Following a period of growth and the completion of their new £14.5m Garsington Studios, Garsington Opera are seeking a talented Chief Financial Officer to join them to drive strategic and commercial goals for this internationally renowned and well-loved performing arts organisation.
About The Role
The newly created Chief Financial Officer role will support Garsington Opera in driving longer-term commercial and strategic growth. Working closely with the Executive Director and as part of the senior management team, you will optimise new revenue streams and ensure business and financial systems are fit for purpose in supporting new revenue growth. Areas of responsibility will include:
Financial strategy and planning
- Collaborate with the SMT to plan, manage and advise on financial performance, maintaining a robust model to meet organisational needs including annual budgeting and long-term planning.
- Develop and maintain robust business and financial models to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
- Steer and develop commercial revenue streams.
- Provide financial vision, strategic planning and discipline across the organisation.
Financial accounting and management
- Oversee, maintain and develop good financial reporting and statutory compliance, in collaboration with the Finance Director
- Oversee the preparation of accounts for external audit work.
- Provide information to SMT budget holders, challenging plans where appropriate and always seeking opportunities to optimise financial performance.
Leadership
- Provide reports on financial information and trends to the Board and its committees.
- Provide excellent team leadership as a member of SMT, engaging with all direct and indirect reports.
- Develop and lead effective and robust procurement policies for the organisation, ensuring that needs are understood and resourced appropriately.
- Staff management of finance team
About You
- You will be a fully qualified accountant with senior financial leadership experience.
- You will have proven experience in engaging with Board members and Executive or Senior Management Teams.

What’s in it for you?
- Salary of £80,000 - £90,000 per annum dependent on experience
- Annual leave: 24 days + Bank Holidays (incremental increases up to 28 days thereafter dependent on years of service)

Role Overview:
The purpose of the Executive Director roles within Depaul is to ensure that the organisation’s vision, mission and values are delivered through a strategic, shared approach by the Trustee Board, Executive Team and wider workforce.
As the appointed candidate, you will manage the Finance and IT departments and provide strategic and operational management of financial and budgetary processes, ensuring sound, prudent, financial management in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, underpinned by relevant policies and procedures.
You will provide support for income generation, and other service activity, to secure financial sustainability.
You will also report to the CEO and manager a team of 10 people - currently 8 FTE in Finance and 2 FTE in IT, including 2 direct reports – Financial Controller and Head of IT & Systems.
As part of responsibilities, you be attend meetings of the Council of Trustees, the Trustees’ Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC) and the Depaul Housing Services Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a financial service to Depaul UK that meets regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Ensure robust systems and processes for financial planning, analysis and reporting.
- Preparation of the annual statutory accounts and corporate reports to Depaul International, owning an effective relationship with external auditors.
- Support and guide budget holders and senior managers in their financial management responsibilities and produce the annual budget and periodic reforecasting.
- Provide strategic oversight, and monitoring, of the corporate risk register reporting to the CEO and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Support ICT systems development ensuring that all ICT is strategically planned and fit for purpose, delivering cost savings and efficiency wherever possible.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:
- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or CIMA), with post-qualification experience in senior financial management positions and a track record of producing financial strategy, planning, reporting, monitoring and budgeting.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of UK financial regulations, including Charity SORP and its application
- An excellent people manager, with demonstrable experience of leading and driving change programs
- Experience of working in a senior leadership/executive team

The role
This crucial role will help to strategically grow and develop our income and awareness. As part of the Senior Management Team, you will report directly to the charity’s CEO, have key Trustee relationships with the Chair and Fundraising lead Trustee, and build collaborative relationships with the senior staff and clinicians across St George’s University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
You will build and lead the fundraising and communications team, both strategically and operationally, whilst managing them through a period of change. I am urgently seeking an experienced AD of People,Equity & Culture to cover a 10 to 12 month period of maternity leave at a renowned Charity based in East London, to start ASAP. This interim role reports to the Director of Communications, Policy and Campaigns (CPC), alongside other Assistant Directors.
The CPC team drives Shelter's campaigns for social housing and renters' rights, supporting our services and income generation efforts.

GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.
This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.
A great deal has been done to prepare the organisation for such an important time and so now there is a real opportunity for this role to lead in being a figurehead for the charity and representing all that is achieved at GFS in national events and discussions, to best represent the girls of today.
