London Recovery Network Coordinator

Role purpose

The London Recovery Network Coordinator will provide day-to-day coordination, oversight and development of the Network, ensuring that it operates effectively, inclusively and in line with its strategic objectives.

The postholder will act as a central connecting point between recovery communities, peer-led organisations, treatment providers, commissioners and London-wide partners, supporting collaboration, shared learning and system influence. A key aspect of the role will be supporting the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience and helping to build the foundations for the Network’s long-term sustainability.

Background

The London Recovery Network (LRN) brings together individuals and organisations committed to supporting recovery from problematic drug and alcohol use. The Network aims to improve awareness, visibility and connectivity across the recovery landscape, enabling professionals, peers and communities to better understand and share available recovery support across London.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in coordinating, developing and strengthening the London Recovery Network as it continues to grow and progresses towards a more formal, sustainable and potentially standalone organisation.

The role is hosted by Collective Voice, acting as the umbrella organisation for the London Recovery Network.

While the role is hybrid, there will be a requirement to attend regular meetings and events in London and build local relationships, so the successful candidate will need to live within a one-hour commuting distance from Central London.

We plan to hold interviews in person in Central London on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd of September.

Key duties and responsibilities

Network coordination and operations

• Provide oversight and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the London Recovery Network.
• Coordinate the delivery of quarterly and annual LRN events, including planning, logistics, promotion and follow-up.
• Support and recruit new partners to the LRN working group and wider network.
• Maintain and update the LRN community asset map, ensuring information is accurate, current and accessible.
• Be responsible for coordinating network communications and online presence through the LRN website and social media channels.

Strategic development and governance

• Support the development and delivery of the LRN action plan, aligned to agreed priorities.
• Provide coordination and administrative support to the LRN Steering Group and any sub-groups, including agenda-setting, papers, action tracking and follow-up.
• Support the development of appropriate governance arrangements, policies and partnership agreements as the Network progresses towards a more formal and potentially standalone structure.

Stakeholder engagement and system influence

• Build and maintain strong relationships with recovery communities, peer-led organisations, service providers, commissioners and London-wide partners.
• Act as a conduit for sharing intelligence, learning and good practice across the London recovery system.
• Represent the LRN at relevant regional or national meetings, events and forums, where appropriate.

Lived experience and inclusion

• Ensure people with lived experience of substance use treatment and recovery are meaningfully involved in LRN activities, events and decision-making.
• Promote inclusive and recovery-oriented approaches that reflect London’s diverse communities, including women, families, ethnically diverse communities and people experiencing multiple disadvantage.

Communications and knowledge sharing

• Coordinate LRN communications activity, including newsletters, briefings and digital content, in line with agreed priorities.
• Support the development of resources that promote recovery visibility, challenge stigma and highlight community-based support.
• Capture and share learning, impact and outcomes from LRN activity.

Funding, finance and sustainability

• Actively support and contribute to fundraising and income generation activity, identifying opportunities to support the Network’s sustainability.
• Manage and track the LRN budget, ensuring expenditure remains within agreed limits.
• Oversee the preparation, submission and follow-up of accurate invoices and financial information for funders.

Monitoring and reporting

• Support proportionate monitoring of LRN activity, outputs and impact.
• Contribute to reports and updates for funders and stakeholders, including progress, risks and emerging issues.

Person specification

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of supporting or coordinating projects, programmes or networks.
• Strong understanding of, and commitment to, recovery from drug and alcohol use, particularly in the London context.
• Experience of working in partnership with community, voluntary or peer-led organisations.
• Good financial management skills, with experience of managing or monitoring budgets responsibly.
• Ability to supervise and support volunteers in the LRN, including working with external volunteer leads from partner organisations.
• Ability to organise, support and chair meetings involving a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
• Strong digital communication skills including the use of social media platforms.
• Ability to work with website hosts to update and manage the LRN website
• Strong IT skills, including confident use of the Microsoft Office package.

 Desirable

• Experience of fundraising, bid development or supporting income generation activity.
• Experience of coordinating lived experience or co-production approaches.
• Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care and community-based recovery support.
• Experience of supporting governance or organisational development within the voluntary or community sector.
• Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion principles in programme delivery.
