Your role

The People and Culture Manager post sits is in a People and Learning group which brings together all the people specialisms from across the organisation – UK HR, people in mission support, vocational recruitment, mission learning and organisational development - to ensure maximum coordination and to strengthen a culture of diversity, inclusion, empowerment, learning and collaboration across all our people.

Our client has an exciting opportunity to join their Human resources team as a Human resources advisor. As an Human resources advisor you will provide comprehensive human resources support to all their operational services,  assist with the implementation of human resources policies and supporting the human resources team and managers in delivering the overall human resources operations and strategy.

Main Responsibilities 

• Serve as a first point of contact for managers and staff on human resources-related questions and queries 

• Providing advice and guidance on human resources policies, procedures, and employment legislation

• Maintain and support in ensuring accurate and up-to-date staff records and data, including staff amendments and production of the necessary documentation, ensuring contractual requirements are met 

• Management and maintenance of the human resources system, including: 

  • input and analysis of data 

  • production and analysis of human resources metric reports and performance indicator information 

  • general queries from managers and staff relating to self-service 

  • systems improvements such, as enhancing and inputting workflows 

• Manage and update the monthly pay exceptions, ensuring correct and timely data to meet payroll deadlines

• CIPD qualification, or equivalent qualification through experience

Main duties

1. Work with our managers and leaders to deliver their people priorities. Aligning with the core TAWS values
2. Support and coach Managers with ER matters, but ultimately work with managers to design systems and processes that encourage managers to take ownership of managing their teams
3. Support managers and all employees to take ownership of their own performance, careers and learning using and enhancing TAWS systems.

8. Work with the Finance team with regard to payroll delivery (extent depending on experience).

10. Work with people managers to support them to identify, build relationships with and attract future talent

Knowledge, skills and experience

Good general operational HR experience – CIPD level 5 (or equivalent experience). Experience in 3rd sector and/or a SME organisation would enable you to understand quickly the challenges and the opportunities. But what is more important is that you have the confidence to take responsibility and the agility to change in direction.

The purpose of the role

The People & EDI Manager will be a key member of the Global Operations Team, responsible for effective and efficient Global HR delivery at both a strategic and an operational level across the organisation.  This position plays a critical role in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.  The role will help foster a culture of inclusiveness and belonging and provide ED&I guidance and support to Directors and teams, resourcing talent management professionals and updating the Head of Global Operations on current issues and standards.

Key responsibilities

About you 

• CIPD Qualified with experience in a senior HR role

• Experience of working for an INGO or similar global non-profit entity
• Solid understanding of employment legislation
• Experience working effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience of delivering on HR change and transformation projects would be beneficial

In this role you will own generalist human resource activities, using a comprehensive understanding of the HR processes. The Generalist human resources team is currently a team of 4, the Head of P&C, P&C Business Partner, P&C Advisor, and P&C Administrator. You will report into the Head of P&C. The wider People and Culture/HR team includes the Talent Acquisition Team, Workforce Development, and Talent Development team. As a team we all have our strengths, have individual qualities and interests, we all come together as a team when times can be busy or stressful and work well in supporting each other. We value each others input and no voice goes unheard! We have our collaboration day in the office on a Monday, and Friday's we have P&C time where we wind down at the end of the week with a different activity and team session!

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 - 5. Mondays in central office, one or more days in our services, with work from home on the remaining days in the week.

Line Management

Employee Relations

• Ensure all staff have access to meaningful and accessible employment advice, information, documents, and other resources.

• Manage and provide high quality advice on low and mid-level employee relations casework.

Employee Lifecycle

• Ensure lifecycle administration, advice, and support is completed to a high standard.
• Contribute to the processing of employee lifecycle changes. This includes payroll, new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
• Provide advice and guidance on policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
• Monitor, review and report on key people metrics to inform and enhance the delivery of the P&C team and activities.

• Other areas of support will vary. Including Sickness, Occupational health referrals, Annual leave, Maternity/Paternity leave, Compassionate leave, Performance Management, and General Employee Relations.

Performance Management and Development

• Support Managers across the organisation with Performance management and people development initiatives.
• Support with the personal and professional development of our people, collating feedback, introducing new initiatives and ideas.

Other Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the wider P&C team to develop and amplify employee voice through the organisation, and support with various other activities and projects within the team.
• Support management of data and workflows within the HR Information System (HRIS).
• Take ownership of the HRIS to some degree, identify changes to be made, ensure the system management is running smoothly.
• Support with the progression and communication of policies and procedures.
• Build and manage strong relations throughout the organisation and externally.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in a similar role and/or taking on similar level responsibilities
• Experience in coaching and advising managers and colleagues in areas such as employee relations activities across the full lifecycle, performance management, absence management, and other alike areas
• Working knowledge and understanding of HR procedures and basic employment law practices, and how it applies under UK employment legislation
• Line Management experience, or demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to attend regular visits to our different service locations

What we would like, but not essential:

• CIPD Qualification Level 5
• Experience using data to make informed decisions and reports effectively
