Support Services Manager

Location: Hybrid from our office in Stroud, Gloucestershire

Salary: £33,000 to £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 35 hours per week

We are looking for a Support Services Manager to manage and develop our services and provide high quality support across the UK to people of all ages. You will lead the support services team providing day-to-day operational management and making sure that financial and physical resources are utilised effectively and responsibly. Support/Support Services

• Responsible for the development of a portfolio of high-quality support services for people of all ages across the UK who have experienced meningitis.
• Responsible for (and contribute towards) the delivery of support services, including events and out of hours peer support as and when required.
• Provide a ‘senior lead’ safeguarding role for Meningitis Now, ensuring that our safeguarding policy, which includes eSafety, is fully implemented.
• Embrace digital technology to develop a range of services to meet the varied and often complex needs of individuals.
• Oversee the appropriate use of evaluation and outcome measures to ensure that we can demonstrate the difference that we make and continually improve service delivery.
• Support the development of the reach of the organisation to enable more people to access support working with other members of the team and organisation.
• Oversee all marketing activities relating to support and working closely with the communications team.
• Assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures relevant to the team and the wider directorate.
• Ensure the integrity of data collected on Salesforce to enable accurate reporting and monitoring of activities against key performance indicators.
• Work closely with the partnerships team to secure funding for support services and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Look for opportunities for development of support (including extending our reach) by collaborating with individuals and partnership working.

Information and Support Management Team

• Assist in the development and delivery of strategy.
• Responsible for making sure that operational plans are developed and implemented effectively.
• Work closely with the Director of Information and Support, to oversee financial elements of support including budget setting, monitoring expenditure, and overseeing budget lines.
• Work closely with the Director of Information and Support and Helpline and Information Nurse Manager to put in place a reporting structure that allows the collection and dissemination of information and data.
• Deputise for the Director of Information and Support as required.

Line Management

• Responsible for the line management of staff within the support services team including recruitment and selection, planning out development, performance, training, and support.
• Deal sensitively and promptly with personnel issues when they arise in line with established procedures and reporting, and in keeping with the values of the Charity.
• Ensure policies, systems and processes are in place, utilised and regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with legislation such as data protection and safeguarding.
• Liaise and relay information between the senior management team, HR, and the organisation.
• Responsible for overseeing the external supervision of staff including yearly reporting.
• Manage and contribute to a programme of continual professional development for all staff across the directorate.

Children and Young Person’s Independent Sexual violence Advocate

Position: Children and Young Person’s Independent Sexual violence Advocate (ISVA)

Location: Birmingham/hybrid

Hours: Full and part-time opportunities available. 19 or 30 hours per week, with 1 home working day or 38 hours per week with 2 home working days.

Salary: Untrained ISVA: £29,777 pro rata, accredited ISVA: £31,365 pro rata

Contract: Permanent

The Role

You will provide support as an ISVA for children and young people (CYP). You will offer compassionate, confidential, support to CYP of all genders, who have been subjected to sexual violence and abuse. Some of the work will be providing specialised wrap around support to children and their families where the child has been, or is currently being sexually exploited (CSE support). You will provide information about reporting processes; support CYP who have reported to the police; provide emotional support to CYP when they give their evidence in court and provide information about other options, such as civil action and Criminal Injuries Compensation.

An approved and accredited ISVA qualification is preferable for this post, and will start at the accredited salary rate. However, candidates who demonstrate and live the organisations values (bold-believing-big hearted), and have a willingness to work towards ISVA accreditation will also be considered.

About You

Ideally, you will have previous or current experience within a specialist rape and sexual abuse organisation, supporting children and young people’s (CYP) victims/survivors of sexual violence and abuse.

You will also have experience of:

• Supporting 13-16 year olds, a group at high risk of sexual violence, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation and sexual coercion.
• The impacts of sexual violence and abuse
• Working pro-actively, and advocating for adult survivor voices and needs
• Working with a range of agencies
• Child safeguarding issues, child sexual exploitation (CSE), legislation and best practice
• Understanding of the need and ability to maintain professional notes and records of their interactions and interventions with clients

Open 365 days a year and operations from 9AM to 11PM, the Access Line provides support for those struggling with their mental health or experiencing a crisis.  The CPVO programme is aimed at extending an offer to older service veterans, inviting them to engage with our In Pensioners and enjoy the sense of community and comradeship that is at the heart of the Chelsea Pensioner community. While most of our programme activity is centred on the Royal Hospital Chelsea estate in London, the programme seeks to expand in reach to other UK regions where there is a sizeable veteran population who might benefit from engagement with our team of Chelsea Pensioners, staff and volunteers. There are also plans to develop a digital offer.

 The Veterans’ Outreach Officer will support  the Head of Veterans’ Outreach in developing and managing the programme of activities encouraging engagement and social interaction between Chelsea Pensioners and other service veterans thereby helping to alleviate the social isolation and loneliness felt by many older veterans. Responsibilities will include promoting the programme within veterans' networks and finding innovative ways to connect with veterans; the management of themed events both at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and further afield as we seek to expand nationwide. The role also involves significant data collection and analysis to inform the strategy, evaluate delivery, and identify fundraising opportunities.

