We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who is methodical and detail oriented in their approach, who is a compassionate leader, able to set an example of our values (Ambition, Empowerment, Transparency, Inclusivity). OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to JDPS attached for more info

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Adequate understanding of the importance and mechanics of document control and writing policy and procedure
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format

GRT are looking for an experienced, passionate and delivery focused Finance Manager to join our team in Birmingham. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial one-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. GRT’s aim is to eradicate poverty by providing humanitarian aid, relief and providing sustainable programmes to the needy across the globe. 

The ideal candidate will have a have a genuine understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and values of the GRT to implement the financial policies whilst working to support our dynamic teams. The Finance Manager will report directly to the CEO.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for preparing financial statements, overseeing monthly management accounts, managing payroll operations, handling accounts payable and receivable, and preparing the annual budget.

Main Responsibilities:

· Ensuring that financial and accounting services adhere to legal standards and contribute to the smooth operation of GRT activities.

· Annually reviewing and updating of all finance related policies.

· Creating an annual budget and regularly monitoring and comparing it with actual figures monthly.

· Managing the finance team by assigning tasks and overseeing their performance.

· Entering all financial data into finance software. (QuickBooks, Sage etc)

· Creating financial statements, overseeing cash management protocols, and managing accounts payable processes.

· Uploading pension contributions to the pension provider's platform

· Maintaining accurate ledgers and conducting monthly reconciliation of bank accounts.

· Ensuring the accuracy of monthly payroll processing.

· Handling banking activities for cash and cheques received.

· Reconciling donations received from online gateways such as JustGiving and Givebrite, as well as those received via standing order or direct debits.

· Administering invoice approval and payment processes, as well as operating expense claim procedures and payments.

· Addressing internal and external customer queries.

· Preparing project payments requests and donor receipts.

· Handling communications with HMRC regarding payroll and Gift Aid.

· Overseeing the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets in accordance with contractual and financial regulations.

· Overseeing all payments to suppliers and partner projects, including both local and international transactions.

· Generating month-end reports and quarterly project fund balances.

· Responding to bank inquiries and providing necessary information.

· Completing year-end QuickBooks reports for trustees and the accountant and addressing any inquiries they may have.

· Preparing for the year-end audit and managing inquiries from auditors.

· Concluding the year-end report and submitting it to the Charity Commission.

· Excellent working knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar software.

· Strong numerical, analytical, and strategic skills, including database development and management.

· Meticulous attention to detail.

· Excellent communication skills for presenting to various audiences, including non-financial specialists.

We are looking for someone who has experience of either operational or operational and strategic management skills, with a proven track record of leading, delivering and developing projects or services. 

Having a keen interest in the local community and a passion to ensure that local VCS within the Borough of Haringey is appropriately engaged with and supported, bringing people together and working in a role that can effect positive change resulting in improved outcomes for people who the VCS support and work with.

Someone with creativity in involving and reaching diverse groups and communities with a solid understanding of diversity and the implications for engagement, along with knowledge and experience of collaborative ways of working. Your communication skills will give you the confidence to interact with local communities, senior stakeholders, as well as build relationships with strategic partners and funders.

Job Summary

The Haringey Community Collaborative Manager is responsible for leading the development of the VCS Capacity Building strategy and the effective co-ordination of the Community Collaborative team which includes a Communications and Engagement Officer, a Workplace Development Manager, and a Capacity Building Manager.

We envisage the Haringey Community Collaborative Manager performing at either a primarily operational level or, for a more experienced candidate, at both operational and strategic levels. The salary range reflects this, with the upper end of the salary range reserved for candidates who can demonstrate an ability to deliver at both the operational and strategic levels.

Operationally, the postholder will have specific management responsibility for co-developing priorities for local VCS funding and capacity building, as well as the Volunteer Centre and wider VCS community of practice. The post holder has lead responsibility for developing the Annual Work Programme, performance management and reporting against the targets and milestones in the Contract.

