About the role
We’re looking for experienced social media and communications professionals to join our freelance moderation team.
Our moderators support a range of charity partners, working across always-on activity as well as high-profile campaigns and appeals. You’ll act as the voice of each organisation — engaging with supporters, answering queries, and ensuring conversations are managed safely and effectively.
This role is well suited as a flexible, additional source of income. Most of our moderators are freelancers or consultants working alongside other roles.
Working pattern
Moderation takes place between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.
Rather than working in one continuous block, you’ll complete your hours in short check-ins across the day to maintain coverage and meet response time targets.
Each account is allocated a set number of ‘active moderation hours’ per day (e.g. 2-3 hours), which are spread across multiple sessions.
For example, 3 hours may be split into 5-6 check-ins throughout the day.
You must be able to:
Start moderation from 9am (or earlier)
Monitor activity throughout the day
Complete a final check before 9pm
Adhere to our sub-3-hour response time
Please note: In your first month, you will typically start on fewer accounts and hours (approx. 3 per day) while you get up to speed. Hours usually increase from month two onwards.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the voice of our charity partners, consistently applying their tone of voice and brand guidelines
Respond to comments, messages and queries in a timely, accurate and empathetic way
Maintain a response time of under three hours
Identify, manage and de-escalate negative or inappropriate content
Hide or remove content in line with moderation policies
Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately
Signpost users to relevant support services where needed
Encourage positive engagement and supporter action, including donations where appropriate
Work across a range of moderation tools e.g. Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite, Agorapulse, Brandwatch
Manage your workload independently while following clear processes and guidance
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Minimum 3 years’ professional communications experience, working in-house for a charity or non-profit
Proven experience moderating social media channels
Excellent written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple check-ins
Confidence in making judgement calls using guidance rather than scripts
Understanding of fundraising and how charities engage supporters
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-volume or sensitive situations
Availability to work 3-6 days per week, including at least one weekend day
Flexibility to adapt quickly if issues arise
Desirable

The role

Role Overview:
This is a blended role combining responsibilities across the National Stalking Helpline (0.6 FTE) and the National Advocacy Service (0.4 FTE).
The postholder will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support across the full victim journey from first contact and immediate risk assessment through to ongoing advocacy and multi-agency casework.

Provide advice, guidance, emotional support, safety planning, and risk assessment to individuals contacting the National Stalking Helpline.
Answer incoming calls to the helpline and manage contacts in line with service standards.
Helpline duties day/week/FTE with flexibility to meet demand/need
Provide tailored advocacy support, advice, and guidance to victims living including emotional support, risk assessment, and safety planning.
Using the SASH, conduct follow on risk assessments to inform ongoing safety planning
Develop and maintain individualised advocacy plans for each client.
Support clients to navigate the Criminal Justice System (CJS), civil and family courts.
Liaise with other professionals and agencies, such as housing, health, social care, and law enforcement, to ensure coordinated support.
Proactively research and build strong working relationships with support services and share best practice
Advise and advocate on behalf of victims when their rights under the Victims’ Code are not being met.
Undertake ISA accreditation (training provided if not already achieved).
Apply cyberstalking knowledge and seek cyber technical support on complex cases.

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
As a Young Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to young carers and a commitment to enhancing their wellbeing. Main Duties include:
· To provide regular emotional support to young carers and their families through a range of methods, offering appropriate, generic advice
· To provide individual support to young carers, and sibling young carers on a case-by-case basis towards established outcomes through delivery of a mentoring programme
· To be proactive in the identification and registration of young carers, which will include conducting internal assessments of their caring role and responsibilities and identifying support needs
· To support with the planning and participate in the delivery of young carers group activities and events
· To work with schools, voluntary organisations, statutory services, health services and others to raise awareness and identify young carers
· To keep accurate records of group and individual young carer engagement for monitoring and evaluation purposes
· To participate in key events organised by Richmond Carers Centre and other relevant partners to promote services to a wider public

Salary: £55,000- £60,000 full time equivalent. This role sits within Band C on Global Canopy’s remuneration framework.
Nature of contract: Full time or 0.8 FTE. Permanent. This is a hybrid role working from home and our office in Oxford. There is a requirement to attend the office once a week and for other meetings/work as required.