Your role:

This a front-line role, delivering a family support service in person in Lambeth. The successful candidate will be based  in our offices in Lambeth.  Much of the work will involve outreach and delivery in Early Years settings, child development centres and nurseries throughout Lambeth. The role will involve working closely with the Lambeth Early Years Specialists Health Visitors and Paediatricians.  The role will involve planning and organising workshops and information sessions, drop-in sessions and ongoing family case work.  

You will provide an advice, information and guidance service to parents of very young children aged 0-2years,

You will assess families' needs and plan actions with parents' participation as per their needs. You will encourage parent carers' empowerment and involvement.

 What we are looking for:

• Experience of working with and supporting families who have disabled children, and in particular, working with families who have disabled children aged 0-2 years
• Good communication responsive to the needs of families of very young children who may be facing uncertainty and challenges at the beginning of understanding their child’s additional needs
• Good organisational and administrative skills
• Knowledge and experience of the issues and concerns that affect families who have disabled children e.g. leisure provision, education, respite care.
• Knowledge of issues relating to maximising income, tackling debt and budgeting, accessing financial support, tax credits and other financial issues.
• Good communication, time management and networking skills.

About the Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide debt advice and money education on a case management basis and to support the provision of advice by volunteers. The post holder will be expected to manage their own cases and lead appointment sessions.

The organisation’s mission is to ‘Restore Dignity and Renew Hope’ to those in our communities brought down by poverty and debt. The job holder will play their part in bringing this vision to reality, supporting clients through what at times can be emotionally difficult situations, to get back on their feet and realise their full potential.

The role combines both technical and pastoral elements. The role will involve building a client case, untangling sometimes complex situations, liaising with creditors, providing guidance for volunteers, and discerning and communicating the appropriate choices and strategies for the client. But you will also need to lead client appointments and support clients through what at times can be emotionally difficult situations.

About you:

We are looking for someone with prior debt advice experience who ideally has experience in leading and supervising volunteers.

Essential skills and experience of the Case Manager include:

• Previous experience in providing regulated debt advice on a case management basis
• Being a DRO intermediary would be an advantage
• Demonstrable experience in providing person-focused support to clients who may be vulnerable
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to show empathy, compassion and patience
• Sound IT skills with a strong command of the Microsoft Office suite

About the organisation:

The organisation was established in October 2009 and saw it’s first client in January 2010. Since then, they have provided advice and support to thousands of families and individuals in difficulty. Set up originally as part of the social action work of Holy Trinity Brompton church in London, the organisation has since expanded, opening up new branches in partnership with numerous churches and running appointments from locations throughout London and the South of England.

Every day the organisation see individuals and families who have been broken by their circumstances, be that illness, bereavement, loss of employment, mental health problems or family breakdown. Through circumstances that any of us would struggle to deal with, they have found themselves facing the prospect of being evicted from their home, struggling to keep the power on, or unable just to meet their basic day-to-day needs.

The vacancy

Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Team Manager - Young People on a Permanent basis for two new Supported Housing Schemes in Lewisham, due to open in June 2024.

You, as the Team Manager will support a team of housing support workers to support our young customers to remain in their home and take an active part in the community.

Both schemes are part of Peabody's well established Young Persons and Complex Needs service in London and will provide temporary housing for young people who are homeless aged between 16 to 17 years. 

What we’re looking for:

• Are you experienced in providing support as a senior support worker or as a team manager to people who have experienced trauma and have complex and challenging support needs?
• Do you have any previous experience in the housing support sector and a good knowledge of statutory and community services?
• Do you have some experience of managing and motivating a team to deliver a high-quality support service?
• Do you have experience of assessment and management of individual needs and risks?
• Are you able to communicate respectfully with and about people respecting the dignity and diversity of the people you are working with?
• Do you have any experience of working jointly with other agencies and liaising with statutory organisations?
• Do you have a genuine desire to help our young customers connect with their community, demonstrating kindness, empathy, a positive attitude, energy, and enthusiasm?
• Do you have good IT skills to include use of Microsoft office and can maintain electronic records, with attention to detail?

Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

About you

About the role

The Welfare Scheme Assessor will be a part of a small, but committed team with big ambitions that works cohesively and effectively together to get things done.

You’ll be an important and valued member of the team and, with the support of North Lincolnshire Citizens Advice, will be responsible for ensuring client focused outcomes are met in a pressurised environment.

You’ll be the first point of contact for residents applying for support from the welfare assistance scheme. You’ll offer applicants a holistic assessment designed to maximise household income, reduce expenditure and build greater financial wellbeing.

You’ll enable people to move as quickly as possible to problem resolution and to manage their essential needs so they are less likely to fall into debt and manage cost of living increases.

You’ll be responsible for making decisions on applications for financially based welfare support and will administer funds to households who would otherwise struggle to buy food or pay essential utility bills or meet other essential living costs.

You’ll enable people to take control of their financial wellbeing and signpost them to local statutory services and community groups that provide practical, social and emotional support.
