Context of the role.

The successful candidate will be guided by the Communications & Fundraising Officer to communicate the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers and demonstrate the impact of Upbeat Communities to our supporters and followers, as well as to new audiences. They will have a positive attitude and love communicating what we do as a charity.

The role can mostly be done remotely; however, it will be required for the candidate to travel to our base in Derby a minimum of 1 day a week to stay connected to the team, and for team meetings and training as and when they occur.

Upbeat Communities was founded in response to the needs of refugees arriving in the UK and the stories they shared of their lives and their journeys. Through building relationships with those from refugee communities we were able to identify their needs and the best ways to respond.

One of the best resources a refugee can have to help them settle in their new home is a good social network. Relationships and connectedness can help overcome the many challenges faced by those seeking refuge. With this aim, we want to help connect refugees into community.

Our name reflects our vision to see thriving, positive communities where refugees can contribute and make the most of opportunities.

We greet new arrivals with our Welcome Boxes befriending project. We offer free English classes and community activities to help refugees (adults and children) integrate. We empower refugees to rebuild their lives through Host Derby (temporary accommodation), mentoring (careers guidance) and the UK Refugee Resettlement Scheme, which local authorities contract us to deliver. We also empower the local community through awareness raising.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Content creation

•  Creating written and visual content for social media and our website.
• Finding useful resources, articles, and news to be shared on our website, blog and social media.

Social media and website

•  Day-to-day management of Upbeat’s social media accounts including creating and scheduling content, replying to messages, and interacting with followers.
•  Updating the website with relevant images, statistics, and news.

Supporter stewardship

• Following Upbeat’s donations process, ensure donors are thanked in an appropriate and timely manner, and that all communications are logged on to our database (Donorfy).
• Researching local fundraising or awareness-raising opportunities and events.

Other

• Working with Upbeat’s Communications & Fundraising Officer on larger-scale fundraising campaigns throughout the year, as well as the communication of these campaigns.
• Making an active contribution to the overall work of Upbeat Communities through team meetings, staff training, awareness and fundraising events, and any other appropriate activities.
• Being committed to and working in accordance with Upbeat’s values and ethos, as well as adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.

About us:

At Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice we care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. Our support services are wide ranging and bespoke to each family including end of life treatment and care, respite short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and much much more. 

It costs more than £5m each year to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive around 15% of our funding from government and the rest is sourced by our Income Generation team.  

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Income Generation team at Bluebell Wood and we are now on the lookout for an experienced fundraiser to join us and take on the responsibility of developing, implementing and delivering the hospice’s Individual Giving portfolio.  

This is an area with a potential for significant growth over the next 1-3 years and beyond, and we are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable self-starter to steer the next chapter of our progress and development as our Individual Giving Fundraiser.

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery and administration of Bluebell Wood’s Individual Giving income streams (in memory, legacy and regular giving) and work with the Individual Giving Manager to plan and implement a strategy to increase income growth in this area.

Children and Young People’s Engagement Coordinator

Lancashire Mind

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for building a fairer legal system through impactful events, engaging member outreach, and powerful communications. Working alongside the Director of Development and the Head of Communications, this role will work across teams to maintain and strengthen engagement through events, communications and corporate outreach. Energise Sussex Coast is a community benefit society. Our mission is to work together to end fuel poverty and protect the environment through community led local green power & energy saving schemes.

Responsibilities

- Work in collaboration with the ESC team and stakeholders to design a programme of inspiring energy and climate themed events in Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne, and Wealden, reaching a total of 1000 residents across the year.

- Create engagement opportunities for your team at the events and activities of other organisations and local groups by networking and working with the Communications and Marketing person to promote our services.

- Find interesting speakers and organisations to participate in our events.

- Create public events for our No One Left Behind project, finding new, exciting ways to engage the public in conversation about energy and climate topics.

- Manage the administration and logistics of the events, including room bookings, ticket booking processes, etc.

- Look for opportunities to invite our funder along to events and participate in the activities.

- Manage relationships with staff team and volunteer Energy Champions on local events.

- Create event plans and risk assessments for each event.

- Work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and local volunteers to plan PR and promotion of events to agreed timelines.

- Create and work to agreed budgets.

