Job description

The Role

The Security Operations and Engineering Manager is responsible for leading The Law Society's cyber security operations capability, ensuring effective protection of the organisation's systems, data, and services.

Reporting into the Head of Cyber Security, you will oversee security operations, incident response, security engineering, vulnerability management, and the performance of outsourced security partners. Working closely with internal Technology teams and third-party providers, you will drive continuous improvement across security controls, detection capabilities, and operational processes, ensuring cyber risks are managed effectively and aligned with business objectives.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced cyber security professional with a strong background in security operations, incident response, and security engineering within a complex technology environment.

You will have experience managing security platforms and third-party security service providers, alongside the ability to lead technical responses to cyber incidents and drive operational improvements. Strong knowledge of cloud, identity, endpoint, email, and data security controls is essential, as is experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring.

The successful candidate will be a confident leader who can build strong relationships across technical and non-technical teams, communicate complex security issues clearly, and develop a high-performing team. A proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for improving cyber resilience will be key to success in this role.

What's in it for you

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in protecting a well-respected organisation and shaping its cyber security future. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, lead major security initiatives, and work with modern security technologies across a complex technology environment.

You will join a collaborative and supportive team environment where your expertise will be valued and your contributions recognised. The role offers the chance to work closely with senior stakeholders, technology leaders, and specialist security partners while developing your leadership skills and technical expertise.

We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation
Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.
