Job Description
At Hft, our vision is to create a future where learning disabled people can live the best life possible. We do this by coming together to campaign for positive change, provide personalised support and create solutions for living independently.
We’re looking for a creative, organised and confident Internal Communications Officer to join our Communications team and help colleagues across Hft stay informed, connected and engaged.
This is a varied role for someone who enjoys creating great content, building relationships and making information accessible and engaging. From writing news stories and producing newsletters to creating videos, presentations and communications packs, you’ll play an important role in bringing Hft’s stories, messages and people to life.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Hft to:
- Monitor and manage the Communications and Families inboxes, responding to enquiries and directing requests to the right teams.
- Source, write and publish engaging content for The Hub, our staff intranet, including at least three news articles each week.
- Support the production of Hft News Flash, our fortnightly colleague newsletter, from storyboarding and copywriting through to editing and sourcing imagery.
- Produce a range of engaging communications materials, including videos, presentations, posters, flyers, FAQs and information sheets.
- Develop and circulate family e-updates and communications packs for colleagues across our regions.
- Support reactive communications and sensitive change projects, helping to coordinate communications plans, key messages, factsheets and corporate emails.
- Work collaboratively with the External Communications team to develop, share and repurpose content across different channels.
- Source and manage photography, video and appropriate consent, ensuring content is stored and managed effectively.
- Support the development of existing and new internal communication channels across Hft.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our internal communications, using analytics, feedback and engagement data to help us continually improve.
- Contribute to team processes, content planning, activity tracking and regular communications meetings.
- Build strong relationships across Hft, helping information flow effectively and raising the profile of internal communications.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is creative, curious and proactive, with a genuine interest in great internal communications.
You’ll have experience of creating engaging content for different audiences and channels, with strong writing and editing skills and an excellent eye for detail. You’ll be comfortable working across a variety of formats, from written communications and intranet content to presentations and video.
You’ll also be someone who enjoys working collaboratively. You’ll need to build relationships with colleagues at all levels, understand what they need from communications and be confident bringing ideas, asking questions and sharing your expertise.
You’ll be organised and able to manage competing priorities, including responding quickly when reactive or sensitive communications are required.
Most importantly, you’ll understand that effective internal communications are about more than simply sharing information. You’ll be passionate about creating communications that are clear, accessible, engaging and meaningful for our colleagues and the people we support.
Why join Hft?
At Hft, you’ll be part of a team working to create positive change for learning disabled people. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference through the way you connect, inform and engage our colleagues across the organisation.
Working arrangements
This is a national hybrid role with regular travel to Hft services and other locations across the organisation.
