Team background

The Human Resources team sits within the Operations Directorate, led by the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role reports directly to the Head of People & Culture, who is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and ensures that people, culture, and inclusion are embedded at the heart of the charity’s strategic and operational priorities.

Job purpose

This role partners closely with the Head of People & Culture, and senior stakeholders to lead the transformation of Toynbee Hall’s people strategy and implement its EDI strategy. Scope of role

The People & Culture Partner will provide expert support across the full employee lifecycle from attraction and recruitment, to onboarding, development, performance management, and exit. This role will support senior leaders in driving values-based leadership, building, HR capability, and fostering a culture of performance, inclusion, and wellbeing.
In addition, the People & Culture Partner will play a key role in workforce planning, leveraging data and insights to inform decision-making, and ensuring that HR processes are effective, compliant, and centred on the needs and experiences of people.
The key focus for this role will be to support all employee relations case load with the guidance of the Head of People & Culture.

Essential Criteria:

• CIPD Level 5 minimum.
• Proven track record in HR/People roles, including managing complex employee relations cases (grievance, disciplinary, absence and performance management) providing guidance to managers and supporting individuals through processes.
• Experience managing payroll processes, either directly or through outsourced providers, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end recruitment, including role scoping, advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection.
• Experience designing and delivering onboarding and induction programmes that support new staff to integrate effectively and feel engaged from the outset.
• Experience of drafting HR policies and procedures and conducting gap analysis on HR systems.
• Experience supporting managers and advising through consultation processes such as TUPE and/or redundancy.
• Strong organisational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and a commitment to developing organisational culture to ensure inclusion and diversity.

• Experience working in a unionised environment and demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

• Experience working in a similar role within the charity or non-profit sector is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, with the ability to determine business goals and suggest ways to achieve them through HR initiatives.

Journey and Cross Sell Manager

The Journey and Cross Sell team sits within the Content and Conversion team in the Marketing and Communications capability. The main focus of the Journey and Cross-sell manager will be:

· Developing engaging email and multi-channel journeys to help people hear better now, protect the nation’s hearing and change public attitudes towards deaf people

The Democratic Progress Institute (DPI) is an independent non-governmental organisation established in consultation with international experts in conflict resolution and democratic advancement. DPI seeks to promote peace and democracy building through strengthened public dialogue and engagement.

Overall Purpose of the Position

The Head of Programmes is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the organisations’ project activities and leads the DPI Programmes team, also ensuring a close working relationship with Finance, Fundraising and Operations colleagues. The role works with the CEO on operational, fundraising, strategic and monitoring levels and also involves representing DPI at external meetings and events as needed.

Project Management

• Coordinates the day-to-day operational management of the DPI’s programmes, including the implementation of activities and financial matters– in close coordination with relevant colleagues.
• Monitors the implementation of project activities and ensures compliance with the strategic framework as well as internal procedures and policies including financial and administrative.
• Facilitates programmes and events meetings (including designing the agenda and overseeing the organisation and preparation of materials)
• Manages performance of programmes’ team both Türkiye and UK.
• Organises regular meetings with the Programmes team to ensure project plan is on -track.
• Keeps an up-to-date overview of programme delivery, reports any challenges, and suggests solutions to the CEO.
• Builds project budgets with Finance, monitors project expenditures, develops financial strategies and addresses financial challenges.
• Monitors the political and security situation in Türkiye and the wider regions, developments relating to the conflict and impact on the project.

Reporting

• Works closely with the Funding and Development Manager to ensure timely delivery and monitoring of contractual reports, including interim and final reports to donors.
• Ensures that projects are implemented and reported in a timely and qualitative manner.

· Follows up with the team and gathers the reporting of meetings.

· Oversees deliverables and performance of the M&EE and Communications consultants.

Network

• Represents and promotes DPI’s work in varied contexts and maintains relationships with external stakeholders in Türkiye and in Europe such as political party representatives.
• Builds and maintains relationships with partners and donors alongside the Funding and Development Manager when needed.
• Carries out frequent visits to Türkiye and maintains a good working knowledge of the facts on the ground when needed.

Project Development

• Translates strategy into operational objectives and develops project/fundraising proposals including concept notes and narrative project proposals in conjunction with Funding and Development Manager.
• Identifies operational developments needs and develops corresponding opportunities and initiatives.

· Supports the CEO in strategic developments related to the project.

Key Experience/Technical Competencies/Knowledge required for the position.