- Ensure you are collecting the data needed to monitor and evaluate the project.

- Create inclusivity in the event registration and attendance experience to support people with a variety of needs.

- Ensure events feed into the wider work and services of Energise Sussex Coast.

- Provide event reports to manager detailing the number of attendees, write-up of the event, and feedback.

- Provide general assistance with ESC events and projects as required.

- Adhere to Energise Sussex Coast’s policies around safeguarding, data protection, etc.

- Attend monthly in-person team meetings in Hastings.

Key Details

• Hours: 30 hours a week, flexible working. Will include some evening and weekend work.

We’re looking for a creative and confident Content & Communications Coordinator to join our busy Marketing & Communications Team at Imperial College Union. This new role will be key in strengthening our online presence and improving student engagement with the Union. Duties and responsibilities

Content Planning

• To assist in the creation of communications and content plans to support the Marketing & Engagement Manager in the delivery of key Union marketing activity, such as Welcome Week and election.
• In partnership with the Marketing & Engagement Manager devise a social schedule to ensure regular, timely and impactful content across these channels
• Build networks with student groups, the Union’s newspaper (Felix) and external partners to develop opportunities for content collaboration
• Utilise student feedback and engagement with Union content to continue to improve and develop our output and channels

Role summary

Working within our fundraising and communications team, you will support the management of our communications portfolio of work. You will also support on fundraising within the organisation, gaining experience across a wide variety of income generation areas. This will typically focus on applications to small Trusts and Foundations, the delivery of our events and the implementation of our individual giving programme.

1. Manage Able Child Africa’s social channels, working with our creative assets and key messages, to maintain a professional and engaging external brand.

2. Support the management a vibrant and responsive website by ensuring content is up to date, professional and engaging; supporting the collection of imagery, videos, case studies and blogs where directed.

8. Support Able Child Africa’s individual giving programme, assisting with donor communications, building relationships with donors and growing our income.

9. Support community fundraising activities, empowering existing and newly sourced supporters, (including schools, universities and other members of the public) to independently generate funds for Able Child Africa through independent events and activities.

Provide other support to the Fundraising and Communications and wider operational teams as agreed, including supporting routine office operations.

10. Maintain our Salesforce database, keeping detailed records of communications, support and donations from individuals and organisations.

11. Support our advocacy objectives, working with the Advocacy team to produce high quality and consistent messaging for use within the international development sector.

Experience

1. At least one years’ experience in a fundraising or communications support role.

2. Experience of managing or supporting the management of events to, ideally including managing volunteers or supporters to raise funds.

3. Experience or knowledge of managing individual donors with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders (including public, media and donors) to advance a cause.

As a dedicated marketing resource in this small but energetic charity team, the role of marketing assistant is to help elevate Youth Talk’s story and brand awareness amongst its target markets. The primary focus and accountability is to deliver on fundraising goals, driving awareness and new funding leads from its designated target markets.

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager this will include responsibility for creating and managing impactful marketing content and campaigns that grow the brand profile and drive fundraising income. This would be working across all channels including social media, search, PR, events and website content. This new position will build on the significant work and achievements of the last couple of years and you will support the strategic development of our fundraising marketing plan. 

This will require working closely with all the Youth Talk team as well as sourcing content from corporate partners, funders and external suppliers and stakeholders.

As the post-holder, you will be working in our Camden Women's Recovery Service hostel providing specialist interventions for a designated caseload and to the wider client group, via our in-house recovery programme. 

Your role will be working intensively with the residents on their supports needs. The role of Complex Needs Project Worker is a specialist role, designed to work with people who may be more difficult to reach and establish working relationships with.  As such, you will role model good practice for working with those who have experienced multiple disadvantage by adopting a trauma informed approach.

Within this setting, you will also work to establish a culture of co-production where residents are at the forefront of the work that is carried out, helping to promote autonomy and build individual confidence and interpersonal skills.

The rota for the post is earlies (8 am - 4 pm) and lates (2.30pm - 10.30pm).

About you:

• Previous experience of working with female rough sleepers or people with complex mental health, physical health or substance use support needs. 
• An understanding of working with people using person-centred approaches and working collaboratively within a harm minimisation and recovery framework.
