Peripatetic Service Coordinator - Mental Health

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate leader to join our Mental Health Services as a Peripatetic Service Coordinator, supporting teams across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people with complex mental health needs while supporting and developing high-performing teams.

As a Service Coordinator, you will lead teams to support people with complex mental health needs to achieve their goals, build independence, and develop the skills and confidence needed to live fulfilling lives within their communities. You will help people build resilience, develop practical life skills, strengthen community connections, and take greater control of their future through person-centred support.

You will be an inspirational and supportive leader with excellent communication and listening skills, able to motivate, develop and empower colleagues to deliver outstanding support. You will have a strong understanding of person-centred practice and a commitment to promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and recovery-focused support.

You will ensure services operate safely, effectively and in line with relevant legislation, regulations and organisational standards, while evidencing positive outcomes for the people we support.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the day-to-day operation of services, including rota planning and resource allocation, to ensure people receive the right support at the right time.
• Supporting teams to co-produce and regularly review support plans, risk assessments and positive risk management strategies.
• Providing regular supervision, coaching and performance support to team members, while ensuring training and development needs are met.
• Contributing to referrals, assessments and service transition planning.
• Monitoring service budgets and expenditure in line with organisational expectations.
• Providing direct, hands-on support when required and leading by example in delivering high-quality care and support.

The successful candidate will:

• Demonstrate strong leadership skills, with experience of supervising, leading or coordinating a team.
• Be highly organised and able to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Have experience supporting people with complex mental health needs and a sound understanding of recovery-focused practice.
• Be confident in responding to people who are experiencing acute mental illness, in dynamic risk management and developing escalation plans to ensure that people receive the support that they need.
• Have knowledge of mental health services, legislation and best practice, including experience of trauma-informed approaches.
• Be flexible to work across a seven-day service, including a variety of shift patterns as required.
