About the role 

Are you an experienced and knowledgeable programme manager with a passion for supporting charities and under-represented communities to advocate for change?

Media Trust is looking for an experienced programme manager to lead on the delivery of two new communications capacity-building programmes - one focusing on charities tackling health inequalities and another focusing on people affected by the No Recourse to Public Fund (NRPF) immigration rule. Both programmes are aimed at enabling participants to safely and effectively engage with the media and advocate for change. You will be working directly with charities, communities and individual participants on both these programmes. You will also work with external trainers and media industry volunteers to deliver the training and related support. 

Each programme will involve recruiting a cohort of storytellers, working with a series of external trainers to deliver workshops around understanding and engaging with the media and facilitating peer support workshops. You may also be required to lead small roundtables or convene meetings with sector partners as required. 

Media Trust will be partnering with charities working on health inequalities and supporting migrants to deliver this work, including recruiting storytellers from across our networks and partner organisations as programme participants.

You will be responsible for designing and agreeing the delivery calendar with our funders and other key partners.You will also manage the recruitment for, and delivery of, these programmes. The outline training content has already been agreed - this role will involve working with trainers to ensure content is relevant to the needs of the cohorts and the objectives of each programme. You will also design and facilitate a series of monthly peer support sessions to support participants’ learning on the programmes. You will also manage impact evaluation for the programmes including designing and collecting responses to pre- and post-programme surveys from participants and sharing insights and learning from the programmes to help Media Trust design new work in these areas. 

You will also support with other programmes and activity across Media Trust’s Charity Services team as required.

Key responsibilities 

Programme Management and Evaluation 

• Programme Management: Oversee the launch and delivery of the programmes ensuring all activity runs to schedule and on budget 

• Training Coordination: Plan, recruit and deliver training for programme participants and liaise with trainers, ensuring content is well-suited to the needs of the cohorts and the programmes’ objectives 

• Participant Engagement and support: Recruit and engage programme participants, encourage participation and retention, support any accessibility needs and ensure the training aligns with participants’ needs and expectations

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic leadership and planning

2. Community and events fundraising delivery

• Lead the planning, delivery and growth of a portfolio of community fundraising initiatives and challenge events, both in person and online.
• Ensure a consistently high-quality supporter experience across all community and events activity.
• Oversee web content and digital resources to support community and event fundraising
• Identify and develop new fundraising opportunities that align with Bipolar UK’s mission, values and supporter base.
• Act as an ambassador for Bipolar UK at key events when required.

3. Volunteer fundraising offer

• Develop a clear, accessible and motivating events and community fundraising volunteer offer.
• Design and implement an effective volunteer induction process, ensuring fundraisers feel confident, supported and well-equipped.
• Work with colleagues to ensure volunteer fundraising activity is aligned with safeguarding, wellbeing and organisational policies.

4. Digital campaigns and income growth

• Lead on the planning and delivery of digital-led community and events fundraising campaigns.
• Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop supporter journeys, content and communications that drive engagement and income.
• Develop approaches to grow connected income streams, including regular giving and in-memory giving, through community and digital activity.
• Monitor performance, assess impact and report clearly on outcomes and learning.

5. Supporter experience and stewardship

• Ensure supporters are stewarded with care, empathy and professionalism, recognising the personal connection many have to bipolar.
• Oversee thanking, updating and re-engagement activity to build long-term supporter relationships.
• Ensure accurate and compliant use of the CRM and fundraising data.

6. Team leadership and organisational contribution

• Line-manage and support the Fundraising Officer and Supporter Engagement Assistant, providing clear direction, coaching and development.
• Create a positive, supportive and high-performing team culture focused on impact and learning.
• Oversee income and expenditure for the community and events portfolio, monitoring budgets and performance against targets.
• Contribute to organisational planning, cross-team working and the development of efficient systems and processes.

About the role

The People and Culture Business Partner provides senior operational leadership for employment policy, employee relations, and compliance across staff, volunteers and sessional workers, ensuring that the organisation’s HR frameworks are legally defensible, consistently applied, and aligned with organisational values. The postholder leads on complex ER casework, develops and maintains HR policies, and ensures that redundancy, redeployment and performance management processes are fair, transparent, and compliant with statutory requirements.

The role provides assurance that workforce planning, role design and job evaluation outcomes are legally sound; that recruitment, onboarding, and mobilisation frameworks meet safeguarding and equal opportunities obligations; and that volunteer and sessional worker policies are compliant with Investors in Volunteers and employment law. About the Service

The Community Outreach Worker plays a vital role in delivering the Physical Health Checks programme for individuals with severe mental illness (SMI). This position focuses on engaging hard-to-reach individuals, facilitating health checks in healthcare settings, community settings, and supporting follow-up care to enhance physical health outcomes. The post holder will collaborate with health professionals and stakeholders to reduce health inequalities and promote recovery

About the Role

The role ensures that individuals with severe mental illness receive timely and effective physical health checks, overcoming barriers to engagement and supporting continuity of care. The post holder will provide proactive outreach to improve health outcomes, promote engagement with primary care and support individuals to access and sustain appropriate health and community-based support.

The post holder will manage their workload independently, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure high standards of service delivery. They will also contribute to monitoring and reporting to support the success and sustainability of the Physical Health Checks programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the Physical Health Checks programme
• Target and engage individuals on GP mental health registers who are difficult to reach
• Deliver physical health checks in healthcare and community settings, supported accommodation, day centres, and through home visits
• Follow up on health check results and liaise with GPs and social prescribers for onward referrals
• Support clients to access follow-up appointments and ongoing physical health treatment
• Provide one-to-one support tailored to individual needs (in person, via telephone, or email)
• Signpost and assist access to relevant health and wellbeing services
• Facilitate effective liaison between families and professionals, including GPs
• Hold a caseload of clients with SMI, delivering support through home visits and community-based interventions
• Monitor and review the safety and wellbeing of clients on a regular basis
• Maintain accurate documentation including participant notes and data required for monitoring and reporting
• Actively promote the service through GP practice meetings, events, and outreach activities
• Build and maintain effective relationships with health care professionals and community partners to support referrals
• Collect feedback from participants to improve service quality
• Encourage and support clients to access volunteering opportunities that build skills, confidence, and community connection
• Embed a person centred and solution focused approach in all aspects of the role
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients

About the Role

This is an exciting role that will lead the successful growth and delivery of the Smart Works Pop Up Shops and sales, other fundraising events and the community fundraising programme. Managing the Events and Community Manager(s), you will work closely with the Wardrobe and wider Partnerships Team to deliver exceptional events, raise vital funds and secure stock for clients and fundraising. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust strategy of Pop up shops and Sales, Events and Community Fundraising, to generate £800k+ of in-year income, and bolster future financial and community engagement opportunities.

The candidate will also work closely with the Head of Wardrobe and Retail Partnerships Manager, growing partnerships with retail brands which support Smart Works’ activities.

We seek a Head with experience in delivering end-to-end events, as well as demonstrable experience of fundraising through retail activations. An ability to work under pressure, deliver to tight deadlines, juggle conflicting priorities and exceed set targets will be key.
