You will join the lively and passionate MarComms team, which is firmly integrated within our Fundraising Department, as the first point of contact for all website-related activity, advising teams and supporting campaign planning wherever website integration is required.
You will have experience in a similar role and hold in-depth knowledge and experience of current digital trends, tactics and strategy to be able to advise on digital approaches. akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). Job Summary
In this role you will:

Lead a team of housing Caseworkers in providing advocacy and support to homeless LGBTQ+ young people or young people living in a hostile environment.

Manage and provide supervision for staff, students and volunteers who provide case work and advocacy to homeless LGBTQ+ young people.

About the role
The Media Manager will be responsible for taking charge of the ITF’s global media strategy. We are looking for an experienced media relations professional who can further enhance and solidify ITF’s reputation as the global voice of transport workers and as an authoritative voice in the transport industry and global trade union movement.
We’re seeking an experienced media relations manager, preferably with international experience and with established media relationships amongst leading international media.
You will be part of team responsible for delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role transport workers play, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights and equalities of the world’s transport workers.
Your role will be pivotal for securing media coverage that raises awareness of the work and priorities of the ITF internationally across broadcast, print, online media, and trade press.
This hands-on role, will lead on developing, implementing and advancing ITF’s global media relations strategy. The Media Manager will also provide strategic advice and coaching to ITF’s leadership on proactive and reactive media strategies, as well as strategic guidance and support for other members of the ITF’s multi-disciplinary communications team.

In the past five years of running our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, we have found that the best predictor of which incubated charities will end up causing the highest impact is the quality of the co-founding team. As we scale up, one of our biggest bottlenecks is identifying highly talented, value-aligned people out of the thousands of candidates from all over the world who apply to our programs. The difference in outcomes between a bad and a good hire can be huge, but this variation is even more extreme when it comes to co-founders. The initial staff of an organization set the pace, tone, and culture for the long-term. We estimate the impact of each average alumna/alumnus of our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program to be equivalent to donating $200,000-350,000 USD / year to effective charities. Finding 20-30 of these gems each year is difficult but is incredibly impactful. As such, the Recruitment role is one of the most important roles we are hiring for.
The Recruitment Manager (or Director’s) role is flexible, as reflected in this job description. It is likely to be either 100% on vetting applicants to our programs, 50% on vetting and 50% on outreach and marketing for new applicants, or 50% on vetting and 50% on team management. The level of seniority will depend on the successful candidate’s skills, fit, and interests. The Director would be responsible for managing team members and setting strategy for the department. The manager-level role would be focused more on the implementation and systems improvement of our recruitment process.

Summary of role
The Policy Manager is a key role in supporting the development and implementation of WeProtect Global Alliance’s strategy and vision for a digital world designed to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse.
We require a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong track record of carrying out policy research and analysis, who can build relationships with external stakeholders, provide technical support to governments, and is able to work in dynamic, global policy environments.
You will be responsible for monitoring policy and political developments, promoting evidence-based policies, and building and maintaining relationships with government, civil society and private sectors to foster change. You will have a sound understanding of how policy decisions are influenced and made. You will also lead on the development of policy outputs including briefings, papers and reports, working with colleagues to build evidence and articulate the Alliance’s work across our membership and with other stakeholders.

About WeProtect Global Alliance
The internet was not created with children in mind and can be unsafe for children to explore. Every phone and computer is a potential gateway for offenders seeking to sexually exploit children. Our Alliance generates political commitment and practical approaches to make the digital world safe and positive for children, preventing sexual abuse and long-term harm.
Our Alliance’s geographical reach is unprecedented: 102 countries are members along with 70 private sector companies and 94 civil society and 10 intergovernmental organisations. This diverse membership is key to our ability to deliver real change. Together, we break down complex problems and develop policies and solutions to protect children from sexual abuse online. WeProtect Global Alliance is supported by a high-performing secretariat of staff based in the UK and Belgium, and is overseen by an influential Global Policy Board.
Policy Manager role and responsibilities
Overall purpose of role
WeProtect Global Alliance supports our members to achieve more together than they could alone, through pooling and sharing knowledge and data, solving problems and making a powerful case for change.
The Policy Manager role is pivotal to making a compelling case for action and bringing together experts to generate political commitment, develop policies and practical solutions to make the digital world safe and positive for children, preventing sexual exploitation and abuse and long-term harm. The role will support the vital work of our Global Taskforce, comprised of government members from across the globe. It will require close collaboration with the Communications and Engagement team and other members of the Alliance Secretariat.
Legislative, regulatory and policy work
- Lead on a range of policy projects on key emerging threats and responses to child sexual exploitation and abuse online.
- Analyse national legislation, policies, multilateral initiatives and regulatory approaches to identify trends, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration and policy learning.
- Prepare policy reports, briefs, and proposals, tailored to various audiences, including policymakers, stakeholders, and members, working alongside the Communications and Engagement team.
- Monitor the implementation and impact of policies, regulations, and legislative proposals regarding child sexual exploitation and abuse, including potential challenges in implementing and enforcing regulatory measures.
- Develop and evaluate policy options and recommendations based on evidence, best practice, and stakeholder input, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and member priorities.
- Support the drafting of responses to consultations, policy briefings, and other public policy initiatives, including relevant third-party publications.
- Promote, support and embed the use of the Alliance’s Model National Response with Government members including supporting the use of national legal and policy frameworks in accordance with the UNCRC and other regional and international and regional standards.
- Develop and maintain a good understanding of key legislative, policy and political developments in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse online.
Global Taskforce
Support the focus and outcomes delivered by the Alliance’s Global Taskforce:
- Encourage and facilitate effective sharing of information among Taskforce member countries.
- Actively highlight valuable and impact resources available to governments.
- Support Taskforce member countries in identifying opportunities, actions and strategic steps within their national frameworks to enhance the protection of children.
- Organise bi-annual reporting and coordinating special events to foster leadership development for government officials involved in the Taskforce’s work.
- Maintain an up-to-date list of key contacts in Taskforce member countries.
Wider stakeholder engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, partners, and collaborators relevant to our work across the Alliance membership.
- Lead on development of or contribute to written outputs, such as reports, topic-specific briefing papers, website copy, presentations and blog posts to communicate the findings of our work to relevant audiences.
- Present analysis, evidence and findings about complex and sometimes contentious subjects to a wide range of audiences, ensuring an understanding of the subject and issues arising and enabling informed decision making.
- Represent the Alliance at key meetings as required, including presenting at and supporting the delivery of presentations at international events.
- Collaborate with WeProtect colleagues to integrate policy considerations into organisational initiatives and programmes ensuring coherence and effectiveness.

