Purpose of the role
To deliver the Day One Casework bedside model to patients, or those closest to them, impacted by serious or multiple injuries which could result in life changing consequences, such as disability or death, within James Cook University Hospital, providing support on some of the wards (such as rehabilitation), on-site clinics and other settings (e.g. rehabilitation centres).
Have a visible physical presence within the Trust, becoming embedded into clinical teams focussing on major trauma pathways, facilitating outpatient and in-person legal clinics.
Key Responsibilites
The post holder’s primary duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Work closely, and in partnership, with NHS clinical staff and relevant community and voluntary sector organisations, to address the needs of patients, and those closest to them, affected by serious and life-changing injury.

Operate a case management approach to individuals, assessing and identifying needs, putting support in place including signposting, making referrals and direct support.

Provide consistency in assessment of all patients and their loved ones, irrespective of injury cause, age, status, giving access to the earliest possible specialist legal advice which supports rehabilitation and NHS cost recovery.

Maintain detailed case records, including accurate records of activity and intervention, using Day One’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, capturing and storing data in line with Day One policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

Contributing towards report writing through the writing case studies and narrative to support data collection.

Implement processes and procedures to collect patient and family feedback and contribute to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of Day One services through providing relevant information, case studies and reports.

Deliver awareness raising presentations to clinical colleagues and departments.

Organise and facilitate outpatient and in person legal clinic drop-in sessions.

Build awareness of the role and charity’s purpose through building strong and effective relationships across the regional major trauma network, ensuring those who need it have access to Day One support.

Work closely with local authority, statutory and voluntary organisations to provide patient and family support and advocacy.

Help establish other support mechanisms once a person is no longer within the hospital setting, supporting the patient discharge process in conjunction with leadership from NHS staff.

Identify and support the recruitment and supervision of Day One volunteers, where appropriate.

Work closely in partnership with our Peer Support Service, focussed on promoting awareness and uptake within the region.

Work closely with the wider team on performance, quality, safety and effectiveness of all services, ensuring appropriate safeguarding policies are followed.

Work closely with our Fundraising and Communications team, supporting national activity, as well as regional initiatives to raise awareness and fundraise.

Be prepared to travel across the region and, on occasion, to other sites and national meetings as required.

Willingness to undertake continuous development and training for the role, including mandatory Day One and NHS Trust specific training.

Participate in external clinical supervision and monthly caseworker reflective practice to sessions to effectively explore and uphold professional boundaries within a safe, structure and supportive environment.
To work closely with those impacted by serious and life-changing injury, taking referrals and carrying out initial assessments of need, expertly navigating, signposting and putting services in place in the immediate aftermath of major trauma, including talking about and facilitating timely access to legal support to aid rehabilitation.
To establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders to promote Day One and address the needs of those affected by serious and life-changing injury.
To work as part of the wider Day One Service’s team and organisation, taking responsibility for own record keeping and data collection in line with regulatory requirements.

We are growing our Partnerships team within SU Network, and are looking to bring on board a Partnerships Manager to help us expand our media sales and partnerships offering. This would be ideal for a candidate with some media sales/ advertising sales/account management experience looking to step up, or a candidate who has worked in customer service, sales, or events, who wants to get into the world of advertising / media partnerships, working with major brands and the student market.
Within this position, you will support /manage the partnerships with key brands (including the likes of Domino’s Pizza!), businesses and media partners across SU Network’s portfolio of students’ unions and universities. This includes: overseeing experiential advertising campaigns and brand activations for clients across multiple university campuses; managing and facilitating digital advertising campaigns, including on websites, social media and digital screens; managing and coordinating stallholders and exhibitor bookings at promotional events; initiating, developing and managing partnerships across multiple accounts, working towards income targets at each.
SU Network is a media agency and is part of the wide range of sector leading services within KUTL, which includes catering, licensed trade, business development, retail and the nursery. With an annual combined turnover of £9 million, these make a huge impact upon the student experience.

About the role
This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in two of our schools in Hornsey and East Finchley, London. If there is a possibility to extend contract beyond the fixed term, this may include a move to a different school/programme.
The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors and coaches, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of our programmes is optimised.

Role responsibilities
- Work directly with students, mentoring in a professional and safe manner.
- Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes.
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications.
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided).

