What we are looking for:
Job Title: Senior Philanthropy Officer
We’re looking for a confident, capable fundraiser to play a key role in major-gift fundraising – helping to secure transformational support from high-net-worth individuals.
You’ll manage your own portfolio of prospects and donors, contributing across the full fundraising cycle: prospecting, cultivation, making direct asks, closing and stewardship. Alongside this, you’ll support the development of relationships with wealth advisers to generate referral leads, while also prospecting independently for major gifts.
The ideal candidate will be excited to build networks of wealth managers, private-client teams and other advisers to HNWIs, and to convert adviser introductions into committed support. You’ll complement this with proactive outreach to identify and engage new major donors beyond existing referral channels.
To succeed, you’ll develop strong fluency across three distinct fundraising pitches: a business case for advisers; an impact case to persuade donors to support our portfolio charities; and a systems-change case to win backing for GRP’s operating costs (salaries, office costs, etc) to keep the charity running fee-free.
You’ll be comfortable making direct asks for funding, ideally with experience of securing significant gifts or multi-year commitments. You’ll be hands-on in day-to-day fundraising activity and able to manage multiple relationships and priorities effectively.
You’ll thrive in a small, fast-moving team—taking initiative, being collaborative, and contributing to shared goals. Crucially, you’ll care deeply about climate and nature.

What you will be doing

Person Specification - Essential:
• Minimum three years’ experience in managing, developing, and enhancing membership, volunteer, or customer services.
• Understanding and awareness of individual and club membership within a sporting environment.
• Experience in setting goals, targets and measures, and subsequent implementation plans, particularly in relation to commercialisation & CRM development
• Comfortable operating in a fast-changing and challenging environment with excellent people/relationship management skills and the ability to influence and engage.
• Track record in the successful management of budgets, volunteers and staff, including their ongoing development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Along with appropriate IT skills, specifically Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• To be resilient and able to demonstrate leadership, and have experience operating at a management level.
• Experience of writing high-level reports, policies and strategies, particularly in relation to the practical implementation of good governance within a national sporting or third sector organisation
• Experience using insight and research methods to help better understand customer or membership behaviour, and apply learnings to improve future work
• A demonstrable understanding of the need to co-produce/collaborate with stakeholders and the impact of the same.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of amateur boxing, including technical rules and competitions.
• Experience of managing sub-committees, focus groups and/or consultations in a voluntary, sports or customer service environment
• Be able to demonstrate creativity and the instigation and production of innovative and cost-effective development programmes.
• Hold a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
• The role will require travel throughout the country for meetings/events and work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends (as required).
• Experience in developing grassroots sports projects. This includes writing and developing grant funding applications.

The role
To provide a comprehensive, professional and confidential Personal Assistant (PA) role to the Head of Activist Learning and Development, through the provision of efficient and effective secretarial, administrative and project administration duties, while working flexibly and collaboratively to support the wider team.
