Job Title: Member and Supporter Experience Officer (summer placement)

Team: Member and Supporter Experience

Location: Hybrid (split between home-working and London. London attendance on Tuesdays)

Duration: 3 months (2 July – 6 October)

*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £25,813 to £33,052, The salary on appointment will be set at the lower end of the pay range, to a maximum of £28,394 depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This approach aims to ensure fair compensation for new hires while maintaining alignment with the structured pay scale for the role.

We will be conducting interviews on a rolling basis as suitable candidates apply, and we are looking for the successful candidate to start from 2 July.

Context and purpose of role

At the Ramblers, we are committed to providing our supporters with the very best experience possible, placing the Member and Supporter Experience Team at the heart of our operations. The team acts as the first line of support for members and supporters, responding to enquiries, managing interactions, and deepening engagement with the Ramblers.

This short-term placement provides hands-on experience in delivering excellent supporter service at the Ramblers. The postholder will support the Member and Supporter Experience team in responding to enquiries, maintaining supporter data, and contributing to improvements in the supporter journey.

Key responsibilities

Supporter Engagement

• Respond to supporter enquiries via phone, letter, email and social media in a timely and professional manner, and with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail.

• Escalate complex, safeguarding and complaint-related enquiries appropriately.

• Listen and respond to the needs of each supporter, understanding their motivations and experiences to foster long-term relationships.

• Acknowledge and thank donations and other payments in a timely and personalised manner.

Payment processing

• Process and manage in-bound financial payments in an accurate and timely manner

• Investigate and resolve any payment issues, liaising with supporters and the payment processor as needed.

Data integrity and CRM Management

• Maintain accurate records of interactions, transactions, comments, and complaints in the CRM system in accordance with data protection and Gift Aid Legislation.

• Support key supporter administration tasks (e.g. welcome pack data send)

Problem-solving and complaints handling

• Investigate and resolve low-level issues or complaints, liaising with other colleagues as required and keep supporters informed throughout the process.

• Handle complex technical enquiries related to our digital tools such as app, website, insight hub, with support from the team.

• Manage feedback and complaints, following established procedure with a focus on turning negative experiences into positive ones.

Volunteer support

• Provide support to office volunteers, ensuring they feel values and supported to carry out their tasks effectively.

Other

• Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required of the post.

• Engage and proactively develop excellent working relationships across the organisation.

Join Our Team as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Location: HMP Hull, East Yorkshire.

Rethink Mental Illness work alongside Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) and Humber, Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an integrated stepped care mental health service within HMP Hull and Humber.

The team compromises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care, for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees, this is carried out between 0800 – 1600 Monday to Friday. 

As we work across both sites, there may be some travel involved, but this will be done in work time and expenses paid to support service delivery.

*The applicant must have a full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle.

What I will do and achieve:

Your work will make a real difference by helping people in prison take positive steps toward recovery and a better future. You’ll play a vital role in supporting mental health, reducing risk, and empowering individuals to manage their wellbeing.

In this role, you will:

• Assess and manage referrals – Accept referrals via agreed protocols, determine suitability, and ensure clients receive the right level of care, including stepping up treatment when necessary.
• Support recovery and self-management – Work with individuals to identify their goals, assess risk, and empower them to manage their mental health effectively.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions – Provide low-intensity treatments such as Guided Self-Help and psycho-educational support, drawing on CBT principles.
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team – Attend meetings, share insights, and ensure smooth step-up and step-down arrangements for clients.
• Maintain high standards of clinical practice – Record outcome measures, keep accurate data, and uphold confidentiality at all times.
• Contribute to service performance – Meet agreed activity targets, minimise waiting times, and support monthly performance reporting.

 Essential Skills and Experience

• Successfully completed academic training aligned with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP), e.g., Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies.
• Accredited PWP with BACP or BPS.
• Post-qualification experience delivering the full range of evidence-based IAPT low-intensity interventions at Step 2.
• Proven experience working within a stepped care service, supporting individuals with mental health problems and achieving recovery outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of assessment procedures, screening, referral processes, record-keeping, and evidence-based brief psychological interventions.
• Understanding and application of evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to this role.
• Ability to build effective therapeutic relationships and practice inclusively, respecting cultural diversity and individual beliefs.
• Commitment to an inclusive values base that promotes recovery and respects diversity.
• Experience using clinical outcome measures to inform and improve practice.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

We are looking for someone who is excited to  support young refugees from 11 – 25 yrs. old living in Croydon. Young refugees have a unique and complex lived experience and need a range of different support that should be tailored to their needs.  We deliver trauma informed, relational and humanistic mental health interventions and to help young refugees navigate their experiences in a new life and environment and to build their resilience and ability to use mental health resources and tools to gain insight into their emotions, feelings and behaviours.  We are looking for someone with experience of working with young refugees or a passion to develop work with this client group and champions their needs in a complex life.

For all posts you need to have a mental health qualification and at least two years’ experience of working with young people. We are also looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health.

Responsibilities include offering a flexible range of short-term and longer-term mental health interventions to children and young people aged 11-25 including individual and group-based support; workshops; crisis support; mental health themed activities. About the Role
The Communications and Events Officer will be responsible for communication working closely with the Executive Director & the Fundraising Manager to advance FORWARD’s mission by using communications as a tool for social change.