Essential skills, experience and knowledge

You will be educated to degree level or above in health sciences, life sciences or with equivalent relevant experience. With experience of developing, monitoring, reporting and delivering multiple projects simultaneously, you will also be able to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and accessible way and be able to plan, budget and monitor grant award expenditure and be comfortable taking decisions and responsibility.

We are looking for a Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager who will play a pivotal role taking this work to the next level. With an existing portfolio as a platform, you will be eager to review this and create a strategy for growth, looking at how we can package existing and new projects to potential trusts whilst using your research skills to identify and secure complimentary funders.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for a skilled trusts and foundations fundraiser, with expertise of securing 6-figure, multi-year funding from grant funders, charitable foundations, lottery or statutory sources. They should have first class research and prospecting skills that are combined with awareness of innovations and upcoming trends in the area of income generation. Someone who can thrive on collaborative working and combine this strategic thinking, plus being able to work with a diverse range of staff and volunteers to ensure relevant information is captured in proposal creation as well as ensuring outputs are correctly monitored for reporting to donors would be a perfect fit.
Working Hours: Full time 35 hours per week (Part time, minimum 3 days a week considered)

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern
This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

The Policy Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing our policy agenda to ensure people affected by dementia benefit from progress in research. By leveraging expertise in policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, the Policy Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives that influence government decisions, public health priorities and research funding.
The post-holder will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, clinicians, and people with lived experience of dementia to help make the case for increased investment in dementia research, advocate for more accessible routes to diagnosing and treating dementia and prepare health systems to be ready for future dementia treatments.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Policy development
· Develop and manage programmes of work on key strategic policy areas that position ARUK as a key influencer both nationally and internationally. This may include the commissioning of external evidence generation.
· Provide expertise on the relevant evidence, insight, and policy context to enable the development of new innovative policy ideas and solutions that deliver on our strategic priorities.
· Manage the development of substantial and credible policy outputs, including briefings, reports, submissions to government departments and their agencies, parliamentary committees, and other UK and international organisations as appropriate.
· Work with the communications team to ensure our policy work is disseminated to our key audiences via a range of appropriate channels to maximise our reach and impact.
· Develop and maintain mechanisms to keep abreast of the policy environment.
· Analyse, interpret and make judgements on complex project activities, delegating and managing the policy advisors to achieve set deliverables through their management of day-to-day activities. As Policy and Public Affairs works in a matrix structure this may include managing deliverables with policy advisors across the team.
· Support the join-up between projects and across the wider team to ensure shared knowledge and the opportunity to maximise influence and impact.
Stakeholder engagement and management
· Develop and manage stakeholder engagement of key policy contacts.
· Actively promote patient and public involvement in the development and delivery of projects.
· Work with Public Affairs colleagues to strengthen existing and emerging relationships with political and other parliamentary stakeholders to maximise the impact of our policy work.
· Attend external working groups and help develop partnerships beneficial to ARUK.
· Work with other charities to ensure ARUK is playing a leadership role in shaping government medical research policy.
Research and data analysis
· Oversee the analysis of necessary data and understanding, working with other ARUK colleagues, to produce accurate, timely and insightful policy materials, briefings and media stories.
Line Management Responsibilities
· Line manage and develop a Policy Advisor, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management as appropriate.
· Work with Senior Policy Manager and other Managers to support our team mission, wider team development and our commitment to excellence.
