Our Fundraising Team
Battersea’s multiple award-winning Fundraising department raises around 60% of the Charity’s total income. Through continued investment, net fundraising income has risen from just £100,000 in 2010 to £10m in 2019, and we will continue to grow our income to make sure Battersea can be here for every cat and dog now and in the future.

IChemE has an exciting vacancy for a Technical Knowledge and Policy Officer.
Reporting to the Learned Society and Policy Manager, you will work closely with the Learned Society team and liaise with scientists and engineers, academics and industrialists, government and other institutions on a broad range of topics related to chemical and process engineering.
You will work directly with our network of expert members to develop tools to disseminate knowledge and good practice both to members and non-members.
You will have a degree in chemical engineering or a relevant science or engineering discipline with interest and/or some experience in the chemical process industries and policy. You will be comfortable working with volunteers to develop output and have a desire to really make a difference.
Key responsibilities of the Technical Knowledge and Policy Officer role include:
- Support the Learned Society Committee and the development and delivery of projects carried out by the learned society. This includes the development of relevant resources for other members and external customers that are aligned with IChemE’s strategy and priority topics.
- Support the newly formed Research and Innovation Community of Practice

The Role
Reporting to the CEO you will provide visionary leadership to the fundraising team and develop a growth strategy. You will oversee an established individual giving program and expand philanthropy and community fundraising activities to capitalise on the broad support for stronger climate action within Australian society and internationally.
Key focus areas will include:
- Bringing innovation and business acumen to ACF’s strategy for community fundraising
- Demonstrating inspiring and collaborative leadership within the ACF executive team
- Leadership and developing a high performing fundraising team
- Overall responsibility for fundraising income and driving growth across all streams
- Representing and fostering ACF’s key values and global award-winning culture
Skills Required
You have established a highly successful career in fundraising, ideally within progressive supporter-led organisations – or within revenue focused roles in digital technology businesses.
A leader in your field, you are a creative thinker who has grown diverse programs or portfolios through developing and implementing innovative projects and campaigns.
Ideally, you bring proven experience in building philanthropic relationships and/or business partnerships that have delivered sustainable business growth.
As a senior manager you have a collaborative, action-orientated, encouraging style demonstrated by the success of high performing teams you have worked with previously.

Head of External Relations
We have an exciting new role for an experienced leader to drive the external marketing communications and income generation for a new division within the charity.
Position: Head of External Relations
Location: Flexible as homeworking supported
Salary: Circa £40 - 45k dependent on experience
Hours: Full-time
Duration: 12 months Fixed Term Contract (becoming permanent if funding allows)
Benefits: 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and 5% Employer pension contribution

About the Role
There is a great deal of untapped potential for a proactive leader to unlock and the case for support has never been stronger. The charity has a high-profile patron, highly active trustees, dedicated staff and a newly appointed CEO who is passionate about education and the development of young people.
This new, senior role brings together external relations and income generation and is an amazing opportunity for someone to build on a strong existing portfolio with an excellent team. In particular, the Head of External Relations will be responsible for an integrated External Relations Strategy and its operational delivery that includes:
- Marketing, profile raising and public relations (on and offline)
- Income generation (Local Authority level, fundraising and partnerships)
- Public Affairs/Policy PR and campaigning
- Membership marketing
- Research and Impact evaluation
About You
The Head of External Relations position is an exciting and challenging role, at the heart of an agile organisation with a strong record and reputation, with the potential for real and profound change for children and young people. You will have direct experience of working across a broad range of the specialist areas of responsibility identified above. If you lack specific personal experience of working in a particular area, you will be asked to demonstrate evidence to support your potential to do so and an understanding of the factors that will drive success.
You will have experience of:
- Hands on strategic and operational delivery of digital/social media, PR and Public Relations campaigns
- Leadership and mentoring
- Successfully working with Trustees/senior partners and at Board level
- The education sector
As Head of External Relations, you must be able to lead in a rapidly changing internal and external environment to ensure the charity can maximise opportunities and manage the challenges it faces.
