The Head of Finance’s key priorities, in close collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, are to lead and support the strategic and annual financial planning processes, and to prepare and analyse accurate and timely financial information for the Board of Trustees and the Directors of the Trading Company, ensuring compliance with all external financial reporting requirements.

Main Duties:

1. To provide an effective and accurate financial management and accountancy service to the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company.

2.   Prepare annual budgets and monitor performance on a monthly basis against plan by the preparation and issue of monthly budget statements.  Make recommendations on costing assumptions to be included within all budgets. For example, inflation rates.

3. Support the strategic direction of the business by leading on the preparation of 5 year financial forecasts to support strategic planning and to ensure the long term financial viability of the business. 

4.   Prepare and maintain financial accounts in a timely fashion and ensure they are consistent with external financial reporting standards and requirements.

5.  Provide monthly financial information to the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company.

6. Prepare cash flow reports on a regular/quarterly basis and monitor cash requirements and advise the Board of Trustees, Directors of the Trading Company and Executive Leadership Team on the liquidity position of the business.

7.  Provide advice on all financial matters, including issues arising in connection with charity legislation, to ensure that the business meets its legal financial obligations and complies will all external regulatory requirements.

 8. Liaise with H.M. Revenue and Customs and VAT consultants regarding records and payments and ensure compliance with all regulations.   

9. Ensure the provision of a monthly payroll service and ensure delivery of an accurate, reliable and quality payroll service to all staff.

10. To liaise with all regulatory external bodies in connection with any financial or charity matters, i.e. auditors, accountants, bank, solicitors, Charity Commission, Companies House, insurance company, pension advisors and others.

11. Annual completion of the Charity Commission self-assessment, ensuring that we comply with best practice. 

12. Attend the meetings of the local networking groups as required.

13. Review and monitor performance of the business’s investments and provide up to date reports to the Board of Trustees, enabling them to make appropriate investment decisions.

14. As part of financial reporting, complete regular analysis of all income and expenditure, supporting budget holders as required to identify areas where cost savings and efficiencies can be made.

15. Support in the preparation of business cases as necessary across the business.

16. Support in the preparation of benchmarking information to assist in the determination of opportunities to improve the organisation’s financial position.

17. Support the business’s efforts to maximise income from all sources providing financial information and attending committees and other forums as required to assist in this.

18. Develop and maintain an asset register of all property across the business. Ensure capital accounting policies are agreed annually by the Finance Committee. 

19. Ensure appropriate financial procedures, financial governance and policies are in place across the business and ensure they are regularly reviewed and appropriate. 

 20. Ensure good systems of financial control and checks are in place for all assets. 

21.To manage and support staff in the Finance Department, ensuring they have the right knowledge and skills to carry out their duties effectively.

22. Ensure that all members of the leadership team (ELT and SLT) and the board have the necessary knowledge and support regarding financial matters including the provision of training if necessary.

23. Attend committees and key meetings  to present relevant financial information at the request of the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company.

 Performance Standards:

1. Annual income and expenditure budgets are approved annually and monitored monthly.

2. Management Accounts are aimed to be completed within 10 working days of month end and available for the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company.

3. Regulatory requirements are met as and when they fall due.

4. The provision of an accurate and reliable set of annual financial statements.

5. Meet with statutory and external organisations in a timely and professional manner.

6. Quarterly VAT returns, Annual Corporation Tax returns and other statutory returns are submitted in a timely manner.

7. With regard to financial records and reporting, to comply with and meet the standards of the Care Quality Commission.

8. Completion of all Charity Commission regulatory requirements.

9. Ensure that we have robust financial systems in place for all assets and liabilities incorporating monthly reviews of creditors and debtors.

10.  Ensure financial information requirements of the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company are met in a timely manner. 

11. Ensure that the business has financial systems and processes in place that will comply with regulatory requirements for healthcare services. 

12. Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team participating in all relevant meetings contributing where possible, to the achievement of business objectives.

13. To take rotational responsibility as Out of Hours Duty Manager, if required.

14. Provide advice, support and information to the Executive Leadership Team; Board of Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company on financial matters enabling the business to meet its objectives.

