We are looking for a part-time Operations Manager to support our Executive Director and wider team by taking an operational lead, keeping a birds eye view over all of our activities and our infrastructure - and ensuring the principles and processes we’ve collectively agreed to are working optimally.
You will provide essential operational, administrative, financial and IT support. Lead in the day to day operations of the organisation, including office tasks, diary management and systemic thinking for our internal communications.
TERMS AND BENEFITS
Fixed term contract for 12 months (with the possibility of extension depending on future grants), £38,000 pro rata (equivalent to £22,800 per year), with a September or October 2026 start.
25 days of paid annual leave pro rata, plus bank holidays. In addition, the MDP office closes for two paid weeks over Christmas and New Year.
4% pension (3% employer and 5% employee contributions)

Central London office space. MDP’s office is in Vauxhall, London. Staff have daily access to the office and the team works from the office together at least once a week.

Project Management: support the team with resources, templates and systems for them to do their work effectively, implementing and managing MDP's project management platform and ensure the team are supported through their work.
Security of the team and community: staying up to date with best practice on digital and physical security and ensure the wider community that interacts with MDP is safeguarded.
People Management and recruitment: maintaining records of staff leave, expenses and training needs, support the Executive Director with recruitment processes and ensure the team has access to the processes allowing them to grow and flourish.

At least three years of experience in an administrative, operations, or office management role, ideally within a small NGO or human rights organisation.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
Excellent organisation skills, with extensive experience in project and program management, a proven ability to plan, organise, and lead the implementation of plans and processes.
Excellent digital skills including on platforms such as Excel, Airtable, Google Workspace, or general software.
Good knowledge of policies relevant to the operations of an organisation.
Experience using Xero, Soldo or similar software for processing invoices and expenses.
Experience maintaining accurate records and systems, with excellent attention to detail.
Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding or volunteer coordination.

We are seeking a Payroll Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in ensuring every payslip is accurate and delivered on time. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process, working closely with our external payroll provider to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees each month.
You will process monthly payroll, including manual calculations for overtime, variable hours, complex work patterns, and compressed hours, while ensuring correct application of cost codes for payroll expenditure. The role involves administering statutory and company payments such as sick pay, maternity pay, and other relevant entitlements, as well as processing adjustments for new starters, leavers, promotions, and contract variations.

The position includes managing pension scheme administration—covering auto-enrolment, contributions, and opt-out processes—and collaborating closely with both the People and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee data and ensure payroll costs are correctly recorded and reported.
Additionally, you will produce monthly payroll reports, assist with financial and audit requirements, and respond to employee payroll queries promptly and professionally. This is a varied role that also offers opportunities to contribute to ad hoc tasks and reporting projects as required by the business.
About You:
To be successful as the Payroll Officer you will need to demonstrate proven experience in payroll processing, ideally within a medium to large organisation, along with a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements. You should possess excellent numerical skills, with the ability to interpret data, perform accurate calculations, and apply sound financial understanding relevant to the position. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

In this role, you will take ownership of a caseload of individuals at risk of homelessness, delivering proactive and outcome-focused interventions that prevent homelessness and support sustainable housing solutions. Hertfordshire Mind Network’s Nightlight Service (Cafés, Helpline, 24/7 Crisis House, A&E Liaison service and Daylight provision) is proud to provide urgent support, crisis intervention, and emotional support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways.
We provide support to adults across Hertfordshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our Helpline, Cafes and 24/7 Crisis House. We aim to provide a safe space for people in crisis to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary. This role will operate across our various levels of supported housing, including a flexible threshold unit that adopts a harm reduction approach with flexible tolerance toward drug use.
You will be part of a team providing support to the residents in the service and will be required to work on a rota basis that includes every other weekend. The service is set up to support residents to stabilise their substance use, focusing on harm reduction whilst improving independent living skills and achieving their individual goals. In addition, you would work closely with our partner organisations to ensure that the residents receive support tailored to their needs. Join us as a Relief Hostel Support Worker (Days) and become a vital part of our dedicated team at the Manvers Street Hostel—a service that operates 24/7, 365 days a year, supporting rough sleepers on their journey out of homelessness.

Your responsibilities will include carrying out regular health and safety checks through patrols, monitoring the premises via CCTV, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
