We have a new role available for a Young People Support Worker to work as part of a team delivering an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported or community based accommodation based in Bishop Auckland County Durham.

About the Role

As Young People Support Worker you will work under the direction, guidance and support of a Service Manager and an Assistant Area Director, you will be responsible for a caseload of clients as well as share responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service.

The accommodation service is based in Bishop Auckland County Durham. You will ensure that the accommodation is properly maintained and support the client to sustain their tenancy and participate in positive and successful move on. You will be responsible for a caseload of clients as well as shared responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures as needed.

• Act as key worker for a caseload of clients, leading on risk and needs assessments and SMART, outcomes-based support plans.

• Provide personalised, flexible, and creative support, involving clients in decision-making and encouraging participation in activities.

• Collaborate with external agencies to support clients, adhering to data protection and information sharing protocols.

• Support clients to access Education, Training, Employment, and Volunteering opportunities aligned with their goals and aspirations.

• Contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, including preparing accommodation for new clients and supporting their transition.

• Assist in coordinating and supporting volunteers and promoting client involvement initiatives and residents' meetings.

• Maintain clear, accurate records and participate in team rotas, including evenings and weekends, carrying out additional duties as required.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• Experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness.

• Understanding of the needs of individuals facing homelessness, mental health issues, substance misuse, or the care system.

• Knowledge of risk assessments, support planning, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures.

• Strong literacy, numeracy, IT skills, and commitment to diversity, equality, and professional integrity.

• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, work collaboratively, and reflect on practices for continuous development.

The Role

Reporting to the Engagement Lead, the Engagement Officer will work with colleagues across the locality to deliver against planned activity and building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. About the role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced one full-time Caseworker IAA level 2 or above to join our Casework Team and directly support our clients by advising and addressing issues including immigration, asylum and holistic matters. The successful candidate will also take the lead on our newly implemented fee charging service.

We are looking for an experienced and methodical caseworker who is able to prioritise cases competently and confidently follow the processes already in place. You will be working at our Reading or Newbury office and be available to do outreach work as and when required.

Key areas of responsibility include:  

• To provide competent IAA level 1 and level 2 Asylum and Immigration advice, specifically to, undocumented persons, asylum seekers and refugees in Berkshire area.
• Casework includes supporting service users with initial asylum applications, fresh claims and supporting with actions following refusal.
• Casework under the fee charging service would include running immigration applications including extensions/renewal of leave to remain.
• You will be able to manage your own caseload and oversee the current casework team providing supervision and guidance on processes.
• Adhere to casework procedures as outlined in the office manual and the IAA standards where applicable.
• Conduct all tasks permitted under the direction of your manager with competence.
• Lead on the continuing development of our new fee charging service.
• Interview clients sensitively and professionally to enable them to explain their problems.
• Keep updated with legislation, case law, policies and procedures relating to immigration, welfare benefits and housing advice issues.
• Participate in team & staff meetings and other relevant meetings and events.

Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive funding to expand our reach, particularly increasing accessibility to our service for clients living in the Waverley area.

We are seeking a psychologist with passion for the natural world and there is great potential for the psychologist to lead on areas in which we seek to develop and expand. The post-holder would be closely supported by the psychology team, as well as the wider team, to do so.

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature.  We deliver ‘Nature Prescriptions’ to adults (aged 18+) referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.

Our Dose of Nature Prescription is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing.  Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team.

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical 

• To carry out psychological assessments of clients referred to the service, to reach a psychological formulation of the client’s difficulties and understand their wider contextual needs, and to support those clients throughout their journey with Dose of Nature, offering ad-hoc support where needed.
• To subsequently pair clients with an appropriate volunteer Nature Guide who then delivers the Dose of Nature Prescription.
• To review clients at the end of their Dose of Nature Prescription and ensure that those clients who would like to and / or need to, maintain connection with Dose of Nature by attending groups, social events, and through ad-hoc support.
• To maintain relationships with GP practices and other referrers, and to inform them of client progress.
• To support the Clinical Lead to offer workshops and presentations to other agencies, professional colleagues and in the wider community.
• To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, staff members and volunteers contributing to a client’s recovery.
• To undertake risk assessment, formulation, and management of clients and to provide advice to the Dose of Nature team on psychological aspects of risk assessment, formulation, and management.

How are staff supported to work remotely?