General Duties:

1. To liaise with Head of Human Resources to advise, where necessary, on all salary and pension matters, keeping up to date with changing legislation.

2. To communicate with the banks, HMRC, Department of Work and Pensions and all other relevant external bodies regarding all pension, tax and National Insurance issues.

3. To liaise with all Senior Leadership team colleagues to ensure payroll data is accurate and kept up to date.

4. To liaise with the Head of Fundraising in matters relating to fundraising income and expenditure and the fundraising and lottery database, ensuring that any information is an accurate reflection of income and expenditure.

5. To liaise with the Head of Retail in matters relating to the trading company’s income and expenditure, ensuring that all information provided is accurate.

6. To verify that insurance cover is appropriate and adequate for the various business functions and to ensure that it is kept up to date.

7. To ensure that there is compliance across the business with financial statutory regulations and internal financial policies.

8. Ensure that there is a robust information governance regime across all financial matters across the business.

9. To undertake and manage the annual appraisal process for the Finance Team, identifying any training and development needs.

10.  Ensure that all members of the Finance Team attend mandatory and statutory training as required and that evaluations are undertaken to monitor effectiveness.

11. The post holder will adhere to all relevant legislation and policies of the business.

12.  Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Executive Leadership Team, the Boarof Trustees and Directors of the Trading Company.

About MediCinema

MediCinema is a unique national, UK registered charity that improves the wellbeing and enriches the quality of life of NHS patients, their families and carers through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. We achieve this by building and running cinemas in hospitals and places of care equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment, and providing free films and activities for patients of all ages. Our services help to improve emotional, mental and physical health, reducing isolation, anxiety and stress, and increasing patient resilience to help them cope with what they’re going through.

Our purpose-built in-hospital cinemas are designed to accommodate patients in hospital beds and wheelchairs, on drips or with monitors. Patients are looked after by trained volunteers who accompany them to and from the cinemas, and by two nurses who are present at each inpatient screening. In addition to our regular inpatient screenings, we run Tailored Screenings for specific patient communities, working closely with the patients and clinical teams to co-design experiences that meet the specific needs of each group. We also routinely hold personal screenings for patients who are unable to mix with other patients, are receiving palliative care or are in other sensitive situations. We also run our varied Beyond the Big Screen programme that extends the impact of our services to outside the film screenings, including specially-designed MediCinema activity books, arts & crafts and special character or talent visits. Finally, through our long-standing strategic partnership with Disney, we also design and provide activities on wards and in the MediCinemas as part of our expansive and impactful ‘Moments that Matter’ (MTM) programme.

The Role

We are looking for a Cinema Manager to build and run our brand new service based in the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). The MediCinema will be located in the MRI, but will serve patients from across the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, including the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. 

The post-holder will build their team of nurses and volunteers and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.

We will run a minimum of four regular inpatient screenings each week – exact screening numbers, times and dates to be agreed with all stakeholders, but will include evenings and weekends. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of the regular inpatient screenings.

The role offers a unique, exciting and extremely rewarding opportunity for someone interested in a service delivery role at the heart of our charity, involving direct contact with the patients and families we support.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

The role of the Cinema Manager is essential to ensure the effective and safe delivery of our service. The Cinema Manager is responsible for all operational aspects of the service. This includes ensuring screenings happen on schedule and as planned, recruiting and managing volunteers and nurses, and developing relationships with a variety of hospital staff and departments to ensure the service is widely promoted and utilised, and to work together on developing Tailored Screening groups and identify candidates for Personal Screenings.

The position would be part of the larger cinema managers team (all of whom operate remotely at various hospital sites) and report to the National Cinema Manager who is based in our central office in London. This position would suit someone who is self-motivated, wants a varied and interesting role and has an interest in film, healthcare and helping to improve people’s wellbeing.

