Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Outreach & Engagement Worker will deliver 2-4 daytime outreach sessions per week in Manchester alongside partners, colleagues and volunteers. They will also attend the Street Engagement Hub weekly to provide specialist support to women attending this multi-agency hub. They will provide brief interventions and casework support to women supporting their needs holistically.

You will work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• To improve women’s health

Since 1991, MASH has been at the forefront of supporting women in and around Greater Manchester who are, have been or may start sex working and who are facing multiple disadvantage. We were founded as a social justice organisation, starting out as a grassroots, community led response to the HIV/AIDS crisis and we have continued to support women at the sharpest end of inequalities ever since.

Whilst the nature of sex work, the context in which we operate and the support we provide has changed dramatically over the last thirty years, one thing has remained constant: MASH continues to be a haven for some of the most marginalised women in Greater Manchester –  women who fall through the gaps, are under served by mainstream services and face stigma, discrimination and multiple barriers to accessing the support they need. At MASH, we meet each woman where they are at and stay with them for as long as it takes for them to get to where they want to be. Crucially, our support is gender and trauma informed and responsive and we bring decades of experience of appropriately supporting women in ways which work for them.

Your role:

This a front-line role, delivering a family support service in person in Lambeth. The successful candidate will be based  in our offices in Lambeth.  Much of the work will involve outreach and delivery in Early Years settings, child development centres and nurseries throughout Lambeth. The role will involve working closely with the Lambeth Early Years Specialists Health Visitors and Paediatricians.  The role will involve planning and organising workshops and information sessions, drop-in sessions and ongoing family case work.  

You will provide an advice, information and guidance service to parents of very young children aged 0-2years,

You will assess families' needs and plan actions with parents' participation as per their needs. You will encourage parent carers' empowerment and involvement.

 What we are looking for:

• Experience of working with and supporting families who have disabled children, and in particular, working with families who have disabled children aged 0-2 years
• Good communication responsive to the needs of families of very young children who may be facing uncertainty and challenges at the beginning of understanding their child’s additional needs
• Good organisational and administrative skills
• Knowledge and experience of the issues and concerns that affect families who have disabled children e.g. leisure provision, education, respite care.
• Knowledge of issues relating to maximising income, tackling debt and budgeting, accessing financial support, tax credits and other financial issues.
• Good communication, time management and networking skills.

Aside from the 50+ young people we see every day at our day centre, New Horizon’s Outreach service also works with young people on the streets and in the community. The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. We use our extensive housing expertise to place those young people into accommodation that is appropriate and safe whilst encouraging them to access the day centre to benefit from the wide range of services we offer. The Outreach Worker will work as part of Rough Sleeping Team to deliver at least two street outreach shifts per week and transitional casework to young people facing rough sleeping. You will need to be willing to work early mornings and late evenings, to travel across London to identify young people who need our support, and to work flexibly to respond to evolving needs. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Management Team:

• As part of the Management Team to oversee the function of the organisation and its strategic development, especially in relation to SRS’s advice service

Service Development

• Be responsible for developing the advice service according to organisational needs and strategy

 Team Management:

• To line manage and develop a team of Advice Workers and Reception/Admin Officer, to ensure they are suitably trained and supported to deliver a high-quality advice service across the county
• To line manage the Employment and Training Coordinator to ensure the employment and training team delivers an effective and cohesive service, which complements the work of the advice team

 Management of Advice Service and Direct Service Provision:

• To ensure that the advice service promotes equality of access to all asylum seekers and refugees (clients) seeking advice and that they feel welcome and effectively supported
• To manage the advice team across the following areas:

1. To assess clients’ needs and propose actions to address these needs (e.g. writing letters or emails and/or making telephone calls) in a professional manner
2. To ensure that clients have access to advice about all aspects of living in the UK and to ensure they understand their rights and responsibilities under UK law
3. To work to achieve agreed outcomes which will bring about positive changes in our clients’ lives
4. To promote independence on the part of the clients and actively empower them to help themselves according to their individual abilities
5. To direct clients to other services provided by Suffolk Refugee Support and / or external agencies (making appointments where appropriate)
6. To respond to telephone requests for information from clients, statutory, voluntary, and private sector organisations and the general public

The Advice Service Manager will:

• Guide the advice service team on complex casework, where needed
• Building on the advice team’s expertise, and with the support of the HR and Training Officer, ensure that their team is up to date on the latest legislation and procedures that impact the asylum seekers and refugees we work with
• Be responsible for decision making and for ensuring that direct funding and grants to clients are in line with policy

Newly arrived asylum seeker support

• To keep abreast of numbers of new arrivals of asylum seekers into Suffolk
• To facilitate clothing donations to those in most need, ensuring that stocks are maintained
• To ensure that clients in asylum accommodation across Suffolk can access our services
• To develop and oversee positive activities for asylum seekers, such as sports and music groups (in liaison with SRS's Operations Manager)

Immigration support lead

• To develop good relationships with immigration legal services and solicitors to ensure that clients can access the information they require and that clients understand the processes they are going through

 Vulnerable Client & Safeguarding Lead

• To be the support lead for very vulnerable clients or where there are cases with safeguarding concerns

