Role Purpose: 

The Helpline Advisor will be the first point of contact for individuals reporting incidents of anti-Muslim hate. The role requires delivering empathetic, confidential, and high-quality support to callers, as well as accurately recording reports and ensuring all relevant procedures are followed. 

Helpline Advisors will support service users via multiple channels—phone, email, SMS, WhatsApp, online chat and web form, by listening actively, offering appropriate information, and making referrals to specialist services where required. They will work closely with the Helpline Supervisor and participate in debriefs and reflective practice after each shift or reported incident. 

Advisors will also play an important role in ensuring accurate data capture, safeguarding procedures, and upholding the values of compassion, non-judgement, and confidentiality. 

Role Responsibilities:  

• Answer incoming calls from victims of hate crime with empathy and professionalism. 
    

• Provide support to service users using a variety of methods, including telephone, email, SMS, online chat, online forms, and other written reports. 
    

• Provide clear, appropriate advice, support, and information to service users, using a non-judgemental and person-centred approach. 
    

• Keep accurate, detailed electronic records of each contact, including advice given, support offered, and agreed referrals. 
    

• Understand when it is necessary to seek support from more experienced colleagues or external agencies and take appropriate action. 
    

• Make referrals to other agencies when necessary, including child and adult protection concerns, on the advice of senior staff. 
    

• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with data protection and safeguarding policies. 
    

• Engage sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who may be distressed, traumatised, or in crisis (trauma-informed approach) 
    

• Participate in supervision, debriefs, team meetings, and reflective practice sessions. 
    

• Participate in training and professional development to stay informed of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices. 
    

• Contribute to service evaluation and team-wide improvements. 
    

• Deliver informative presentations on reporting processes and service pathways to different audiences, ensuring information is clear, accessible, and appropriate to the audience. 
    

• Support stakeholder engagement with police, local councils, and relevant partner agencies to strengthen reporting pathways, referral processes, and community confidence. 
    

• Deliver helpline services during evenings and weekends as a required part of the rota, ensuring appropriate coverage for service users outside standard office hours. 
    

• Carry out general office administration tasks, attend relevant internal and external meetings, and support day-to-day service coordination as required. 
    

• Undertake online monitoring and related reporting activity during quieter periods or downtime on the helpline, in line with organisational procedures and priorities. 
    

• Work as part of a small, supportive team. 

 
Person Specification:  

• Experience in helpline, support work, or similar client-facing roles. 
    

• Understanding of hate crime and its impacts, particularly on Muslim communities. 
    

• Excellent listening, communication, and note-taking skills. 
    

• Ability to manage emotional content and maintain professional boundaries. 
    

• Strong understanding and knowledge of anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia. 
    

• Excellent understanding of British Muslim communities, their diversity, and everyday practices. 

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote/hybrid setting. 
    

• Experience working with marginalised communities or individuals affected by discrimination or trauma is an asset. 

• Familiarity with call-handling software or CRMs (e.g., RingCentral, Zoho) is desirable but not necessary. 

• Commitment to the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion. 

• Strong commitment to inclusion, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds feel heard, respected, and supported. This includes working sensitively with people of all faiths and none, and with diverse identities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, queer Muslims, Muslims from minority sects, and other marginalised or intersectional communities.

About the role:

This role is based at our National Contact Centre in Cardiff. There will be an initial induction period that will run Monday to Friday 9am-5pm for a 4 week period. After successfully completing your induction, you will move to your fixed rota hours.

As a Helpline Adviser you will:

• Able to respond to victims of and those affected by crime by providing emotional support, information and referrals on to Victim Support services and other agencies
• Providing immediate support, advice and trauma first aid referrals to victims of and those affected by major incidents and terrorism.
• Seamlessly working across multiple services with different processes, procedures and recording mechanisms.
• Managing and responding appropriately to competing priorities, services and needs.
• Responsible for taking disclosures and responding appropriately by either escalating the safeguarding concern to the 'Designated Safeguarding Officer' or to respond immediately to life threatening situations.

You will need:

• Experience of working in challenging and changing environments with the emphasis on excellence in service delivery.
• Experience of organising and prioritising a complex workload.
• The ability to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrate empathy and control own emotions.

Then join us to lead a team of specialist caseworkers, supporting survivors to address practical issues and empower them in their recovery!

The RISE Team Leader will be a skilled independent domestic and sexual violence advocate who will oversee a small team of case and group workers as well as managing Helpline volunteers. She will be a qualified IDVA and ISVA or be willing to complete the accreditations in the first six months in post.

She will hold a caseload of her own and coordinate a team providing support and guidance through a range of interventions and support offers working closely with an experienced Manager and other Team Leaders. Together with their team they will build, maintain and create links to deliver survivor-focused, trauma aware/ responsive support to help survivors and their family to cope and recover.

They will be the lead on developing, implementing and coordinating the Helpline, Casework and Projects with day-to-day practice oversight of staff and volunteers. The Team Leader will work co-operatively and flexibly alongside RISE colleagues providing expert input and contributing to the effective running of the organisation as a whole.

We are looking to recruit HopeLine24/7 Advisers to provide individually tailored suicide prevention advice and guidance to young people and those who are concerned for them via our national multi-channel helpline HopeLine24/7 and deliver suicide prevention training online and in community settings across the UK.

