South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) provides dynamic, holistic support for people navigating the Criminal Justice System. We mentor individuals with criminal convictions to help them safely integrate back into their communities.

The Role

As our Community Connections Co-ordinator, you will inspire faith communities and churches across the South West to get involved. You will lead our volunteer network from start to finish, bringing creative ideas to attract, train, and support passionate people. Our volunteers are the absolute cornerstone of this life-changing work.

  • Location: Office base is in Exeter (Covering Devon, Cornwall, and Western Somerset)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage Communities: Network with churches and faith groups to promote volunteering.
  • Manage Volunteers: Oversee recruitment, induction, training, and retention.
  • Deliver Training: Upskill local congregations to work safely and effectively with people who have convictions, using SWCC resources.
  • Build Safe Spaces: Identify and cultivate welcoming community networks for our clients.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with our Chaplains and other staff to map out local volunteer opportunities.

 What we are looking for:

  • People Skills: You build positive, authentic relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Creative Mindset: You think outside the box to solve recruitment challenges.
  • Flexibility: You are available for occasional weekend work to support community events.

  • 12 - 17 days annual leave per annum + 4 – 5 bank holidays