Client representation

• To promote the views and experiences of SRS’s clients at external meetings and advisory boards, by participation in face to face and virtual meetings and in giving occasional presentations, using on-the-ground knowledge

Partnership working

• To develop and maintain good working relationships with external service providers and agencies, and to oversee joint working and services development

Monitoring, Evaluation and Donor Reporting

• To ensure services given and outcomes achieved are recorded on internal monitoring systems and that data protection regulations are adhered to
• To provide monthly summary reports for the Charity Manager and board of trustees
• To compile reports in reference to our funders’ outcomes and targets
• To help with the development & administration of written information produced by SRS for our clients’ benefit

About the team 

Shelter North East has been based in Newcastle for over 25 years and we provide advice across 12 local authorities We have an advice team, a legal team, support services which are made up of a Housing First project, along with a DIYSA service and hub administrators. We also have a number of national staff who support our work, such as a Community Fundraiser, Community Organiser and an Involvement Officer. Role purpose

We are looking for maternity cover for a full-time counsellor role on our Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) counselling service, Mind My Home. The service offers SFBT to adults (18+) with low to moderate mental health needs.

We are currently seeking dynamic Practitioners to join our Children & Young People’s service (CYPS), working directly with young people affected by domestic abuse.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years.

This role requires a good understanding of adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse and trauma, and the impacts of these on young people’s development, as well as a good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, and on the parent-child relationship. You will have experience of direct work with young people and their parents/carers, working flexibly but robustly and supportively, responding to challenging or harmful behaviour to facilitate change. You will have experience of providing structured one-to-one and/or group work counselling or behavioural change interventions, and of working with both children and adults from diverse backgrounds. You will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Children’s Services, Schools and Youth Offending Services.

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in developing DVIP’s young people’s services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic violence, in line with RESPECT practice standards. Day to day, you will be working flexibly across a number of locations, including providing outreach in schools and other relevant or referring services, managing referrals, assessing risk and suitability for therapeutic intervention, and engaging families.

In this rewarding role you will be working directly with young people and their parents/carers, delivering structured interventions to increase safety, as well as providing specialist support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training.

You will be able to work independently and flexibly, including some early evenings if needed, within any London Borough, where DVIP is contracted, for part of the working week. You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

This is a permanent full time role requiring the post-holder to work 37.5 hours a week.

Youth Mentor

Location

· The Junction Youth Centre High Wycombe and South Bucks

Working Hours

· The Junction Youth Centre is open 7 days per week. This role is 37 hours per 7 day week, to be worked in the following format;

Three days per week 1-9pm based at The Junction Youth Centre (weekdays or weekends)

Two days per week 9-5pm based in the community and schools (between Monday- Friday)

Position in the Organisation

· Reports To: Centre Manager

· Working With: The Action4Youth team and external agencies

The Youth Mentor will deliver one to one mentoring to a caseload of young people aged 11 to 18 years (up to 25 with SEND) who are identified as at risk. They will also deliver group sessions and general youth work at The Junction Youth Centre twice a week. The Junction Youth Centre is open 7 days a week 4-9pm; the mentor will support group sessions twice a week and spend the rest of their time delivering 1:1 interventions.

The mentor will work in partnership with the Action4Youth core team based at The Junction, as well as schools and other organisations such as social services, the Youth Offending Service and Buckinghamshire Council to identity and refer young people.

The mentor will work with a mixture of young people from different backgrounds, some of whom may have disabilities or additional needs. This intervention will work with young people who are experiencing low self-esteem and confidence, anxiety, low level mental ill health and challenging behaviour.

In order to build a rapport with the young person interactions will be face to face and the mentor will meet them for approximately 1 to 2 hours per week for a 6 to 12 week period.

The mentoring programme is free of charge for all young people.

Activities structure and the role:

· To be a positive role model at all times

• To liaise with schools and other key organisations to promote the mentoring service and receive referrals.
• Work with the staff team at The Junction to deliver group work sessions and assist with general youth work on two days per week
• Build a rapport with young people and manage a caseload.
• Conduct weekly mentoring sessions with young people and to provide advice, guidance and information to young people to allow them to make informed decisions
• Work with young people to direct, and then support them, into more positive activities in their local community
• Create action plans with young people to identify their next steps
• Keep records of interactions and use the Outcomes Star framework to track progress of young people
• Maintain a quality service at all times
• Provide reports and case studies for funders as required

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

Previous work experience in the youth, education or community sector

Experience of planning, monitoring and evaluating work with young people (Desirable)

Excellent communication skills, including being able to positively engage with young people from a wide range of backgrounds and actively involve them in the decision making process.

Confident user of IT, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (Desirable)

Experience of sourcing and building relationships with key partners and stakeholders

Experience of using the Outcomes Star framework (Desirable)

Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour (Desirable)

Qualifications

A qualification and/or experience in Youth Work/ mentoring

Salary: DP4 pay scale £24,700 - £26,870

Hours: 21 Hours - 35 hours per week for various posts.

Contract: Start date is June 1st 2024, and end date is May 31st 2027 with potential for an additional two year extension.
