About the role

The Trusts & Foundations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable income growth for Emmaus UK through strategic relationship management, compelling funding proposals and the development of a strong pipeline of new and existing Trusts & Foundations supporters.

Working collaboratively across Emmaus UK and our wider federation, the post holder will identify funding priorities, develop fundable projects and deliver excellent stewardship and reporting to secure long-term support for the organisation’s mission and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will pride themselves on detail but also be energised at the prospect of engaging with funders directly as they build strong, meaningful and lasting relationships, both with our existing portfolio of grant funders in addition to new prospects.

We are seeking our first employee—a visionary Director of Operations—to build our operational infrastructure from the ground up and turn our strategic vision into a highly impactful reality.

The Role

As our first hire, you will be a key part of the operational architecture of the charity. Working closely with the Founders, you will help transition the organisation from a newly approved legal entity into a fully functional, compliant, and active campaigning force. This is not a role for someone who just wants to manage existing systems; it is for a builder who also wants to create them.

The Director of Operations is a pivotal senior leadership role within the organisation, responsible for creating the operational backbone of the organisation. This role ensures that the organisation’s systems, people, suppliers and processes operate smoothly, safely and compliantly, enabling high-quality delivery. The Director of Operations will provide strong day-to-day operational leadership and discipline, freeing the Founders to focus on strategy, partnerships and organisational growth. The postholder will be highly organised, practical and accountable, with a strong focus on implementation and follow‑through.

You will have demonstrable experience of managing complex operational systems and will have proven experience of workforce planning, operational delivery and implementing organisational change. • Information Governance: Establish secure data sharing, privacy frameworks, and GDPR structures for future collection of sensitive patient and clinical data.
• Strategic Scaling: Manage third-party vendors (legal, IT, Associate contractors etc) and eventually support building the infrastructure for future recruitment.

About You

• Experienced: You have at least 5 years’ experience of operational management within the UK charity sector of the NHS, the pharmaceutical industry, or healthcare regulation (e.g., MHRA, NICE).
• A "Builder": You thrive on both teamwork and autonomy. You have a proven track record of setting up systems, policies, and teams from scratch.
• Governance Savvy: You have a solid understanding of UK charity law, compliance, and financial frameworks.
• Locally Based: You live within 25 miles of Camberley, Surrey, allowing for regular, in-person collaboration with the Founders.

About the role

This role is based from home with a requirement for occasional travel to venues across the region to attend Team Days and other meetings as required. You will be working Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

As a Triage & Early Intervention Officer, you will be:

• talking to people on the telephone from a variety of different backgrounds, all with different experiences. No two days are the same & you will need to use your communication skills and resilient nature to help those dealing with trauma and the effects of crime, who may have gone through a life-changing experience.
• working within a small supportive team that is part of a large independent charity which offers the opportunity to develop skills to enhance your ongoing personal development.

Previous experience in a similar role would be helpful but is not essential as you will receive robust training prior to working directly with clients. You will also receive ongoing support to ensure that you can provide victims with quick responses to meet their needs and help them cope and recover.

About Help 

Help Counselling is well-established mental health charity. We believe everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, and have been providing affordable, short- and long-term talking therapies for over 50 years.

Whether clients are seeking relief from anxiety, stress, depression or other challenges, we are here to help. We offer counselling services to those over 18, both face-to-face in central and west London and online. Our approach is client-led and holistic with no reliance on algorithms for client allocation. Instead, we take care to achieve the best match possible between client and counsellor. 

We are a placement provider: providing training placements for clinical supervisors, counsellors and psychotherapists who need to gain clinical experience to qualify (or further qualify) and be registered with one of the industry professional bodies such as, BACP or UKCP.

The work undertaken by trainee counsellors and psychotherapists is unpaid - they volunteer their time. This volunteer-driven model enables Help Counselling to fulfil its mission of offering affordable counselling services to those in need. 

We also cater for clients who prefer to engage with a qualified counsellor through our Help Counselling Plus service for quality therapy at a fraction of the cost of private practice fees. This service is typically delivered by newly qualified counsellors and provides a supported transition into private practice. 

We have a small, friendly staff team of 5, a diverse team of circa 100 trainee and qualified counsellors and a team of supervisors and assessors. We support around 200 clients at any time with weekly sessions. 