Strategically, the role would include a wider contribution to the strategic management and development of Public Voice, supporting the CEO as required. This would include leading the shaping and delivery of a Capacity Building strategy; representing the VCS Alliance at stakeholder meetings and influencing key stakeholders to better support Haringey’s VCS; as well as growing the reach and impact of the Capacity Building service by engaging new funders and partners.

We are equally open to applications from candidates who feel they can deliver exclusively at an operational level, as well as those who feel they can also deliver at a strategic level. We would ask candidates to specify in their application whether they are applying for either the operational role, or the operational and strategic role.

This new role will lead on Platform’s People and Process functions as we progress through the next stage of our exciting restructure process.

We are a flat-structured organisation that makes decisions collectively. We are currently developing and designing a new organisational structure based on sociocracy where staff are supported to work more collectively and strategically across our seven programs. 

The focus of this role will be on transforming and strengthening our HR systems and processes to centre compassion, care and liberation. As well as delivering the day-to-day HR functions within our small organisation, this role will lead on the long-term design and implementation of a People Strategy and a Learning and Development Strategy, supporting our staff to develop their own roles while growing as a team within our new structure. Key priorities for this work will be:

• Leading a review of recruitment practices, with a particular focus on equity and anti-oppression

• Leading a review of our line management practices and processes

• Supporting the review of our Socially Just Waging System policy

This role will sit within our new ‘Resourcing Circle’ - working with the Finance and Fundraising staff and liaising with our Board of Trustees.

We are looking for someone passionate about radical HR practices, who is excited to help us develop a structure that empowers and adequately resources our team to deliver their work.

Details:

Hours: 4 days: 32 hours per week based on a 40 hour week, flexible hours possible.

Salary: Baseline salary as of March 2024 is £42,248 pro rata  (£33,791 at 4 days a week) and is subject to Platform’s Socially Just Waging System.

HALO has been working in Angola since 1994, and now employs over 1,400 staff (47% women) working in demining, explosive ordnance risk education, and conservation. There are over 70 different types of landmines in Angola from an estimated 41 years of minelaying during the war for independence and civil war which persisted from 1961 to 2002. The programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a diverse set of institutional, private, and corporate donors. As a signatory of the Ottawa Treaty, HALO supports the Government of Angola in reaching its treaty obligations. To date, HALO has cleared over 100,000 mines and made over 25km2 of land safe for use across the country.

This is a great opportunity to lead a dynamic and expanding team to deliver impactful projects. The Country Head will lead the strategy of the programme and have the autonomy to progress the programme through internal change and thematic expansion.

About the role:

HALO is seeking a dynamic and solution-oriented Country Head to lead the strategic direction of the programme in accordance with HALO’s organisational mission and goals. The Country Head will lead a senior leadership team of six mid-level managers who work across mine action operational delivery, environmental project delivery, human resources, finance, strategy, support services and a Chief of Staff. They will work in partnership with the Regional Director, Deputy Regional Director, and other HQ functional leads. The Country Head will serve as the legal and primary HALO representative in Angola and be accountable for the programme’s staff and assets, the execution of donor projects and relations with local authorities and partners.

The Country Director is responsible for leading the strategic direction of the programme, including the design, review, and implementation of the programme’s strategy in accordance with HALO’s organisational objectives and charitable purpose. This includes establishing long-term strategic goals for the programme and developing the capacity and strength of the existing team. The Angola programme has projects spanning across two of HALO’s three strategic goals and is especially focused on the expansion of activities surrounding women’s empowerment and inclusivity, and the linkages between conflict, conservation and mine action. The successful candidate to this role will be a strategic thinker, who can demonstrate previous experience successfully building capacity to achieve strategic objectives.

