Why work for CARE International UK?
CARE International is a global humanitarian organisation leading the fight to end poverty in the world’s most challenging situations. Women and girls are at the centre of our work, because we cannot overcome poverty and inequality until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We know that when a crisis erupts, women are often the first to pick up the pieces, so we work alongside women, so they have the power to make change where it’s needed most. Founded in 1945, CARE currently works in over 100 countries and last year alone reached 53.4 million people through nearly 1,500 projects.
About the role
This is a unique opportunity to shape CARE International UK’s international development and humanitarian action at a time of shrinking aid budgets, growing humanitarian need, increasing attacks on women's rights and rising pressure on civic space. Like a challenge?
As a member of CARE International UK’s Senior Leadership Team, you will lead our programmes, policy, advocacy and institutional funding portfolio, driving impactful change for women and girls worldwide. With passionate and highly capable teams you will play a critical role in securing major institutional funding, advancing locally led and gender-transformative approaches, and ensuring CARE remains at the forefront of development and humanitarian innovation. You will oversee a powerful UK influencing agenda, using CARE’s evidence and expertise to shape government policy, donor priorities and public debate, while serving as a senior ambassador for our work with donors and policy targets. You will also help shape strategic priorities across the global CARE Confederation and provide leadership to our humanitarian portfolio.
About you
We're looking for an inspiring and strategic leader with significant experience in the international NGO sector, a strong track record of securing and managing institutional funding, and experience delivering impact through local partners and complex federated networks.

You will build high-performing teams, influence senior stakeholders and translate ambitious strategy into meaningful impact.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative and strategic leader, committed to fostering an inclusive, anti-racist and feminist organisational culture. If you have the experience we need, are passionate about gender equality, local leadership and creating lasting impact for women and girls, we'd love to hear from you.

About us
The Earthshot Prize is the world’s most impactful and prestigious environmental award. At the heart of our mission is a simple equation: Urgency + Optimism = Action
Inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s moonshot challenge, The Earthshot Prize is designed to mobilise a decade of action for the planet. We identify, celebrate, and back ambitious climate leadership from every corner of the globe. From Indigenous communities to city leaders, entrepreneurs to governments, they are all working to solve our planet’s greatest challenges.
We focus on five key Earthshots: Clean Our Air, Fix Our Climate, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Protect and Restore Nature. Each year, we select a group of 15 Finalists and award 5 of them £1M each to help advance or replicate their work and recognise their achievement and potential.
The Earthshot Prize is about more than recognition, it’s the world’s most ambitious network connecting innovators, funders, businesses, and communities to back climate leaders and restore confidence in our ability to save the planet.

Working collaboratively, the postholder will partner with colleagues across The Earthshot Prize and, where appropriate, our Trustees. As new Founding Partners are secured, the postholder will also manage and deliver selected key relationships. The focus will be on identifying new prospects and establishing high value, multi-year relationships with new Founding Partners. These partnerships will be genuinely collaborative with Earthshot, delivering shared goals for both the partners and the Prize and bringing expertise, networks, and talent to support both the Prize and our Finalists. The postholder will additionally secure sponsorship or other funding for key annual events or special projects that provide sponsorship opportunities throughout each year.

Our vision is a country where cross-sector leaders come together to deliver social and economic outcomes, with the mission to become UK’s leading authority on cross-sector collaboration. For over 40 years, we've convened senior decision-makers across government, business and civil society to drive collaboration, innovation and impact.

This is a highly varied role combining programme leadership, business development, stakeholder engagement, customer service and commercial accountability. It presents an opportunity for you to shape WIG’s talent exchange offer at a time when the government is going through considerable transformation.
