Job Purpose
The post holder will provide administrative support across several key functions of the department, focusing mainly on clinical job description approval and sourcing of volunteers to attend appointment panels across the UK (Advisory Appointments Committee), quality improvement initiatives, and committee administration.
Main responsibilities
AACs and Job Planning
- Responsibility for administration of the College’s Advisory Appointments Committee and ophthalmologist job planning advice service and Coordinating volunteers to attend Advisory Appointment Committees (AACs)
- Administering the approval process for UK ophthalmologist job descriptions (c. 150 a year), assigning work to relevant Council Representatives and supervision of the progress of approvals to meet the average 3 week turn around
- Providing general advice and guidance to stakeholders on job descriptions in accordance with the agreed job description guidance
- Department document management and archiving including documents on the RCOphth website, managing document status spreadsheet used by department team and comms team
Quality Improvement (QI)
- Support the QI Manager and QI Coordinator in the delivery of the College’s QI workstreams
- Provide administrative support for the delivery of the RCOphth Review Service
- Support the coproduction of guidance documents with members e.g. scheduling meetings, proofreading and formatting documents
- In conjunction with the QI team, support delivery of the National Ophthalmology Database audits by answering queries, administration of the sign-up process for participating centres and invoicing process
Departmental Administration
- Providing support to other members of the team as and when required including responding to queries
- Liaison with other College Departments to ensure members and other stakeholders’ experience of any interactions with the College is proactive, positive, and efficient
- Administering department committees e.g. appointments for chairs and committee members, scheduling meetings, agenda setting, minute taking and following up on actions

About the role:
The Senior Director of Finance is the most senior finance professional at Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH). The role provides strategic financial leadership and ensures the organisation meets its fiduciary, regulatory, and governance obligations as a UK charity, while enabling responsible growth and global scale.
Acting as the organisation’s senior finance lead, the postholder will support the CEO and Board of Trustees to meet their statutory duties under UK charity law, including duties of care, prudence, and accountability, while building robust financial systems aligned to PLH’s 2026-2028 Strategic Plan and country implementation model.
The role ensures that PLH’s resources are used exclusively to further its charitable purposes, safeguarded appropriately, and managed transparently in the public interest.
Responsibilities:
Charity Governance, Fiduciary Oversight, and Trustee Support

This high-profile role will shape the long-term vision for face-to-face acquisition across both cause-led and lottery products, driving sustainable growth and building meaningful supporter relationships. You’ll oversee a hybrid in-house and agency model, manage multi-million-pound investment, and ensure the delivery of exceptional and compliant supporter experiences across the UK.
Working closely with senior leaders across Individual Giving and the wider organisation, you will champion the role of Direct Dialogue in the supporter journey, influence strategy, and lead integrated projects that enhance loyalty, value and organisational impact. You’ll provide highly visible leadership to field-based teams, ensuring alignment, innovation, and a culture rooted in inclusion, wellbeing and performance.
To be successful as the Head of Direct Dialogue you will need:
- Extensive experience leading large-scale Direct Dialogue programmes, including in-house and agency face-to-face fundraising.
- Strong strategic and operational leadership skills with the ability to integrate programmes across Individual Giving and wider income streams.
- Deep knowledge of compliance requirements including the Code of Fundraising Practice, Gambling Commission regulations, GDPR and safeguarding.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills, with experience motivating and supporting field-based teams.

About Care4Calais
Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.
In the UK, we collect and distribute clothing, shoes, mobile phones, and other essential items, alongside offering social support and access to legal, medical, and educational services. In northern France, we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside local communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding, and services to displaced refugees living in challenging and dangerous conditions.
All of Care4Calais' operations are supported by a small, dedicated staff team, who supervise large volunteer teams to provide critical support to asylum seekers and people on the move in both the UK and France.
About the Role
Care4Calais is recruiting an Operations Support Assistant to support its humanitarian operations in the UK. You will join our team in a remote and part-time capacity, offering regular steady online support delegated by our Operations Support Officer for the UK.
The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, IT-competent individual with strong written communication skills to offer ad-hoc support to a busy team - a team which registers UK volunteers, responds to incoming queries from the public, and manages ongoing administrative tasks for Care4Calais’ UK-based operations.
Having an understanding of the asylum system within the UK, and therefore the environment that our volunteers work within as they support people that are seeking sanctuary here, is useful for the role. You will receive a thorough induction, and work alongside experienced team members.
Key Responsibilities

Provide core operational support for Care4Calais’ operations in the UK alongside the UK Operations Support Officer and team of admin volunteers.

Communicate with and register new volunteers joining our work, both virtually and on the ground, across the UK.

Liaise with the public via email by responding to new incoming enquiries.

Manage volunteer data as part of the registration process and store it appropriately, in-keeping with GDPR and Care4Calais policy.

Navigate the spreadsheets and CRM systems used by our teams for volunteer information storage and management.

What you would be doing
You will be responsible for improving existing processes, monitoring and analysing system use and developing new data solutions so that the University’s business practices are enhanced, building strong collaborative relationships across the University to achieve this. You will also contribute the design and delivery of training programmes, producing accessible documentation and monitoring database use across the University to ensure it is consistent and accurate.
What we are looking for:
- Extensive experience of using all aspects of BBCRM or a similar fundraising CRM

With 16 beds and a short-stay model focused on planned moves within 28 days, this service is about momentum, opportunity and change.
