Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: This role is pan-London and will involve work from our Brent, London (Central), and Croydon Skylights. About the role 

Working across the Crisis teams in London, you will lead on the delivery of our volunteer programme. You will be responsible for the recruitment of new volunteers, the support of existing volunteers and volunteer supervisors to maintain a positive volunteer experience. You will work across teams to ensure volunteers’ experience of volunteering is positive and play a key role in volunteer retention. You will be collaborative and dynamic in working with the team to identify and develop new volunteering opportunities.  You will have the ability and confidence to increase the diversity and variety of our volunteering opportunities to reflect our local community and better serve our members. You will be flexible and innovative in reaching a diverse group of people from across the local community.

You will have experience of working with people who are socially excluded or with support needs. You will understand the importance of delivering equitable services and can empower our members to share their experience and contribute to continuous service adaptations and improvements. You will be creative and inclusive in establishing service-specific member involvement opportunities so members can influence our service locally. You will work across teams to ensure we deliver our service with people experiencing homelessness, instead of delivering a service to people experiencing homelessness. You will work with the central Crisis team to respond to member involvement opportunities, influencing policy and providing members with the opportunity to share their story with the wider public and media.

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and experienced practitioner to join Become’s Care Advice Service. They will respond to enquiries to our independent national Care Advice Line (CAL), advising children and young people in and leaving care, and professionals and caregivers supporting them, so that young people understand and access their rights, are signposted to specialist support, and feel less alone as they navigate care. They will deliver workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands, advising care experienced young people and care leavers to understand their rights.

Location

We are currently hybrid working: our team primarily works from home with in-person attendance and meetings generally expected once or twice per month, usually at our central hot-desking location in Old Street, London. For non-London based staff we will consider hot-desking options near you, if required. This role will deliver regular in-person workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands. As such Become is unable to meet the cost of travel for this from other regions, or the accumulation of TOIL for travelling to or from the region. However, any travel required within the West Midlands region for work purposes and required travel to our London office will be reimbursed by Become, as London is not the specified location for this role. We are open to conversations about flexible working arrangements.

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Head of Research Funding to lead our research funding activities and play a key role in implementing our new research strategy. As Head of Research Funding, you’ll ensure our research investment delivers impact where it’s needed most. Working closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Directorate, you’ll manage a dedicated team, develop effective funding schemes, and strengthen connections with researchers, review panels, and grant holders.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the Association’s research funding activities, delivering to agreed budgets and timelines.
• Ensure research priorities are focused on the needs of people affected by MND.
• Develop and implement new funding schemes that accelerate progress and support our strategic aims.
• Lead improvements to grant management systems, processes, and documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues to involve people affected by MND in funding decisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the research community, including members of our review panels, peer reviewers and grant holders
• Oversee all reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees related to research funding
• Contribute to annual business planning and continuous improvement within the Research Funding team.

About You

• Degree in a relevant subject.
• At least five years’ experience in research management, ideally within a charity or government funding organisation.
• Experience in management of complex operational functions related to the management of research funding
• Line management and performance management experience
• Strong background in developing and implementing grant management systems and processes.
• Experience in financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting.
• Experienced in business planning and process improvement

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Provide specialist emotional and practical support and information to people affected by brain tumours, their friends, families and carers through a variety of solutions including phone, email, webchat, online, social media plus new evolving channels
• Provide high quality information which reflects the most up to date research, clinical information and treatments, in a way people can understand. Conducting the research yourself and adapting your communication to suit the person you are supporting is key
• Offer coaching guidance to empower individuals, helping them to achieve the appropriate next steps
• Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Development Manager to recruit, train and manage volunteers who assist in delivering support services
• Lead on aspects of cross team projects and develop new resources that meet our community’s needs, while collaborating with other teams and external partners

• Developing information for our website and other resources, for example, writing initial drafts and reviewing information

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on all aspects of mass participation fundraising events, from recruitment and engagement of participants to event-day logistics and post-event stewardship.
• Develop and implement creative campaigns to maximise participant sign-ups, fundraising income, and supporter retention.
• Build strong relationships with participants, corporate partners, and event organisers to enhance The Sussex Beacon’s presence and reputation.

This role delivers a range of dynamic and engaging financial education programmes to young people,adults, and professionals. As part of our Programmes and Delivery Directorate, our trainers love working with our participants; they’re the front line of our work, representing Money Ready’s exceptional programme quality in a range of settings.

This role will work with both children and adults across our programme suite and will require significant travel to our delivery locations throughout the area to deliver face-to-face sessions to diverse groups of learners. Occasional virtual sessions will also need to be delivered. All delivery-related travel is covered.

The Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser will lead on identifying new corporate prospects, developing compelling proposals, and managing a portfolio of existing partners. They will create and deliver partnership plans that may include sponsorship, employee fundraising, cause-related marketing, and volunteering. Team Beacon

Team Beacon is the charity’s fundraising event brand, bringing together supporters through challenge events, campaigns, and volunteering. The Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser will work closely with the fundraising team to integrate corporate teams into Team Beacon activities, encourage staff engagement, and develop sponsorship packages for major events such as The Brighton Half Marathon, which we own, and community challenges. This collaborative approach enhances visibility and fosters a sense of shared purpose among partners and supporters alike.

Business Networking Events

The postholder will represent The Sussex Beacon at a variety of business networking events, including LGBTQ+ network events, across Sussex and beyond. This is a great opportunity to be part of a specialist, trauma-informed service supporting 68 highly vulnerable adults in Lewisham who have experienced homelessness and face multiple challenges including mental health issues, complex needs, substance use, and trauma.

In the role of Project Worker you will be joining our busy client focused service to:

• Use a person-centred approach to support clients in identifying and working towards their personal goals.
• Respond to incidents and crises as part of a team, prioritising safety and wellbeing.
• Provide practical and emotional support in a caring, approachable way.
• Contribute to a safe, high-quality accommodation service as part of a committed team.

About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join our growing and dynamic team. With a new CEO having joined the team in June we are on exciting journey of growth and development with a passion and commitment to fund specialist end of life care across West Northamptonshire.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the finance team and finance volunteers.
• Lead on month-end closing processes and producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
• Lead on year-end closing processes and oversee the audit process liaising with the auditors as required.
• Oversee payroll, cash management and the investment portfolio.
• Prepare VAT returns. Act as the key contact for VAT and ensure robust systems are in place to comply with HMRC requirements.
• Lead on the collaboration with the commercial and income generation departments to ensure accurate processes are in place, to include the sharing of data through manual or automated integration.
• Manage accruals and prepayments.
• Be the main contact for the use of the finance system and lead on resolving any issues.
