Abeona Housing Co-operative is looking for a skilled administrator to join our small, close-knit team on a freelance, interim basis. This is a hands-on project role with real ownership and variety, working at the heart of a democratic, resident-led community.

Over three months, you will lead five defined projects to build Abeona's administrative and digital infrastructure, including a cloud filing migration and housing management software transition, alongside core day-to-day housing administration. Videre is an award-winning, UK-registered NGO that exposes human rights abuses and holds perpetrators to account. We work directly with communities in stressed environments, equipping networks of activists and community leaders with the technology and training necessary to safely capture visual documentation of political violence, human rights violations, and other systemic abuses. Our aim is to ensure that the concerns and knowledge of affected communities drive advocacy, policy, and legal action.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a critical senior role in the organisation, reporting to the Senior Director-Programming. The role is responsible for managing the organisation’s programmes across 2 locations in Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia, line managing three people. The position provides leadership on direct programming for community-led investigations and evidence gathering as well as our CSO partnership programme in two geographies. The Head of Programmes works closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT) on critical areas including fundraising and strategic development.   

The priority for this role is the safe and high quality performance of projects. The balance between ‘doing’ and ‘managing’ in this role varies depending on available resources for each project, and the ability to create competent teams to delegate to.

Location: UK, France, Nairobi or Thailand preferred. Remote applicants considered.

Package: Pay is dependent on location.  The UK salary of £62,000 plus pension contribution will be converted using ICSC scales. All locations receive 28 days annual leave, counselling support and annual wellbeing days.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Programme Leadership and Delivery

• Working closely with the Senior Director- Programming, lead the development and implementation of programme strategy and annual plans, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and priorities.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Project Teams for both direct investigations and local CSO partnerships, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, effectively and to a high standard.
• Act as a member of the Management Team, contributing to organisational planning, decision-making, continuous improvement and cross-organisational initiatives.

People Leadership

• Lead, support and develop a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Skills, Experience and Characteristics

Essential

• Professional writing and speaking in either English or French, with at least effective operational efficiency in the other language (B2 or above).

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a charity and membership society that has been dedicated to improving tropical medicine and global health since 1907. We are looking for a motivated individual to join us as Team and Office Administrator, effectively supporting the small but busy RSTMH Team by providing proactive and comprehensive support across our key areas of work.

The role will require someone who preferably has some experience of providing support and administration to a busy team and office, preferably within the charity/not-for-profit sector, who is flexible, has excellent time management and prioritisation skills, and is able work on their own initiative. The successful candidate will be working across various RSTMH activities, including membership, journals, events, grants, and communications; therefore, they will need to be efficient and organised, with strong computer skills and a professional outlook.

Please note: This is a London based role and will be office-based. This is not available as a remote job.

The Role:

As Administrative Assistant RSTMH, your duties will include:

• Developing and maintaining effective working relationships across RSTMH
• Ensuring that all general, email, telephone and written enquiries are dealt with efficiently and promptly
• Supporting with the management of the RSTMH office and office processes, ensuring the space is kept clean and presentable, monitoring stock levels and assisting the team with office maintenance tasks
• Undertaking electronic and paper filing, and maintain filing systems appropriately
• Assisting with the management and promotion of the RSTMH meeting room
• Supporting with general administration across all RSTMH areas of work
• Supporting on the website by uploading and editing content through the CMS
• Helping create and send the fortnightly member newsletter and the monthly non-member newsletter
• Responsibility for the general administration and upkeep of RSTMH’s online opportunities platform, grow
• Assisting with enquiries from current and prospective members in a professional, timely manner, and to agreed service targets.
• Working proficiently across RSTMH platforms, including Editorial Manager, CiviCRM and Benefactor
• Assisting in international travel planning, including identifying travel options, creating visa support letters and sourcing accommodation for the team and/or RSTMH contacts
• Carrying out desk research as and when required
• Ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed to a high standard
• Participating in team meetings, planning and initiatives
• Assisting in any administrative tasks to support the team and wider RSTMH community
• To undertake any other reasonable tasks as could be expected of a Administrative Assistant

Essential Technical Skills:

• Ability to manage a diverse set of priorities and meet deadlines to a consistently high standard
• Capacity to set up and maintain administrative processes and office systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong understanding of delivering great customer service
• Experience of being responsible for initiating, planning, and developing own areas of work
• High computer literacy and confidence with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, and the ability to adapt to new platforms
• Exceptional use of written and spoken English
• Experience providing administration support, preferably in an office environment
• Good analytical skills with the ability to identify key points from complex material or information

Personal Skills:

• Ability to work with a wide range of people whilst presenting a professional image on behalf of RSTMH
• Ability to be calm under pressure and help build a collaborative team culture
• Flexibility and willingness to work under own initiative

This role is available on a permanent and full-time or part-time basis (4 days a week). The salary is £50,000 per annum. This is a hybrid role where you will attend the Southwark office in London one day a week, on Wednesdays.
 
The Training Manager will lead the delivery and development of the organisation's training portfolio, overseeing high‑quality facilitation across multiple programmes, translating business development scopes into project plans, and managing end‑to‑end training delivery. You will build trusted relationships with partners and funders, act as an external training expert, and drive the creation of new capacity‑building offers and learning infrastructure.
 
The role includes line management, coordinating associates, strengthening internal training capability, and ensuring consistent facilitation standards. You will sign off content, lead quality assurance, grow the training pipeline, develop proposals and contracts, and represent the organisation at events. You will also contribute to organisational learning, codify best practices, support recruitment, manage project and team budgets, and make informed delivery, communications, and partnership decisions.
 
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience designing and delivering training or capacity-building programmes, including stakeholder programmes. You will have strong facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt delivery to context. You will have experience managing projects end-to-end. You will have the ability to scope and design learning interventions in response to client needs. You will have experience line managing or mentoring junior staff or associates. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills and experience holding relationships with funders or strategic partners, including ongoing account or relationship management. You will be comfortable working independently and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
 
Experience working in or with mission-driven, nonprofit, or social sector organisations is desirable. Other desirable experience includes: familiarity with adult learning theory or established learning and development frameworks, experience acting as a trainer of trainers or building facilitation capability in others, experience contributing to business development, including proposal writing or pitching, and experience working with funders or delivery partners in a training or capacity-building context.