The Angola programme currently has twenty ongoing contracts from a variety of governmental, private, and commercial donors with an annual turnover of circa $16 million. The Country Head will oversee and lead the two programmatic Heads responsible for execution and delivery donor projects: Head of Mine Action, and Head of Environment. The Country Head will ensure that the other senior managers provide the necessary support to the programmatic Heads to ensure they have the resources, capacity and support required to operate in an effective and compliant manner. The successful candidate will need to have exceptional liaison skills as they work closely with the Head of Strategy to maintain and foster critical stakeholder relationships in Angola, specifically with the Government of Angola as the programmes’ largest donor. The Country Head will also need exceptional organisational and financial acumen as they are accountable for the programme’s financial and legal compliance with internal and national policies and legislation.

The successful candidate will need to be an inspiring leader, capable of managing the large and diverse workforce with a focus on empowerment, communication, and professional development. The Country Director will be needed to work on improving processes and procedures with a desire to lead on implementing impactful systematic change. This role requires a candidate with strong coordination capabilities, and a commitment to lead by example to maintain high professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the programme and foster a positive culture aligned with HALO’s values and standards, protecting, and enhancing the welfare of HALO’s staff and beneficiaries.
• Provide strategic input and support regarding the development of emerging programme opportunities and thematic growth inline with the programme and organisational strategies.
• Design and implement the programme’s long-term strategy and annual strategic goals.
• Develop the capacity and strength of the existing team, ensuring the correct staffing structure, capacity and skills are in place to achieve the programme’s strategic objectives and contractual commitments.
• Manage the senior leadership team to ensure compliance across all departments in the programme in accordance with HALO policies and procedures, national regulations and legislation, donor contracts and regulations.
• Ensure robust systems and reporting across the programme to enforce compliance through a thorough system of checks, monitoring, and accountability.
• Oversee and coordinate the senior leadership team to ensure budgetary and project contractual compliance.
• Manage the Head of Finance and regulate financial reporting to enforce monthly, annual and project cycle deadlines and internal and external regulatory requirements are met.

• Inspire, mentor, and manage across direct reports and the wider team, providing support to performance improvement or disciplinary processes for staff as required.
• Maintain a detailed understanding of the political, military, economic and security situation in the country to understand and evaluate risks as well as needs and opportunities.
• Review and assess existing and emerging risks in the country and provide or recommend appropriate mitigation measures (to include the Foreign Terrorist Organisation threat and sanctions).
• Ensure operational safety, emergency response and crisis management response and preparedness in coordination with the senior leadership team.
• Represent HALO with key stakeholders to maintain relationships with partners and donor representatives in country and raise HALO’s profile by building complementary partnerships and securing new funding opportunities.
• Review operational, financial, safeguarding, or other major incident investigation reports as required, ensuring timely and sufficient corrective actions are taken.
• Implement programme communications strategy and raise HALO’s profile through engagement with the media and with potential private donors and supporters.
• Report regularly and as required to HALO HQ and the Regional Director.
• Where appropriate, act as representative for the Regional Director / Deputy Regional Director.
• Carry out any other duties as required or directed in support of HALO’s mission.

Essential Requirements:

• Significant senior leadership experience within the INGO/ Humanitarian sector.
• Significant senior leadership experience of full cycle project management including design, implementation, evaluation, and accountability with a track record of achieving results.
• Experience in managing compliance across project management, financial, labour law and other departmental functions.
• Experience in strategy building and implementation.
• Proven experience establishing and maintaining new stakeholder relationships.
• Financial management and compliance.

The role

This exciting role within NLOS’s senior management team was created to help bring greater strategic alignment across NLOS and its charities and to better capitalise on new and existing opportunities. The post is critical to ensuring that we maximise the resources available to us through increased income generation and by forging strategic partnerships across multiple sectors and fields that allow us to increase and leverage support for each charity and provide a world class customer experience, while protecting and preserving green spaces of international significance. Remote/hybrid. We welcome applications from across England and Wales, however desk space is available at our London office in West Hampstead should the successful candidate be based in London.

Regular travel to London (approximately once a month) and occasional travel across England and Wales will be required.

