Job description

Rates of Pay: £13.45ph to £15.02ph (depending on experience and qualifications, including holiday allowance)

Hours: Varying, including daytime, twilight hours, evening, weekends, bank holidays, school holidays and occasional residential periods as required

Reports to: Youth Coordinator/Outreach Coordinator

Summary of Role

Working under the direction of our Centre Managers at Arc in the Park and Abbey Hub, Youth Workers are key to ensuring the successful delivery of our provision for young people. The role will include the delivery of specific youth work projects and programmes delivered in accordance with the policies and procedures of AAA, helping young people to develop personally, socially and educationally. The role will include providing support to vulnerable and at-risk service users.

Responsibilities

·Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of young people by assisting in the running, organisation and delivery of AAA youth projects, including building-based and detached street work projects

·Establishing positive relationships with all young people supporting and enabling them to increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities. 

·Coordinating resources and developing opportunities and activities for young people which reflects their particular needs and circumstances. 

·Facilitating the active involvement of the young people in the planning and development of the project programme. 

·Facilitating the positive integration of young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or special needs within the project. 

·Mentoring young people by supporting positive behaviours, delivering life-skills sessions and workshops.

·Assisting young people in identifying progression opportunities and providing on-going transition support for those moving into college, employment, apprenticeships or further learning.

·Monitoring and evaluating projects with young people and staff, providing reports as required to the Board of Trustees.

·Supporting young people to gain accreditation through their involvement in projects

·Supporting young people to raise money for activities through fundraising. 

·Adhering to AAA policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding young people. 

·Supporting and guiding volunteers, trainees and junior leaders in all of the above, as required. 

·Working as a member of the AAA team to ensure the safety and well-being of the young people, including day to day 'housekeeping' of the site and maintenance of equipment. 

·Liaising with parents, carers and other organisations and professionals as required.

·Carrying out health and safety inspections as required.
