About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser you will use your core knowledge and skill to reflect on strategy, relationship building and leading our charitable profile and income streams.

You will develop and influence strategy formation with supporters and other stakeholders to identify and actively seek out and engage trusts, foundations, and other funders by writing compelling and comprehensive funding bids, presentations, and applications.

You will work collaboratively with Senior Management Team to enhance stewardship to enable creative, effective, and appropriate activities to promote the development of sustainable engagement with supporters.

About you:

You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of trusts and grants fundraising in a complex organisation as well as experience of prospecting, writing, and managing the application process. Ability to develop relationships with a broad range of stakeholders is vital.

In this role you will need excellent communication and IT skills together with demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work proactively. Understanding of the health/housing sector would be advantageous.

The Hepatitis C Trust develops projects nationally where peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training, increase hepatitis C awareness, and access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C.

Role Requirements

The post holder will line manage the charity’s Shop Managers, supporting them to achieve agreed income targets. Working with colleagues, this role will also be responsible for proposing and then implementing new business initiatives, such as pop-up opportunities, niche offers and promoting online sales within the team as well as monitoring expenditure in line with budget expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within Preston Minster and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation
• Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events.
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church.
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training rooms are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies and safeguarding issues are reported in a timely manner.

As the Trust and Grants Manager, you will be responsible for generating income from trusts and grants. Based within the Development Team you will look to identify funding opportunities to secure funds to ensure the Hospice successfully achieves its objectives and development plan. With experience of writing bid writing, trust applications and reporting you will have excellent attention to detail and effectively manage deadlines. We are looking for an excellent team player and communicator who is ambitious and solution focussed and has the energy and passion to drive forward our aspirations and operational goals.

This role will provide strategic oversight and direction for Lepra’s institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets. Line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target, and working with the programmes teams in the UK, India and Bangladesh to identify and develop applications to statutory sources and major trusts, leading on the development of detailed project proposals.

The salary for this position is £28,723 (FTE £35,904) – Manager Level, part time (28 hours – 4 days per week). Context of Job

AFK (Action For Kids) is a national charity helping young people with disabilities to develop their independence and find employment. Our vision is a world where all people living with a disability get to lead the life they choose.  As part of this we provide bespoke employment skills and organise work experience placements across North London.  At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 26.

Job Purpose

To support young people aged 18+ who have disabilities and/or are neurodiverse to gain employment. The role will be to primarily liaise with businesses and employers to broker new opportunities for supported and unsupported employment.  You will also work with a small caseload of young people, assessing their employability skills. You will work closely with the Employment & Skills team to place young people from the Employment Coaches caseloads into employment, as well as locate some voluntary roles and work placements. You will deliver one to one job coaching to enable young people to progress towards their own goals and objectives.

Working Conditions

The post is 35 hours a week, normally between 9.30am – 5.30pm. The post holder may be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job. There is a TOIL policy. This role is peripatetic within London.

Principle Responsibilities

1. Engage with businesses and employers to source and secure employment opportunities for the young people AFK work with.
2. Encourage businesses and employers to offer volunteering, work tasters and work placements that may also lead to paid opportunities for young people.
3. Develop and maintain knowledge of the local labour market & opportunities relating to employment, work tasters, work placements and volunteering.
4. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local employer groups, statutory, voluntary and private organisations to support the development of suitable opportunities.
5. Participate in employer visits with young people to engage them in the different workplace roles to further aid their choices in employment.
6. Provide training / advice to employers as required.
7. Provide employment support for the Employment & Skills team and produce monthly updates in line with AFKs key performance indicators (KPIs).
8. Work with 1 or 2 young people to identify and support their aspirations for future employment.
9. Identify any financial implications for individuals relating to full and part-time employment in connection with disability benefits.
10. Work closely with the Senior Employment Coach to match opportunities for young people from the caseloads of Employment Coaches.
11. Participate in regular 1-1 supervision with the Employment & Skills manager.
12. Support young people in the workplace if required.
13. Refer young people for specialist advice and support where appropriate.
14. Monitor the progress of individuals and keep appropriate records.
15. Provide timely reports and keep AFK recording systems up to date.
16. Undertake necessary administrative duties relating to the role.

Philanthropy Manager - Trusts and Foundations

Location: Francis Crick Institute, London (low flex - we would expect you to be in the office 3 to 4 days per week)

Salary: £43,000-48,000 pa depending on experience + benefits

Reports to: Trusts and Foundations Lead

Contract Type / Hours: Permanent / Full time 35 hours per week (Other flexible-working requests can also be considered if they meet business needs)

What will I be doing?

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as Philanthropy Manager within our Trusts and Foundations team. You'll have responsibility for identifying and approaching trusts and foundations and seek their support of Cancer Research UK's (CRUK) campaign priorities, and in particular, the Francis Crick Institute. This high value fundraising role will focus on securing 5-7-figure gifts.

This is an exciting time to join the CRUK philanthropy team, as we prepare to launch an ambitious multi-million-pound fundraising campaign in 2024.

Make an impact every day by…

• Managing a prospect pool of trusts and foundations with the aim to secure gifts of £100K+ as well as building a base of committed donors at lower level.

• Managing a programme of cultivation and stewardship for all trusts and foundations and ensure consistent pipeline movement for prospects within the role's portfolio.

• Developing and implementing a trusts and foundations strategy for the Francis Crick Institute, maximising the broad range of fundraising opportunities the Crick offers

• Driving and developing funding proposals and stewardship reports to an excellent standard in collaboration with science engagement colleagues

• Maximising gift opportunities to deliver against agreed targets and objectives. Providing regular reporting and metrics against goals to support portfolio reviews and ensure the portfolio remains on track to deliver organisational goals.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at the Francis Crick Institute and CRUK, including academics, researchers, and institutional leaders along with our philanthropy services and science engagement teams.

What skills are we looking for?

• Extensive experience of successfully soliciting gifts from trusts and foundation at five and six-figure level.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to navigate complex environments and competing priorities.

• Proven track record of trust and foundation fundraising in the not-for-profit sector, ideally in a research environment and/or large organisation.

• Have a "can do" attitude and a demonstrated ability to problem solve.  Ability to apply past experience of trust fundraising to anticipate potential challenges and address them quickly.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Trusts and Foundations Manager to join our team at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm. 

This role is a new and important addition to the charity as we drive forward future developments, helping to brighten the lives of children throughout the city. As the Trust Fundraiser, you will be an essential member of the fundraising team, playing a pivotal role in identifying and capitalising on grant opportunities that will contribute to significant growth and long-term sustainability for the charity. This includes cultivating and managing a pipeline of potential funders, as well as staying alert about the external environment to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Charity’s mission and strategic priorities.

The charity has exciting projects, developments, and plans, and Trusts and Foundations will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives. The successful candidate will need to expertly manage the Grants and Trusts Management life cycle to meet predetermined fundraising income targets.

We are looking for an individual who is not only detail-oriented but also passionate about our cause. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a small yet impactful, and collaborative team.

***The role is offered part-time, but we are keen to hear from a wide range of candidates so we’re open to various hours for consideration.

Knowledge and Experience

* Commitment to core organisational values.

* Excellent written communication skills with a track record of writing successful funding applications, report writing and telling stories with data.

* Experience of researching independently and project management.

* Impact assesement and stakeholder stewardship.

* Experience of using a CRM system and proficient in microsoft office. 

* Management of accurate fund expenditure and budgeting.

* Good understanding of fundraising and/or procurement processes, good practice, principles, and regulations.

* Ideally Third Sector knowledge.
