Role purpose

The Commercial Income Lead is a senior, entrepreneurial role responsible for shaping, growing and diversifying West Horsley Place’s commercial income.

This is a highly proactive position for a self-starter who thrives on identifying opportunity, creating new sales channels and turning ideas into deliverable, income-generating activity. The postholder will develop and lead commercial strategy while remaining closely involved in hands-on sales, client management and on-site delivery.

The role oversees a broad portfolio including corporate venue hire, filming and photography, third-party commercial activity and estate partnerships. It also provides strategic oversight of weddings and private events, line-managing the Weddings & Private Events Coordinator who leads day-to-day sales and delivery in that area.

Key responsibilities

Commercial leadership & strategy

• Develop and lead a clear commercial income strategy, aligned with the Trust’s charitable purpose and long-term sustainability.
• Identify, test and launch new sales channels, commercial products and partnerships, taking ideas from concept to implementation.
• Drive income growth by improving yield, diversifying offer and unlocking under-utilised assets across the house and estate.

Sales & business development

• Personally lead sales activity for corporate hire, filming/location hire and other non-wedding commercial use.

Planning & delivery

• Act as commercial lead for the planning and on-site delivery of non-wedding hires and events.

Weddings & private events – strategic oversight

• Enable cross-support between weddings and other events where appropriate, while protecting the coordinator’s primary focus on wedding sales and delivery.

Main purpose of role

To oversee the charity’s financial management, ensuring accurate reporting, effective budgeting and robust controls. The Senior Finance Manager provides insight to support strategic decision-making, maintains compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and manages day-to-day finance operations to safeguard the organisation’s financial health.

In addition, as part of a small team, the Senior Finance Manager provides light-touch HR support to assist with processes – such as appraisals, payroll and staff records — helping to ensure smooth operations in the absence of a dedicated HR function.

Key tasks – finance

• Ensure accurate recording of information of various funding (industry, donations, memberships etc), spending, banking 

• Manual bookkeeping and liaising with Accountants in the UK and in Belgium to ensure data is uploaded correctly to Sage (or similar software) 

• Monthly month end checks on Sage and accurate nominal coding, working with PE’s appointed accountants 

• Raise invoices and credit control

The Role

Reporting to the Retail Development Manager, the Retail Development Officer will support with the continued growth and development of our retail network.

The role holder will actively support the Retail Development Manager to build, deliver, and implement a pipeline of new sites development in retail, including shops, cafes and superstores, Yorkshire Cancer Research Centres, and other retail related projects.

You will have responsibility of supporting the Retail Development Manager with market analysis and feasibility studies of potential new sites, contributing to the development of business cases, projects plans and delivery of these plans as well as contributing to compliance and ongoing maintenance and required improvements within the retail real estate. There will also be an opportunity for the role holder to inform future decision making through the delivery of business insight, KPI data and other metric reports relating to income.

Specifically, you will:

Ensure Retail Development effectively manages risk through clear prioritisation and consistent role modelling of best practices:

· Work collaboratively with the Retail Area Manager, with regards to monitoring compliance with retail policies and procedures, as well as Health & Safety standards.

· Act as a visible leader in relation to all health and safety responsibilities, taking reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others. Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements, processes and procedures.

· Support and role model a strong safety-first approach in all retail development activities and projects.

The Landlord & Lettings Partnership Manager will lead on securing suitable accommodation for our service users both while they are in Solace’s services (including refuges and supported accommodation for women experiencing multiple disadvantage) and as they transition to independent living, by building strong partnerships with private landlords and registered housing providers.

As part of the business development team you will work independently to source properties, developing landlord relationships and ensuring sustainable tenancies that benefit both landlords and tenants. You will act as a key link between landlords, housing providers and frontline services, building a pipeline of landlords, establishing systems and processes to delivering a new letting broker service and delivering this as a working concept. Your work will directly contribute to service targets and long‑term housing solutions for survivors.

You bring experience working with landlords, lettings or housing services, ideally within supported housing, homelessness or the private rented sector. You are confident building relationships, negotiating effectively and managing a varied workload in a fast‑paced environment.

The Community Engagement officer will have oversight of the Chasing Status Hyper Local Project which focuses on network creation, mobilisation for campaigns for shorter routes to settlement as well as early intervention to ensure that no young migrant is left behind.
