF entities, and updating our website with blogposts.

Characteristics of the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who has strong intellectual and analytical skills, is a fast learner and who relishes the opportunity to develop their abilities. They will work collaboratively, building strong relationships with the AMF team and in-country partners. The ideal candidate will be motivated to help improve the lives of those affected by the wider impacts of malaria.

Required

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets, identify patterns, and present findings succinctly. Comfort with statistical concepts (e.g. sampling, variability, precision)
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships
• Highly confident in Excel
  • Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages for data analysis is a plus
• A self-starter who is highly organised with the ability to work independently and manage working time effectively
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills
• Comfort in dealing with and learning about financial matters, willing to examine and compare budgets in detail
• An interest in driving down malaria rates through procedure changes and the use of technology
• Fluent English

• French language ability
• Experience with data analysis tools beyond Excel (Python, SQL)
• Background in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, science, engineering)

Reporting to a senior member of the operations team.

Location: Remote working (all the AMF team work remotely) within UK/Europe time zones.

The cost of any co-working office space will be covered by AMF. If not a UK resident, part of the first three months may be spent in the UK working with the Operations team.

Initial salary: £28,000 to £35,000
