Volunteer Coordinator 

Contract:  Permanent | 4 days / 28 hrs per week  

Location:  Hybrid (North London community service locations / homeworking)

FEAST With Us (FEAST) is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Volunteer Coordinator to play a key role in growing, supporting and celebrating our incredible volunteer community, with skills and passion for building relationships and delivering community impact.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and you'll oversee the entire volunteer journey, from attraction and recruitment through to onboarding, development, engagement and recognition. You'll be the central point of contact, ensuring volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience while helping us continue to expand and strengthen our volunteer programme.  

About FEAST With Us - Feeding and Empowering All Sustainably Together (FEAST)  

FEAST’s mission is to improve the nutrition, wellbeing, and health of people at risk of food insecurity. We work across London with charity and community partners to deliver nutrutious meal services and healthy eating programmes in homeless hostels and community centres.

Our meals use surplus food, and provide welcoming, inclusive spaces that bring people together and reduce loneliness. Our healthy eating programme empowers people by building nutrition knowledge, and developing practical cooking, food hygiene and budgeting skills. 

We’re a small but ambitious charity, with a passionate, supportive and collaborative team of 11 staff and 9 Trustees, supported by c200 volunteers.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Volunteer recruitment: 

  • Identify opportunities and develop meaningful and impactful roles for service delivery, skilled and corporate volunteers 

  • Promote volunteer opportunities through different channels and networks 

  • Implement initiatives to diversify our volunteer base and reduce barriers to volunteering 

  • Build relationships with community organisations, partners, education providers and local networks 

  • Safely and efficiently onboard new volunteers

Volunteer management: 

  • Develop and implement the volunteer management strategy 

  • Act as first point of contact for volunteers

  • Develop and manage corporate volunteering partnerships 

  • Maintain volunteer records, compliance documentation and reporting data

  • Monitor, report and analyse volunteer data and key metrics

  • Collect accurate and insightful data and case studies on the volunteers and their impact 

  • Identify volunteering requirements and ensure sufficient coverage across projects and services 

  • Review and improve volunteer processes and frameworks 

  • Develop and manage our volunteer management platform, Volunteero 

Volunteer engagement & retention 

  • Chair the Board of Volunteers to ensure volunteer voices are heard and represented 

  • Coordinate volunteer communications, events, recognition activities and development opportunities 

  • Make sure volunteer opportunities are nurturing and provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment 

  • Implement appropriate reward and recognition initiatives to highlight volunteer impact and say thank you

  • Gather volunteer feedback

Line Management Responsibilities: PT Volunteer Administrator (1 day per week) 

You will have

  • > two years’ experience in volunteer management / coordination or community outreach 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across multiple channels 

  • Empathy and patience when working with diverse groups of people  

  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders 

  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to details

  • Results-driven approach with focus on outcomes and deliverables 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

  • Line management and team-building experience

  • Adaptability, resilience and a positive mindset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and volunteer management systems (ideally Volunteero)

  • Marketing and communications capabilities, including use of Canva 

  • Level 3 Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to complete)

Desirable experience:

  • CRM systems, ideally Beacon 

  • Data management and analysis skills 

  • Project management, corporate partnership management or events management

  • Food insecurity and/or nutrition