Service Delivery

• Deliver a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings so the role requires regular evening working.
• Be responsible for:
  • Marketing the service throughout the hospital, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.
  • Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.
  • Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are screened to the highest technical standards at all times. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.
  • Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly, and that consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.
  • Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required
• Collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s
• Support with arranging and running any special events and special screenings
• When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with particular hospital departments and patient groups.
• Manage the local development and roll out of different Tailored Screening patient groups, plus any other potential new type of screenings we embark on.
• Support the delivery of our ‘Beyond the Big Screen’ bedside services, including our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.

Nurse & Volunteer Management

• Build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include managing recruitment and creating monthly rotas.
• Work closely with Voluntary Services Department of the hospital about all the checks and training required for volunteers.

Marketing and Relationship Management

• Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, and building key relationships with hospital staff and our partner Manchester Foundation Trust Charity.
• Develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community.
• Represent the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.
• Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include supporter events, live performance and other relevant activities.

Administration and other duties

• Provide holiday or emergency screening cover when required.
• Manage the collection, loading and returning of films.
• Champion the work of MediCinema within the hospital and cinema environment, as well as confidently and positively representing MediCinema in all interactions and at any meetings and events, including supporter visits.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the Manchester MediCinema, operations and MediCinema as a wider organisation
• Communicate effectively with all team members, ensuring an inclusive and whole organisation approach

• Undertake other tasks, projects and duties as reasonably required.

Job summary:

You will set both strategic direction and deliver hands-on activity, overseeing all fundraising streams, communications, digital platforms, and supporter engagement. You will develop integrated strategies that maximise limited resources, grow sustainable income, amplify our impact and ensure the charity communicates with clarity, consistency, and purpose.

• Use communication and marketing techniques to amplify the impact of our services and increase our reach, ensuring maximum take up.
• Oversee the charity’s website, ensuring strong user experience, accessibility, SEO performance, and conversion optimisation.

5. Campaigns & public engagement

• Lead fundraising, awareness and media campaigns across digital and traditional channels.

Job summary:

The Head of Communications, Marketing & Digital is responsible for shaping, delivering, and evaluating the charity’s communications, brand, digital engagement, and marketing activity.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising & Communications, the postholder plays a pivotal role in growing the charity’s profile, strengthening engagement, and ensuring all communication channels, platforms and content are effective, accessible, and aligned with organisational goals.

In a small charity, this is both a strategic and hands-on role, requiring creativity, strong digital skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key responsibilities and duties:

1. Communications & brand

• Lead the delivery of the charity’s communications strategy to increase visibility, trust and engagement.
• Manage and protect the charity’s brand, ensuring consistency of messaging, tone, and visual identity.
• Oversee and produce high-quality content for website, newsletters, reports, blogs, case studies, and information materials.
• Support the Director in developing campaigns that unite messaging, fundraising, marketing, and advocacy.

2. Marketing & supporter engagement

• Lead marketing activity to grow audiences, increase engagement, increase participation in our services, and support fundraising objectives.
• Work closely with colleagues to create compelling campaign assets, supporter journeys, and integrated marketing plans.
• Develop marketing materials, key messages, and digital assets that support awareness, engagement, service numbers and income growth.

3. Digital leadership

• Oversee the charity’s digital ecosystem, including website, email marketing, social media and CRM integrations.
• Ensure digital content is accessible, user-focused, streamlined and optimised for engagement and conversion.
• Fully review website development and maintenance, including UX improvements, analytics, SEO, and content.
• Oversee data-led insights and dashboards to measure digital performance and inform decision-making.

4. Media & public relations

• Build media relationships and respond to press requests in coordination with the Director.
• Draft press releases, statements, Q&As, and key messages for external audiences.
• Support reactive and crisis communications, ensuring timely, accurate responses and reputational protection.

5. Internal communication & collaboration

• Support effective internal communication, ensuring staff team, Program Facilitators and volunteers are informed and engaged.
• Work collaboratively across teams to gather stories, insights, and content that bring the charity’s work to life.
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues on communications, brand, and digital best practice.