Key responsibilities 

Organisational Leadership and line management 

• Deputise for the Director when necessary 

• Provide leadership and positive role modelling to the First Give team 

• Support organisation-wide improvements and innovation, including strategic planning and organisational structure 

• Develop connections and networks that increase the profile and opportunities for the charity 

• Work with the Director and Head of Programmes to create opportunities for young people to influence and engage with our work and impact 

• Line management of our Administrator 

Fundraising 

• Work with the Director and consultants to own and implement a robust fundraising strategy to support the organisation as it executes its new strategic plan 

• Develop processes for managing fundraising applications and stewardship of existing funders and supporters 

• Write and submit high quality, inspiring and tailored funding applications and reports for trusts and foundations (expected to be in the region of £10,000-150,000) 

• Identify and develop potential new funding opportunities for First Give, including major donors and corporate funders 

• Manage relationships with a set number of key funders, ensuring that we proactively seek feedback, engagement and involvement in our work 

New School Partner Recruitment 

• Oversee and co-ordinate all new school partner recruitment sales and marketing activity 

• Work with our marketing agency to develop and implement marketing campaigns 

• Support the Programmes Team to recruit new partner schools in priority regions 

• Proactively seek opportunities for growth of the First Give partners network 

• Develop and design and production of marketing and sales resources to support all sales activity 

• You may also be required to deliver sales meetings with networks including Headteacher meetings and attend conferences to promote the work of the charity 

Communications 

• Lead the development and manage the delivery of our communications strategy, including all messaging to key stakeholders via a range of appropriate channels, including newsletters, social media and our website 

• Be responsible for the First Give website, ensuring it is up to date, relevant and meets the needs of the organisation 

• Brand champion, ensuring that all external communications and resources are aligned with our brand identity and tone of voice 

• Management of retainer with external design agency

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change 

• Leadership experience, ideally in a charity of similar complexity and scale 

• Ability to triage between the strategic and operational with ease and confidence 

• Demonstrable success as a fundraiser, particularly bid-writing, reporting and funder stewardship 

• Experience of developing and implementing a communications strategy 

• Experience of creating a range of content for different audiences and channels including marketing materials, newsletters, blogs, social media content etc… 

• Experience developing and implementing successful sales and marketing strategies, preferably in the education sector 

• Experience of writing and managing budgets, delivering plans using resources available 

• Track record of stakeholder management at senior levels 

• Experience of working in or with teachers and schools 

• Excellent presentation skills, with an ability to deliver concise, engaging and persuasive presentations 

Desirable 

• Experience leading the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing activity and campaigns 

• Experience of remote line management 

• Experience of working in a remote, decentralised team 

• Experience of using Salesforce

About the Role 

The Country Trust Impact and Learning Lead is a flexible and fulfilling opportunity in our growing, energetic charity. You'll ensure evaluation and learning are embedded throughout the organisation, setting the standard for measuring and articulating our difference.  As a versatile senior leader, you'll shape our strategic direction by championing our Theory of Change and embedding impact across our activities from the start. 

Starting from a strong position with our existing evaluation framework, you'll nurture a culture of evidence-based improvement across programmes such as our Farm Discovery and Countryside Discovery Residential programmes, in all reaching over 70,000 children annually.

About You 

• You are a team player, skilled in designing evaluation and learning activities ensuring all voices are heard.
• Experienced in commissioning and/or managing external research or evaluation partners. 
• With strengths in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and storytelling, you'll create compelling reports that drive decision-making.
• You are an excellent communicator engaging diverse stakeholders, and an inspiring presenter and writer advocating our cause. 
• You are a curious, creative thinker piloting innovative ways to gather and visualise data. While no deep academic research knowledge is required, you'll have an appreciation of different methods, tools and approaches. 
• You can balance priorities and get hands-on. 
• You are skilled at designing and delivering training. 
• You understand the realities facing disadvantaged children and are committed to creating quality opportunities through our work 
• You have strong IT skills. 
• You have firsthand experience working with or within primary education. 
• You ideally have experience in the charity sector and a passion for food, farming and the countryside is desirable.