Job Summary
The Students Rights Adviser is an expert on the Durham University regulations that apply to students and provides a casework service of impartial advice to individuals and small groups of students to ensure that their rights are known and respected by the institution. The Student Voice team works closely with the Student Rights Adviser, ensuring that issues which have the potential to affect larger groups of students are anticipated understand and tackled, through student leaders providing support and guidance to volunteers and student communities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Student Rights Adviser is responsible for students engaging with Durham University regulations having their rights known and respected, and will:
A. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of Durham University regulations that apply to students and contribute to the student interest to their development.

Purpose
Our Immigration Team works closely with Birmingham City University (BCU) to run the Immigration Law Student Clinic, a key source of free accredited immigration advice for people in Birmingham who cannot afford legal support.
The role involves supervising students as they research and prepare legal advice, coordinating day‑to‑day clinic activity, and supporting casework within CELC’s immigration team. You will recruit, train, and mentor students, ensuring they have an excellent student experience and helping them develop practical legal skills while ensuring clients receive an excellent service.
Responsibilities
Working closely with Birmingham City University the Law Clinic Supervisor will:
- Recruit and select students for involvement in the clinic
- Undertaking inductions with new students, in line with the Law Centre's Clinic practices ,including training on CELC systems and processes
- Develop and maintain student training manuals, policies, template letters, referral forms etc.
- Assess client cases prior to allocation to students
- Manage overall clinic calendar, allocating client cases to students
- Supervise all elements of student work, providing guidance to ensure accuracy and quality of research undertaken and advice provided
- Maintain accurate records of student inductions and supervisions
- Sign-off and submittance of applications
- Advise students to access other CELC teams for legal guidance where necessary e.g. family law, employment, housing etc.
- Create a positive and nurturing environment for students to learn practical casework skills

- Work positively with the Law Centre’s Clinic Lead and the other clinic leads in delivering the overall partnership and wider clinical legal education

About the role
Are you a systems or data professional who can combine business analysis and project management skills with excellent communication skills. We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail and strong experience of working with large customer or membership databases.
You will be a part of the Advancement Operations Data and Insight Team. The team works collaboratively to provide system management, business analysis, project management, reporting and management information for the University’s fundraising, alumni engagement and broader advancement activities.
What you would be doing
You will be responsible for improving existing processes, monitoring and analysing system use and developing new data solutions so that the University’s business practices are enhanced, building strong collaborative relationships across the University to achieve this. You will also contribute the design and delivery of training programmes, producing accessible documentation and monitoring database use across the University to ensure it is consistent and accurate.
What we are looking for:
- Extensive experience of using all aspects of BBCRM or a similar fundraising CRM
- An understanding of the theory of large, complex relational databases, and experience of designing and implementing new data structures and system processes
- High level competence with MS Excel
- Experience of developing and delivering training programs, and designing systems for ongoing guidance and training, ideally related to databases
- Experience of gathering, interpreting and documenting business requirements