What you will do:

• Work as part of a team providing suicide prevention support to a range of clients via multichannel communication platforms.
• Work on a 7-day shift system
• Use professional judgement to assess the needs of the service users who present with risk to life and manage and report any matters related to safeguarding.

• Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practise.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• a degree or professional qualification in Health or Social Care, Community Work or a related discipline

Salary: £16,230.50 per annum progressing incrementally to £17,944.67 per annum. (Scale point 24-28). As a night shift worker, you will receive an additional allowance of £10 per night shift. This will be paid on a monthly basis along with the salary.

Working arrangements:  This role will work shifts starting at 10:25pm and finishing at 7:40am. Shifts will be on a rota bases across a 7-day working week.

The role involves representing Unseen at events, leading pitches and presentations, developing compelling proposals, and supporting contract negotiations to secure new business and meet revenue targets. This includes warm-calling prospective partners and leading on email outreach campaigns to build a strong, well-qualified pipeline. Success in this role will depend on the individual being highly proactive in uncovering, creating, and driving new opportunities forward.

SarcoidosisUK is a small charity with big ambitions! We want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by sarcoidosis in the UK by providing information and support, raising awareness and undertaking research into treatments and a cure.  We currently support over 9,000 people online and have strong relationships with both clinicians and patients.

The charity receives no government funding, generating its income only from personal and corporate donations, grants, legacies and merchandise sales.

Funds raised are used to provide support services, grow awareness, operate the Nurse Helpline, and fund research activities. The need for support is growing, and we must raise £250,000 each year, part of this will be the Fundraising Executive’s responsibility.

This is a varied role for someone who is enthusiastic and enjoys working with people managing multiple projects and a wide variety of tasks. No day is the same!

The staff team is small (currently just three) which requires a flexible approach, including participating in trustee meetings (with time off in lieu) leading to a high-level understanding of the charity. You will have the opportunity to present your views and opinions on fundraising and events and build close relationships with the Chair and trustees.

 
Duties and Responsibilities

Work closely with the Senior Executive and Support Services Manager in a close-knit team, as needed, so that SarcoidosisUK can continue to deliver a quality experience to patients and their supporters whilst growing income and expanding fundraising activities.

Main aspects of the role include:

Fundraising (85%)

• Community fundraising through events, engaging volunteer fundraisers and managing all aspects of the supporter journey.
• Attending events and motivating participants (time off can be taken in lieu).
• Devising campaigns and activities to raise funds, and publicising through social media, our website and direct marketing.
• Identifying, applying to, and managing relationships with grant giving organisations.
• Researching and implementing innovative ways to fundraise.
• Building relationships with those affected by sarcoidosis and major donors with the emphasis on high quality and enduring relationships.
• Managing supporter database and using data to develop insights and generate new and recurring income 

Social Media and Website (15%)

• Managing and expanding the website’s content (WordPress)
• Maintaining social media content across the main platforms (Meta, X, YouTube and LinkedIn) using our content management tool (Buffer) and designing artwork (Canva)
• Managing merchandise through the online store (WordPress, Stripe and Woocommerce)
• Contributing ideas and material to our monthly newsletter and other communications.

And any other duties as reasonably required to support the charity.

The role is hybrid and flexible, with two days per week based at our office in Vauxhall, London. A DBS check will be required.

Benefits:

Salary £30,000 - £32,000 subject to experience

Working days – Monday – Friday 9am - 5pm with a 1 hour lunch break

Employer pension contribution 3%

Paid holiday – 25 days in a calendar year (plus bank holidays), increasing by 1 day per year after 3 years to a maximum of 28 days (up to 5 days can be held over until 28 February)

This is an exciting opportunity to lead IRMO’s Advice programme. As our Senior Advice Programme Manager, you’ll manage a dedicated team and oversee a range of initiatives that provide high-quality information and advice services to respond to the changing needs of our community.

The Advice programme provides trusted information, resources, advice and casework in Spanish and Portuguese on key areas of need, including immigration, welfare entitlements, housing and homelessness prevention. IRMO is accredited by the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) at Level 3. We are also members of Advice UK and receive second-tier support from Southwark Law Centre.

Alongside this, the programme works with local health boards to run initiatives designed to improve access to health services, such as HIV testing, sexual health and family planning advice and Chagas disease testing. You will also oversee IRMO’s Community Support service, which manages community enquiries daily at our Brixton centre and through our helpline, provides emergency crisis support and coordinates our Community Interpreting service, as well as connects service users with internal or external support.

These initiatives support people facing difficulties and help them build the skills and confidence to navigate complex systems. All of our work is shaped by the views of our beneficiaries, keeping our services relevant and responsive.

As Senior Advice Programme Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development of the Advice programme, ensuring our work is high-quality, impactful and responsive to the needs of our community. You’ll help grow the programme by strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ones.

As a Student Advisor (Student Finance), you'll provide free, independent and confidential advice to students at the University of Manchester. You’ll be a generalist Student Advisor while also while also taking the lead on student finance and money advice. You'll become our team's specialist in this area, helping students understand their funding options, access financial support and navigate financial challenges. As a generalist advisor you’ll be providing advice and guidance across all areas of the Advice Service, including academic issues and regulations, University disciplinary procedures, housing and wider student life matters.

With the rising cost of living and increasing complexity of student funding, you’ll play a key role in helping students access the financial support they need and empowering them to make informed decisions. We’re looking for someone who can support students professionally, sensitively and with empathy, ensuring they feel heard, informed and confident about their next steps.
