The Role

The Project Manager is an adept and organised professional, esteemed within the nuclear policy community for their level. Responsible for overseeing a discrete package of work, they must demonstrate a clear understanding and alignment with broader programme goals, strategies, and objectives. The role will report to the Programme Manager.

Taking charge of project deliverables, the Project Manager will navigate the entire project cycle, from generating fundraising ideas to developing them further and building knowledge of funding relationships. The role will also include deputising for the Programme Manager during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of delivery, external engagement, and team support as required.

The Project Manager will take responsibility for the South Asia portfolio under the Responsibilities and Global Governance (RGG) Programme. The RGG Programme works to strengthen global security by supporting the development of responsible governance frameworks for weapons and dual-use technologies in cross-cutting operational domains. Under the South Asia portfolio, the RGG Programme has facilitated research and dialogue with the Indian and Pakistani nuclear policy communities with a focus on regional crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation practices.

The Project Manager should possess a solid understanding of global security and conflict resolution and a deep understanding and demonstrable knowledge of military security dynamics in South Asia, coupled with a proven ability to design and execute high-quality project management and research. The ideal candidate is an established researcher with a specialisation in nuclear weapons issues and South Asia. As the candidate will be expected to facilitate India-Pakistan nuclear dialogues, it is important that they will show an ability to engage impartially with all parties.

It is expected that the Project Manager will have solo authored, policy relevant, publications. The Project Manager should possess the skills to expand their network in their area of specialisation, benefiting BASIC, and be capable of line managing other team members within their project. 

This role necessitates a formal project or programme management qualification – BASIC will provide the Project Manager with such training and qualifications if they do not already possess one. The Project Manager will collaborate with their line manager to identify a professional development plan, closing skills gaps and aspiring to become an internationally respected leader in their field.

Key Responsibilities

Person Specification:

Essential:

• Educated to Master’s level – or demonstrate the equivalent in work experience

• 5+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues

• Demonstrable knowledge of South Asian military security issues

• Passion and commitment to our organisational mission of promoting dialogue to advance global security

• Demonstrated ability and track record in leading the creative development and delivery of policy projects in the UK or internationally, including budgeting and reporting

• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds and with broad variations in seniority and function

• Excellent analytical and methodological skills, and an organised approach to research

• Well-developed interpersonal skills, including evidence of working successfully as part of a team

• Track record of previous fundraising experience and success

Public Fundraising Manager

The Public Fundraising Manager will lead the individual giving, in-memory, legacies, challenge events and community fundraising activities, building on strong foundations that are already in place across these areas. The Manager will be responsible for around £400,000 of income per year, largely across challenge events, community fundraising, and individual giving. You will be an ambitious professional individual who will go above and beyond to help raise the charity’s profile, build the supporter base, and deliver exceptional standards of donor care to grass roots supporters.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, the postholder will have experience in at least one or more of the key public fundraising areas: individual giving, challenge events, community fundraising, legacy and in memory fundraising. You will be an exceptional relationship builder with strong emotional intelligence and influencing skills, providing a creative and ambitious approach to fundraising with evidence of public speaking and crafting compelling proposals and impact stories.

Originally founded in 1823, Seashell Trust is a nationally recognised and registered charity based in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport. The Trust comprises of the Royal School Manchester, the Royal College Manchester, bespoke Residential Care Homes, Outreach Health and Family Services that support over 8,000 people a year. About the role

The Design and Communications Manager is responsible for managing Seashell’s brand identity so that it engages effectively with our audiences, reflects our values and articulates our ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as lead designer for the Trust and work with the Head of Marketing and Communications to establish clear direction for enhancing brand awareness
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to champion the Seashell brand, providing design insight and input into key campaigns.
• Design and create marketing and communications materials, as well as keeping the brand/marketing and communications toolkit and content bank up to date, to help our teams create their own materials to strengthen our brand and amplify awareness.
• Lead on design or oversee artwork for key organisational documents (impact report etc.) campaigns, fundraising events, reports, prospectuses, impact stories, social media, advertising and any other key content required.

About the Role 

The Development Operations team enables all philanthropic income across the Barbican. As we prepare for a major comprehensive campaign and significant growth in activity, The Development Manager, Operations is central to strengthening the systems and infrastructure that support our fundraising.
You will lead a team spanning CRM, prospect research, events operations and audience giving, ensuring the department has the systems, insight and financial rigour to deliver sustainable income growth at scale.

In this role, you will:

•    Lead and improve the systems, policies and processes that support fundraising, embedding best practice and driving efficiency.
•    Oversee Development finances, including income tracking, forecasting and budgeting, working closely with Finance to ensure accuracy and insight.
•    Act as strategic lead for our CRM (Spektrix) and data environment, overseeing reporting, gift processing, data integrity and compliance (GDPR, Gift Aid).
•    Support the administration of the Barbican Centre Trust, ensuring statutory compliance and high-quality support to Trustees and senior stakeholders.
•    Manage and develop a high-performing Operations team, setting clear priorities during a period of growth and change.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

•    Significant experience in fundraising or charity operations (arts sector experience desirable).
•    Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting.
•    Deep CRM expertise (ideally Spektrix) and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insight.
•    A solid understanding of charity regulation, Gift Aid and GDPR.
•    Excellent communication skills, with confidence preparing reports and papers for senior leaders and Trustees.

The two regional roles currently available are fundamental to the delivery of the third phase of the Seed Sovereignty Programme across southern and western England.

Working alongside the north east based England Lead, each role involves supporting seed networks across a dedicated region (southern or west of England- see regional map)  through training, mentoring, and routes to market, as well as engaging with a range of groups and individuals through events, workshops and talks.  The role involves collaborating with the rest of the Seed Sovereignty Programme team remotely to share best practices and develop the delivery of the work nationally.

Seed knowledge:  Understanding agroecology, small-scale seed production, seed sovereignty, and open-pollinated varieties.

· Has a good understanding of seed saving and agroecological seed systems.

· Supports outreach and communications to share knowledge on seed saving and agroecological seed systems.

· Assists in the identification and development of new regional opportunities.

New Business Manager

This is a vital, high-impact and visible role at the heart of our fundraising strategy, ideal for someone who combines creativity and commercial flair with a track record of securing transformational strategic partnerships.

The New Business Manager sits within the charity's Corporate New Business team of four, who work alongside the Partnership management team of seven. 

Recent successes for the team include securing multiyear strategic partnerships with Nationwide (£3m p.a), Card Factory Foundation (£500k p.a), Citibank (£190k pa.) and Newsquest (£4m of strategic pro bono).

The post holder will be responsible for securing strategic new partnerships with a focus on those worth £100k - £1m. You'll also support the Senior New Business Manager on £1m+ partnerships. This role requires tenacity and will need to work at pace while collaborating with colleagues across the organisation.