6. Other

• Manage agency and supplier relationships where relevant.
• Stay informed about sector trends and emerging tools that could benefit the charity.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential experience

• Significant experience in communications, marketing and digital roles, preferably within a charity or mission-driven organisation.
• Proven track record of developing and delivering digital and communications content across multiple platforms to multiple audiences.
• Experience managing websites, CRM systems, email marketing tools, and social media channels.
• Demonstrable experience in audience engagement, digital analytics, and campaign performance measurement.

Blue Cross is seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Philanthropy to lead and make an active contribution to our High Value Fundraising project, a key initiative designed to grow our future income. You will support in the delivery of the 2026 Philanthropy plan across trusts, foundations, and high-net-worth individuals, with a particular focus on the High Value Fundraising project. We are recruiting sessional assessing social workers to undertake Form F assessments .  Our assessments are undertaken face to face. Applicants should be able to travel across the North West for assessment visits to prospective foster carers. Travel will include the following areas.

Key Duties for Form F Assessors include:

• To undertake and complete Form F assessments in the timescale set out in our policy and guidance.
• To visit personal referees as identified on application form for prospective foster carers.
• To ensure that all checks and references are undertaken and completed.
• To provide to the supervisor, regular written updates of the draft assessment.
• To liaise with our administrative team concerning the progress of administrative checks and completion of the Form F.
• To be available for supervision, consultation or liaison as required.
• To be available to present completed Form Fs to the virtual fostering panel and provide support to the applicants through this process.
• To be aware of our child protection procedures and immediately report any child protection matter or concerns to a TACT manager and any relevant placing authority and the area authority.
• To carry out the duties in line with our Foster Carer and Supervising Social Worker Standards and Practice Guidance.

Rates of Pay for Form F Assessors

• We will pay £2250 (inclusive of VAT) + up to £500 bonus payments (if criteria are met) upon submission of a successfully completed Form F Assessment.
• £37.50 per hour for assessments which are not completed, and any other piece of work.

The post-holder will be based at GMRC but work alongside TRC and MASH women’s services and work within the pathfinder partnership, across all partner organisations, providing high quality, evidence based, low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based interventions using a guided self-help model, to clients with who have experienced sexual trauma but also have additional mental health needs.

Job Purpose:

To support the delivery of WIPs housing programme in Manchester and Trafford, with a focus on women coming into contact with the police and women being released back into the community following a period on remand, providing trauma-informed specialist support to improve housing outcomes for women affected by the criminal justice system.

1. To deliver an effective housing intervention for women impacted by the criminal justice system.
2. To develop effective relationships with key stakeholders, such as housing departments, court-based and prison teams, to ensure a collaborative approach to women’s accommodation needs.

The post-holder will be based at GMRC but work alongside TRC and MASH women’s services and Greater Manchester Pathfinder partnership, with service users who have experienced sexual trauma but who present with additional complex mental health needs.

They will work with service users in partner organisation settings and in the community, working collaboratively with individuals, carers and partners from local multi agency providers and services, to assess and identify social care needs that may be potential barriers to the client being able to address their sexual trauma.

The post-holder will provide guidance, leadership and consultation on social care legislation and policy to the team and to other areas of mental health services, including joint working where appropriate.

They will contribute to developing and maintaining high standards of decision making and professional practice in the field of social work.

The post-holder will be responsible for a caseload of service users under the care of the Pathfinder Partnership, supporting them in their recovery journey.

They will provide specialist social work interventions to service users and their carers / families, and involve them in all planning, helping to develop social resilience, motivation and daily living skills.

Support Coordinator

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Stroke Recovery Service based in the North Lincolnshire area.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

Position: S11333 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, North Lincolnshire. However, frequent travel will be required as part of this role (this will include the need for regular home visits and may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week

Salary: Circa £16,400 per annum (FTE circa £27,435 per annum)

Contract: This is a fixed term contract until 30 September 2026, covering an internal secondment.

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes.

Reporting to the Stroke Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Support Coordinator will:

• Making introductory calls to stroke survivors and carers, identifying their needs and their desired support pathway through the service.
• Delivering an effective service in line with case management principles ensuring that confidential and accurate records are kept on the CRM database.
• Organise and deliver community engagement activities such as awareness events and service presentations to promote the service and raise awareness of stroke and its risk factors