About the role 

The Clinical Assistant will support the Clinical Manager in the running of our counselling service. The role will primarily involve managing our trainee counsellor placements but extends to all aspects of the clinical service as required.  The role is advertised as 2-3 days per week, to be discussed. The role is primarily remote with requirement to attend occasional meetings and events in west and central London.

Role Responsibilities: 

• Manage the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of suitable trainee counsellors for volunteer placements in accordance with agreed standards and controls and Help policies and procedures. To include candidate selection, interview, onboarding, induction and training. 

• Manage forecasting to ensure counsellor numbers satisfy client demand and consulting room availability.

The Sheppard Trust provides homes for older women in housing need, and we support them to live independently.  We reduce loneliness and isolation by fostering a supportive community spirit.   

We're about to move to brand-new, purpose built accommodation near Hampton Court village in Surrey, with 60 one bedroomed flats and a range of communal facilities.  Our residents will live independently in their homes, with assistance to access the appropriate support services to maintain independence.We want them to live full and active lives in an inclusive, thriving community which is well regarded in our local community.

We’re looking for someone proactive and flexible to help us for the first six months, as we set up the building, set up our new systems, and move everyone in.  This will be a really varied role where no two days are the same, and will be a mixture of administration and practical tasks.  You could be getting our staff kitchen set up, preparing the paperwork for a new resident, helping someone set up their heating controls or utility accounts, setting up and updating databases, answering queries at reception, logging maintenance tasks or helping with an event.

You might well have some housing experience already, or have worked with older people, but we also value transferrable skills, lived values and the ability to learn quickly.

We're looking for a talented and experienced copywriter who can create compelling, accessible content that inspires people to support Shelter or seek help when they need it most. Working closely with our Creative team, you'll take projects from concept through to completion, developing strong campaign ideas, writing for a wide range of channels and audiences, and presenting your thinking clearly to stakeholders. You'll produce and edit both long and short-form copy, ensure all content reflects Shelter’s brand and tone of voice, and maintain the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail. As a senior member of the team, you'll also lead mid-sized projects, support and mentor copywriters, and help bring complex information, stories and data to life in engaging and impactful ways.

Context and Background

Our award-winning Creative Team sits within the NSPCC's Communications directorate. We're made up of creatives with design, writing and film production expertise. We create campaign and marketing identities, concepts, and materials, across all channels and for all audiences. We mainly work across three brands -- NSPCC, Childline and NSPCC Learning.

Our team has a broad skillset, covering creative strategy, ideation and delivery. We provide consultancy, art direction, planning, tone of voice guidance and copywriting across print and digital. So whether our colleagues are promoting a fabulous new fundraising event, introducing one of our frontline services, or kickstarting a new national campaign, our team is on hand to offer expertise.

As our new Senior Writer, you'll play a fundamental role in making sure the work we put out is as engaging and impactful as possible to a wide range of audiences.

Job purpose

The Senior Writer will be a highly talented communicator with substantial expertise in creative copywriting, branding and communications, preferably with experience in the charity sector.

You'll work on a wide range of creative briefs that might see you writing copy for print, digital, film, social media or web, based on briefs that come in from teams across the NSPCC. You'll also share your knowledge and expertise through workshops and consultation with internal teams and external agencies.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Creative to drive the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of our marketing and communications, making sure we’re talking to our supporters and the people we help in the most effective way possible. A large part of this is continuing to increase the use of plain English across the organisation.Finally, you will develop and lead strategy relating to copywriting, core messaging and tone of voice for the organisation. And as a senior member of the team, you'll help guide and mentor more junior colleagues.

• Reports to the Head of Creative.

• Is a key part of the senior Creative team and the wider Brand and Marketing department.

• Works collaboratively with all teams across the organisation to ensure creative excellence and brand integrity.

• Liaises with external professionals e.g. freelance writers, agencies, filmmakers.

• Develops links and shares best practice with peers within the UK charity sector.

• Establishes networks with industry opinion formers, media and other stakeholders.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Develop verbal brand identity – through copywriting, core messaging and tone of voice guidance – across the NSPCC and Childline.

• Work with the senior Creative team to agree and deliver client projects from initial concepts through to the finished product, in line with our department’s annual business plan.

