We are now looking for a Horticultural Curator to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 36 hours per week.

The Role

As a Horticultural Curator, you will support the development of beautiful, resilient and biodiverse landscapes across The Royal Parks.

Specifically, you will deliver one of our key strategic objectives to ‘Conserve and Enhance’. This will involve five key themes: everyday wonder, creating iconic horticulture, diverse planting, respecting heritage, and a sustainable future. Working closely with our eleven Head Gardeners, you will support horticultural projects across the parks through both practical and planning input, ensuring planting schemes respond to heritage, climate change and biodiversity challenges.

You will help source plants from a diverse range of nurseries, support procurement planning for larger projects and ensure new plantings deliver the best outcomes for people, nature and long-term landscape sustainability.

Additionally, you will:

• Manage and issue horticultural guidance documents and support quality standards
• Oversee and administer the Expert Horticultural Counsel volunteer group
• Support the Head Gardener team with plant sourcing and horticultural diversity across the parks ensuring each park has its own style and identity without duplication
• Contribute to Landscape Character Assessments and Park Management Plans
• Support the development of National Plant Collections in collaboration with Plant Heritage and the Head Gardener Team

About You

To be considered as a Horticultural Curator, you will need:

• Experience working at management level in a curated landscape garden setting that has a wide breadth of plant groups
• Demonstrable experience working in spaces open to the public
• Experience curating a broad range of plant groups
• Experience writing copy to explain and communicate changes and evolution of horticulture for media, press and PR interpretation and fundraising material
• Broad knowledge and understanding of horticultural plant diversity, its display and curation, and how to interpret it to visitors
• Knowledge of the UK and, in some cases, European nurseries
• An understanding of the sensitivities involved with evolving planting styles
• Wide reaching networks through plant committees and industry bodies to enable collaboration and best value for the charity

The Digital Transformation Officer will support CCT’s strategy with the replacement/upgrade of its current digital information systems with a new fit for purpose digital environment and manage the Trust’s move to this new environment.

The Digital Transformation Officer will work with all teams within the Trust, across all levels of the organisation, assisting with implementing CCT’s Digital Transformation Strategy. They will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks involved in populating and documenting the system and the supporting infrastructure as it develops.

As the Digital Transformation Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting CCT’s strategic objectives by collaborating with cross-functional teams that leverage agile methodologies, data-driven approaches, and digital technologies. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for a part-time (0.7 FTE) Head of Outreach.

This role will:

• Lead on the development and implementation of an Outreach Strategy that inspires people and organisations, including policy makers, to take action for bumblebees. (Aim 2 of the Trust’s strategy)

· Supervise and lead on a range of research & evaluation activities, including synthesis of secondary research; conducting qualitative, quantitative and/or survey designs; developing and delivering randomised controlled trials (and other experimental trials as appropriate), 

· Convey research findings, including complex quantitative information, in a clear and actionable way 

· Develop and maintain expertise in behavioural research and evaluation methodologies

· Work with academics and practitioners to test and trial new approaches to widening participation and student success 

· Line manage the Senior Research and Evaluation Adviser or Senior Data Officer

Working Pattern

· This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The role works with a hybrid working pattern. While some on-site presence will be required for team collaboration, events, and programme activities, there is potential for a substantial proportion of working hours to be undertaken remotely.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience

Essential criteria

· Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in any research or evaluation job.  Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training 

· Ability to consider and select appropriate research designs and methodologies, using qualitative and quantitative methods including surveying, interviewing and running focus groups.  

· Experience establishing causal inference in research when evaluating projects or interventions with experimental methods (e.g. quasi-experimental methods, randomised controlled trials). 

· Experience in designing and running multiple social research and evaluation projects, managing competing demands and timescales and delivering to milestones. 

· Confident in conducting data analysis including handling large data sets and statistical testing using relevant software (such as Power BI, R, Stata, or SPSS) and presenting findings in various formats. 

· Confident and clear written and verbal communication, including report-writing, data visualisation and presentation skills. 

· Ability to give a team clear direction and guide it to the successful completion of a task. 

· Ability to identify and manage the objectives, performance, and development needs of others. 

Desirable criteria

· Postgraduate degree or qualification in research methods, statistics, analytics or a related field and/or relevant experience. 

· Experience using behavioural insights in a research or policy context to positively influence behaviour 

· Understanding of the widening participation agenda and/or the role of higher education in social mobility

This role works with colleagues across the organisation - but also in partnership with external organisations and agencies, with targets set for engagement (and other indicators of the success of our campaigns). We're working on multiple campaigns simultaneously; whether that's Carers Week, campaigns to influence changes to the law to better support carers, encouraging unpaid carers to join us as members, updating on activities in the devolved nations or getting people to fundraise for Carers UK. And we use a mix of owned, earned and paid communications to drive engagement in a challenging and crowded environment in order to get our messages to cut through. It's a busy, but varied role, in a supportive and collaborative team.

About you

Working within the communications and marketing team, you'll be confident in managing our social media accounts (we have many), ensuring we're using platforms to get our messages out to both wide and targeted audiences with engaging and timely content.

You'll be happy using tools for social listening, interacting with our audiences and building our reach. You'll be familiar with key metrics for social engagement and will be reporting back to colleagues and other stakeholders - and using this data to constantly improve our communications.

You'll be skilled in writing longer form content for our members' magazine, Caring, proof reading articles, posting content on our websites, creating graphics and making sure our content is engaging, audience focused and dynamic. Oh, and you probably know your way around an emoji set and are not scared of a well timed pun. We're a small but effective communications team and pride ourselves on getting stuck in and supporting each other when we need to deliver big on fast moving projects, so you'll need be able to juggle lots of demands while recognising the importance of always hitting deadlines.

The Job 

The Open SU delivers a dedicated student advice service called the Individual Representation Service. We are seeking a Student Advisor to provide one-to-one support for students navigating a range of university processes, including Central Disciplinary Hearings, Academic Misconduct investigations, Complaints, and Appeals. This is a 12-month role with the potential for extension, subject to demonstrating continued need. 

In this role, you will: 

• Provide high quality advice and information across a broad range of academic matters, including academic appeals, academic misconduct, complaints, disciplinary processes, extenuating circumstances, and fitness to practice issues. 

• Represent individual students at formal and informal University meetings 

• Accurately record student queries and maintain clear, up to date case records. 

• Manage a case load and deliver timely advice through a range of channels. 

• Build and maintain effective relationships with university departments, external stakeholders, and other relevant bodies. 

• Develop your expertise in university regulations, processes, and operations, applying this knowledge confidently and accurately to individual cases while working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure students receive the support they need. 

• Identifying policy issues/trends and communicating these to the Student Advice Manager. 

The Person 

We’re looking for an organised, proactive individual who thrives in a busy environment and is confident delivering advice to people with a wide range of backgrounds and needs. You will need to have experience of managing multiple deadlines, prioritising your workload effectively, and adapting to changing demands. 

As part of a small but very active team, you’ll enjoy collaborating with colleagues and contributing to our shared goal of improving the experience of students. You will bring strong analytical skills, enabling you to review complex paperwork and situations, and to present information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally. You will need to be confident delivering presentations to students and staff.
