Job description

About the role

  • Operational, digital systems and branch support
  • Full-time, five days per week
  • Office based, with regular travel to Crosslight branches and some home working
  • Salary range from £28k to £31k depending on experience, with the expectation that all desirable and essential attributes within the job description should be in evidence to achieve the top of this range (see job pack on our website)
  • Competitive benefits including 27 days holiday, enhanced pension scheme, health cashback scheme, access to employee support programme incl. GP appointments

Do you want to help lift some of the most vulnerable in our communities out of poverty? Do you want work with a small, compassionate, dynamic charity, and help change lives? If so, we would love to talk to you.

This role will help Crosslight's central office and branch network run smoothly.  Working with the Head of Operations, the postholder will provide practical operational and digital systems support to colleagues across our branch teams as well as our central office functions of Advice Services, People, Financial Capability & Fundraising.

The role combines first-line support, routine administration, branch engagement, user guidance, communications, and improvement work. You will help staff and volunteers use our systems confidently, keep records and access arrangements organised, and learn how Microsoft 365, our CRMs and other digital platforms work behind the scenes.

This role is ideal for someone with aptitude, curiosity and reliability who is keen to build practical knowledge with support from colleagues and specialist suppliers.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We believe ability and potential count more than direct experience. You will need to show how you have developed the transferable skills required for this role. Experience may have been gained through employment, study, volunteering, a placement or an early-career role.

Essential

  • Confident and proficient IT user skills across digital platforms including Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • A demonstrable interest in how technology works behind the scenes – e.g. the administration and back-office functions of Microsoft 365, CRMs and other platforms – and a desire to develop this knowledge further
  • A practical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical problems, with the ability to gather information, follow a process and know when to ask for help
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information in plain English, and competent use of spreadsheets
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to build supportive working relationships with staff, volunteers, suppliers and colleagues across a branch network
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Crosslight branches
  • Commitment to confidentiality, data protection, information security and Crosslight procedures

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience of administering or supporting Microsoft 365, a CRM, database administration, IT support or digital communications
  • Awareness of Cyber Essentials or basic cyber security principles
  • Experience of any of Thinkific, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, Typeform or Squarespace
  • Experience in a charity, advice, community or volunteer-led setting

About Crosslight

Crosslight works to lift people out of poverty and help them build a better future. We long for our communities to flourish and for no one to be left behind, and our vision for our staff and volunteers is more than just a job, it is an opportunity to make a difference.

Crosslight was born out of the ministry of the local church and retains a strong Christian ethos which informs and underpins the values by which we operate. Our calling is to work in partnership with local churches and community organisations to serve anyone in need, irrespective of their race, gender, religion, sexuality or any other characteristics. Together with our partners, we strive to effect lasting change and increase the capacity of our clients to realise their full potential.

We are of our community and for our community – we are ‘all together’, and we would love for you to join us.

“Working for Crosslight has been life changing for me. I love the people that I work with and the supportive environment that has been created – everyone really looks out for each other. Crosslight really cares about their clients and treats everyone as an individual. It is hugely rewarding.” Sarah, staff member