• Explore and develop creative concepts and help push the boundaries of the creative direction and output of the NSPCC, working closely with the Head of Creative and senior team.

• Pitch concepts and finished copy to commissioning teams, in line with brief objectives and the NSPCC brand.

• Make sure creative collateral across NSPCC and Childline marketing and communications is consistent and of a high standard.

• Partner with teams across the charity that create content, offering expert advice and creative solutions relating to brand and tone of voice.• Work effectively with other Communications colleagues to make sure we complete projects on time and in budget.

• Support junior team members, and contribute to the growth and personal development of communications team staff through supervisory, coaching and mentoring activities.

• Identify and provide long-term strategic solutions to the NSPCC’s editorial and copywriting needs, and fulfil them by working with the Head of Creative and senior team.

• Develop high-quality writing standards for the NSPCC, including style guides and training, with a focus on increasing the use of plain English and inclusive language across our work.

Person specification

1. Substantial experience in a copywriter role in either an agency or in-house team, with demonstrable ability of working across a broad range of briefs.

2. Proven ability to communicate and present confidently and clearly to senior stakeholders and clients.

3. Enthusiastic about embedding EDI principles across all areas of copywriting and in our wider communications work.

4. Experience working with and creating brand guidelines.

5. Experience guiding and mentoring junior team members.

6. In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of current trends and best practise in marketing, advertising and communications.

7. Highly collaborative and focused on creating a collaborative team spirit.8. Solid understanding of copywriting and editorial across environments including social, web, film and online advertising.

Oak National Academy is a fully remote organisation with over 100 employees and up to 200 freelancers and partners who depend on our systems every day.

We are looking to engage an experienced freelance IT Support Specialist to deliver a defined programme of access management, systems administration and compliance work as we grow.

The focus of this engagement is to ensure our core systems are well-managed, auditable and secure, and that staff and freelancers are well supported in their day-to-day use of them.

The appointed freelancer will bring their own expertise and approach to shape how this work is delivered, working to agreed priorities and timelines, and collaborating closely with Oak colleagues.

This is a remote UK-based role, carried out on an Oak-managed device.

Scope of work

The freelancer will be responsible for delivering the following outcomes:

● Provision of first-line and second-line support across agreed IT workflows, ensuring requests are resolved efficiently and appropriately escalated where required. 

● Monitoring and managing our MDM for hardware and software alerts. 

● Delivering agreed access, provisioning and deprovisioning activities associated with onboarding and offboarding processes.

● Hardware and software troubleshooting across the organisation. 

● Monitoring and managing Google Admin alerts. 

● Effective day-to-day administration of access and permissions across Oak's core systems. 

● Collaborating with the IT & Data Security Officer on IT operations projects.

Experience and expertise

We are interested in hearing from freelancers who can demonstrate:

● 3+ years' experience in IT systems or infrastructure roles, where systems administration, access management and security were a core part of the work. 

● Strong, hands-on expertise in Google Workspace Admin, including user management, groups, permissions and security settings. 

● Experience using MDM platforms and remote support tools. 

● A careful, trustworthy and improvement-focused approach, with a strong appreciation of security, accountability and collaborative working.

● The ability to work independently and take ownership of delivering agreed outcomes. 

● Confidence working within a small, remote team and collaborating effectively with colleagues.

● Google Workspace Admin certification is desirable but not required. We are most interested in practical experience and how you approach the work, so formal certifications are not essential to apply.

Tools and access

We will give you access to all the systems you need to carry out the work. The core tools you will be working with are Google Admin and the Google Suite, NinjaOne, Slack, Notion, 1Password and NordLayer.

We will provide an Oak-managed device (Windows and macOS) for the duration of the engagement. Given the level of system access this role involves, we require all work to be carried out on this device. We will handle device setup and system access before you start, so you are ready to go from day one.

Ways of working

This engagement is offered on a self-employed basis. You will work closely with the IT & Data Security Officer to ensure alignment, share progress, and agree priorities throughout the engagement period. 

Next steps

You'll answer some questions - some short ones relating to admin and then four discipline-related ones. After the task closes, your answers will go through our sifting process: all answers will be anonymised, randomised and then reviewed by a panel of reviewers.