Our outgoing CEO originally came to the UK as a Saïd Foundation Scholar to study at Oxford University and has worked for the Foundation for over six years. He is leaving to return to Syria. We are looking for an experienced manager to carry on his work in leading our team, maintaining close relationships with our Trustees, partners and students and ensuring that the Foundation’s programmes are run to the highest standards.
ABOUT THE SAÏD FOUNDATION
The Saïd Foundation was established as a non-sectarian and non-political charity in 1982 by Wafic and Rosemary Saïd to bring positive and lasting change to the lives of children, young people and the wider community with a focus on the Levant region of the Middle East and on the UK, and on education as a powerful tool to make change. It is governed by a Board of Trustees and the Board’s Student, Projects, Audit and Investments Committees. Khaled Saïd has just become Chair of the Board.
Since 1984, our longest-standing programme, the Scholarships Programme, has offered opportunities to outstanding individuals with leadership potential to be drivers of positive change within our target countries of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine. It brings these change agents to the UK to study for Master’s degrees at exceptional universities and maintains close contact with them during their studies and beyond. Our amazing community of over 700 alumni have gone on to become outstanding leaders in many fields and to build bridges and respect across cultures.
The Foundation’s founder, Wafic Saïd, is also the founder of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School, now one of the world’s leading business schools. The Saïd Business School Foundation (SBSF), also an English charity, was established in 1998 to support the development of the School in its pursuit of excellence. Its Strategic Development Fund provides grants in support of initiatives that will have strategic value to the development of the School. SBSF is funded and administered by the Saïd Foundation.
The Foundation’s humanitarian work has responded to the shifting needs of the region over immensely challenging times. Since 2011, it has focused on supporting Syrian refugee communities in Lebanon and Jordan through grants to major international non-governmental organisations. Most recently, it has provided support for Gazan children orphaned by the destruction of their homeland. Before the conflict in Syria began, the Foundation ran a capacity-building programme across the country for those working to support Syria’s disabled children. It helped to set up a sister organisation in Syria, the Saïd Foundation for Development, which will take forward future work in Syria and is now considering how to support the needs of a post-Assad Syria.
In recent years, the Foundation has also worked to promote better health outcomes for people everywhere by making grants to innovative and impactful projects at world-leading medical research institutions based in the UK and known to the Saïd family.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job purpose:
To lead a small, motivated team in the best-practice implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Foundation’s programmes and grants and to build strong relationships with the Foundation’s Trustees, partners and scholars.
Responsibilities:
1. Programme and grant management
a) To oversee the management of the scholarships programme, ensuring the selection of outstanding students from the Levant region and the Foundation’s duty of care to them while they are in the UK.
b) To oversee the Foundation’s grant-making programmes, ensuring that grants agreed by the Trustees are informed by rigorous due diligence and are monitored effectively.
c) To provide guidance as necessary to the Board and staff of the Saïd Foundation for Development in Syria on governance and project management matters.
d) To oversee the evaluation of the scholarships programme periodically, and grant-funded projects as necessary, to ensure they achieve their intended objectives and apply learning to their improvement.
2. Organisation and staff management
a) To devise and implement annual plans for implementation of the Foundation’s work, define the level and timing of human and other resources required to deliver the plans and develop key performance indicators to report progress against plans to the Board.
b) To foster a supportive work culture, managing staff in line with best human resource practice and ensuring high levels of motivation and strong performance.
c) To recruit staff, when necessary.
d) To oversee the effective operation of all office systems, including IT and the scholarships platform and database, and introduce improvements (for example, in the use of AI).
e) To ensure that health and safety aspects are taken into account appropriately when the Foundation’s staff, students and Trustees are travelling in connection with the Foundation’s activities.
3. Governance and Trustees
a) To meet regularly with the Chairman to ensure he is fully informed of developments and to support planning for Board and Committee deliberations.
b) To engage Trustees actively, drawing on their expertise to enhance the work of the Foundation, and report to them regularly on the Foundation’s work.
c) With the help of other staff, to make recommendations to the Foundation’s Committees on their focus areas and ensure high quality papers for Board and Committee meetings and timely follow up of action points.
d) To remain up to date with developments in charity governance and regulation to ensure that the Foundation follows best practice and is compliant with regulations.
e) To identify key risks to the Foundation’s funding, operation and reputation, ensuring that controls are in place for their mitigation and their inclusion in the risk register.
4. Financial, accounting and investment matters (with the Financial Controller)
a) To ensure that accurate annual budgets for the Foundation’s programmes, staff, administration and property management costs are approved by the Trustees and that cash flow projections support decision-making on the timely funding of the Foundation.
b) To ensure that monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts provide all necessary information for accountability and management purposes.
c) To oversee rigorous internal controls for the Foundation’s payments and receipts.
d) To support the Investment Committee in ensuring the effective management and secure custody of the Foundation’s financial and property assets and monitoring of the performance of these investments.
5. Saïd Business School Foundation (SBSF)
a) To ensure that all Strategic Development Fund (and other) grants meet the objectives agreed with the School and monitor the impact of the grants through the School’s reporting.
b) To oversee high-quality reporting to SBSF’s Board of Directors and its Committees including on the overall development and performance of the School.
c) To monitor the continuing fulfilment of undertakings made to SBSF by Oxford University so that any departure from these undertakings can be assessed by the Board.
d) To ensure that all SBSF’s accounting and other regulatory requirements are met.
6. Representing the Foundation
a) To represent the Foundation externally at events and meetings and ensure that its own events provide a warm, welcoming and inspiring experience for invitees.
b) To build enduring relationships of trust with existing and new partners.
c) To ensure that the Foundation’s engagement with its students and alumni creates a strong sense of belonging to the Saïd Foundation “family”.