The successful candidate should have the following

§  A postgraduate degree in Political Science, Law, Conflict Resolution, International Relations, or a related discipline is highly desirable.

§  At least 8-10 years’ experience in project management in charity or NGO setting.

§  Experience directly managing a team including remotely.

As Company Secretary, you will also support excellence in governance by ensuring War Child meets its statutory and regulatory obligations, including compliance and reporting to the Charity Commission, Companies House and the Fundraising Regulator.

This is a hybrid role, with two days per week expected in the London office and up to three days per week working remotely. Occasional additional office attendance may be required to support meetings or key organisational activity.

This role supports Kate Varah, as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Co-Chief Executive (EAED), providing proactive, discreet, senior-level support within a busy office and theatre environment.

The EAED will support Kate in delivering their role efficiently and effectively, focusing on significant and complex diary management to ensure smart and strategic prioritisation. They will source and / or draft correspondence, research notes, speeches and briefings as needed; develop, implement, and maintain systems as necessary; arrange local, national and international travel; co-ordinate the sector-wide leadership network that the NT provides administration support to; support a collaborative and values-driven working atmosphere within a dynamic environment.

As an engaged and diplomatic communicator, they would act as first point of contact for all matters relating to the ED, working in partnership with colleagues in the Directors’ Office, Senior Leadership Team, and more widely across the organisation, as well as with artists and external parties. The EAED would be trusted to support or lead on projects as required, and act as an effective bridge for all relevant communications to ensure Executive awareness and involvement as necessary.

• Experience in an assistant role within an Executive-level environment (corporate or charity sector)

The opportunity

We are recruiting two part-time Project Officers to support the Together for Tomorrow Project, a five-year National Lottery-funded programme supporting grassroots climate action across Devon. Working in close partnership with Libraries Unlimited, you will support delivery to new and established grassroots groups who are working, or seek to work, with libraries, helping communities to develop practical climate initiatives and inspiring libraries to become active sustainability hubs.

You will support the creation of toolkits, training and new activities, while also supporting monitoring and reporting. The role blends hands-on delivery and behind the scenes support to groups.

This role sits within the CAG (Community Action Groups) Devon team, a network that supports community groups to take action on reuse, repair, food waste, composting, biodiversity and wider sustainability issues. CAG provides the tools and support that groups need to thrive, including training, resources, and opportunities to connect with others. Your role will contribute to the consolidation of the network and its membership across Devon. 

The role can be worked flexibly across 3 days a week. This will include some work during evenings and weekends.

You will be expected to travel widely across Devon, and this will be reimbursed. Whilst we promote public transport where possible, due to the rural nature of the county a current full driving licence with own transport, and necessary business use insurance, or ability to travel easily around Devon County is required.

What you will be doing 

Day to day project support 

· Helping groups run initiatives and activities at libraries, and at other community spaces, supporting with event planning and engaging diverse audiences.

· Supporting groups to set up and get started, or to develop new activities. 

· Responding to enquiries from CAG groups and other organisations. 

· Co-ordinating training and events.

· Attending CAG events and planning meetings.

· Building and maintaining partnerships with grassroots groups, libraries and underrepresented communities. 

· Assisting with group and event risk assessments, insurance documents, safeguarding policies and other related administration. 

· Creation and dissemination of guides and resources to support the projects. 

Publicity and communications 

· Generating content and building online audiences for social media and CAG Devon’s regular newsletter.

· Assisting groups with effective publicity for their events, including 1-2-1 social media clinics. 

· Producing publicity material, news releases, stories/case studies and articles relating to the Together for Tomorrow Project. 

· Speaking in public about the Together for Tomorrow Project, CAG Devon and the work of its members.

· Working with the CAG team to promote and deliver events.

· Liaising with the wider CAG team to ensure a coherent CAG support offer to grassroots community groups across Devon.

· Working with the Library Unlimited Outreach Officers to promote events.

Administration

· Liaising with and supporting groups, and gathering documentation, as part of the membership joining process. 

· Logging communications with groups and partners in the CAG database. 

· Keeping mailing lists and database up to date.

· Monitoring projects, utilising tools such as Excel, SurveyMonkey and the CAG data collection tool.

· Supporting with quarterly and annual reporting. 

· Assisting the project team with any other administrative tasks that they require. 

· Supporting groups to use the CAG data collection tool, to help them demonstrate their impact.

· Collecting data and testimonials/stories from CAG groups and the general public.
