Main Purpose and Scope of the Job:

 

The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse and breaking the cycle of abuse by providing support for children and young people in the refuge and in the community and supporting children and young people to keep safe.

• Providing support, advice and assistance to women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse and are staying in the refuge.
• Empowering and supporting women to make positive choices.
• Establishing resettlement services to support women to move on from refuge accommodation.
• The post-holder work as part of the refuge team, with clients who live in the refuge after being referred via the Front Door Service

As an Intervention Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Highbury Approved Premises. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence. A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

The role in Approved Premises (AP) involves supporting high-risk individuals transitioning from prison back into the community. Staff work closely with residents, providing guidance, promoting positive behaviour, and helping them build independence while maintaining a structured environment. Responsibilities include preparing meals, supporting rehabilitation plans in collaboration with probation and external agencies, and ensuring residents follow rules such as curfews and drug/alcohol testing. Staff are also expected to assist in running and documenting activities, completing daily tasks, and keeping the premises safe, clean, and secure through regular checks and communication. A key aspect of the role is empowering residents to take responsibility for their own lives, without doing things for them, while providing support and supervision as needed. Staff must adhere to Hestia's policies and the Ministry of Justice's guidelines. 

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. East Sussex Transitional Housing is a low-support service, providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for 98 young people between the ages of 18-25 who have been, or are, at risk of homelessness. We have a small, supportive, and established team which manages 18 housing properties across, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings. We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures.

You will be based at the YMCA office in Eastbourne but will be visiting our 7 properties around Eastbourne each week, meeting with residents in their homes and at the office.

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Housing and Compliance

• Support young people to understand and comply with their occupancy agreements, including coaching them to meet house rules and responsibilities as part of preparing for successful independent living.
• Promote a strong rent‑payment and credit culture, encouraging residents to maintain regular payments and understand their financial obligations.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits, and statutory requirements affecting young people, ensuring practice aligns with current housing law and organisational policies.
• Respond promptly and effectively to breaches of agreement, including rent arrears, antisocial behaviour, or property damage, using restorative approaches where appropriate and working collaboratively with the wider team.

Coaching and Engagement

• Coach young people so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and take the lead in acquiring the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives.
• Ensure young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own personal development, to engage with the services on offer and build strong networks and connections within the local community.
• Ensure consistent standards of safeguarding and Trauma Informed Practice when supporting young people, observing our safeguarding procedures, and keeping yourself and residents safe by respecting professional boundaries.
• Maintain client records on In-Form (client database) detailing the young person’s journey in relation to their strengths and needs, any risks, and any outcomes (to monitor service performance).

There will be times when lone working will be a requirement for this role, but you will get to know the team and service, along with an induction and training prior to starting on a rota.

• Ability to manage arrears, ASB, and other non‑compliance issues using appropriate and restorative approaches.
• Good knowledge of housing legislation, safeguarding procedures, and compliance requirements, with the ability to maintain clear professional boundaries.
• Familiarity with statutory and voluntary services available to young people and ability to work proactively with a caseload to support progression towards independent living.

Skills and Abilities

• Confident in record‑keeping, including case notes, incident reporting, and health and safety checks.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing for appropriate recording of a resident’s progression, and to evidence outcomes achieved.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including signposting and advocating for clients as necessary.
• Ability to work autonomously, and use own initiative, as well as being part of a team.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, good IT, and keyboard skills.
• Ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.

As a Recovery Worker, the person would be managing a caseload of clients who need early intervention or preventative support with their mental health. They would deliver group activities and one-to-one sessions, co-produce recovery plans, and empower service users to engage with professionals across the community such as mental health teams, housing providers, and social services. The role also involves monitoring wellbeing and safety, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring referrals and reviews are timely. Day-to-day, the Recovery Worker contributes to a supportive team environment, working flexibly to meet service needs and contractual obligations while promoting recovery-focused approaches.

About the role

This role is based in Pontypool Police Station, Pontypool, it is offered on a hybrid working basis and there is a requirement for travel throughout the area.

As a Caseworker- Children and Uong People you will be:

• Managing a caseload of Victims of Crime with the highest level of need, both directly, through in-depth, 1:1 support, and indirectly, by working other service providers. Undertaking face to face support, case-tracking and management.

Richmond Carers Centre has the mission to help unpaid adult carers to live a full, active and meaningful life by providing them with advice, information, activities, breaks and emotional support either face to face, by phone or by email to enable them to live well.

As an Adult Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to adult carers and a commitment to enhancing their health and wellbeing. Much of your work will involve actively listening to carers, often via the phone support line, providing information, advice and support. You will build strong partnerships with external agencies, families, carers, and other key supporters to ensure coordinated and effective support. The role also involves helping service users access healthcare, education, training, employment, and other opportunities that support their recovery journey, while encouraging participation in social and skills-development activities that promote inclusion and confidence. As part of a flexible and supportive team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment, oversee health and safety requirements, support tenancy sustainment including occupancy agreements and rent payments, and provide information and signposting to carers so they can access the support available to them.

You will bring:

• Experience or strong knowledge of antenatal support, pregnancy and early parenthood
• Confidence delivering group sessions or antenatal education
• Good understanding of early attachment, infant development and postnatal adjustment
