Job description

The role of Technical Specialist, Partnerships & Organisational Development, Arctic, offers the opportunity to help shape a new, community-led Arctic Initiative from its earliest phase. Unlike established projects with predefined workplans, the focus at this stage is on listening, relationship-building, scoping and co-design. You will work directly with partner organisations in Norway and Greenland to understand local priorities, capacity needs, barriers and aspirations, and to help translate these insights into early programme strategies, pilot activities and locally-led pathways for action.

You will play a key role in developing and supporting partnerships with Indigenous-led and locally led organisations working on the stewardship of Arctic marine and coastal ecosystems. Working closely with the Arctic Initiative Lead, you will help partners identify and address organisational priorities, coordinating tailored organisational development, mentoring and technical support that strengthens their ability to deliver locally led conservation. You will also help connect partners with wider expertise, funding opportunities and networks, ensuring Fauna & Flora’s support complements existing initiatives and responds to partner-defined priorities. As part of a small and nimble core team, you will help ensure development of the Arctic Initiative remains grounded in partner perspectives while connecting local priorities with wider regional and international opportunities. The role requires curiosity, cultural sensitivity, practical problem-solving, and confidence working in situations where direction is still being shaped.

You will bring to the role strong capacity-building, organisational development and mentoring skills, along with significant experience tailoring your support to different contexts and needs. You will be an excellent relationship-builder, able to establish trust, listen deeply, and work with humility across diverse cultures and perspectives. With excellent facilitation skills, you will confidently lead workshops, structured conversations, and consensus-building activities. You will demonstrate sound judgement and effective problem-solving, backed by effective organisational and time-management skills. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, and additional Arctic-relevant language skills, such as Greenlandic (Kalaallisut), North Sámi, or Norwegian, would be an advantage.

In return, the role offers the opportunity to work within a ground-breaking and entrepreneurial organisation, at the forefront of global conservation, and to help shape an ambitious initiative at a formative stage. In addition, Fauna & Flora offers a generous pension contribution, attractive annual leave allowance and life insurance. This position is based at Fauna & Flora’s Cambridge office, with partial remote working within the UK, to be agreed between the post-holder and line-manager.
