ABOUT THE ROLE

Team: Delivery/ SWNI

As the Project Officer, you will support schools across East Lothian to increase active travel, such as walking, wheeling and cycling. Your work will help pupils, staff and local communities travel in healthier and more sustainable ways.

What You’ll Be Doing

•      Deliver behaviour change and engagement projects that encourage active travel.
•      Plan, organise and run educational sessions, practical activities and events that help people make positive changes in how they travel.
•      Build effective working relationships with schools, community groups and local authorities to support these projects.
•      You will recruit, guide and support volunteers who help with the work of the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, making sure they feel informed and confident.
•      This role involves physical tasks such as lifting and moving bicycles, transporting boxes and equipment, and setting up activities within school environments. ABOUT YOU

•     At least 3 years of experience working with community groups. This can be paid work or voluntary work.
•     An understanding of Active Travel (walking, wheeling, cycling) and the challenges faced by communities who experience inequality or barriers.
•     Experience leading group workshops and presenting information clearly, both online and in person.
•     Knowledge of safeguarding principles and the ability to apply safe working practices that promote the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and adults at risk.
•     You will be required to travel between schools and transport equipment as part of this role. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is therefore needed.

Do you have the skills to manage contracts, lead a team, and work collaboratively within a multi-agency pathway?

We’re excited to offer an opportunity as Local Services Manager for Somerset. This is a home-based role, but you’ll need to travel regularly across the region for meetings, engagement activities, and partnership work. Mileage claims will be paid from the Somerset border. This is a large, rural county with poor transport links, so access to your own vehicle is required.

Somerset is a unique area for Alzheimer’s Society, with services delivered through a grant-funded contract with supportive and innovative commissioners. The Somerset Dementia Adviser Service is also an active participant in the Somerset Dementia Partnership, and has supported delivery of conferences and activities. The local ICB has recently clustered with Dorset and BANES, Swindon and Wiltshire, connecting you to colleagues within your ICB and the wider South West.

You’ll work closely with another Local Services Manager to oversee delivery across the region. Your responsibilities will include managing contracts and groups, leading a team of Dementia Advisers, our valued volunteers and ensuring services align with our Help and Hope strategy and organisational values.

About you

You will have:

- Experience in managing or supporting service delivery, ideally within health, social care or community settings or transferable experience from related sectors.
 
- Experience in leading geographically dispersed, community-based teams and managing contracts, with a focus on quality and safe delivery of a high performing service.
 
- You will be confident using IT systems and managing and reviewing information through computerised recording systems. You will also be able to confidently navigate relationships through virtual means, including Teams.
 
- Passionate about continually improving services for people affected by dementia and informed by their experiences. You will be committed to our values, and have a focus on meeting the needs of the diverse communities of Somerset, driving forward equity and accessibility in our service.
 
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across a dispersed team.
 
- Have organisational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and monitor performance.
  - Be able to travel regularly across Somerset and maintain a strong local presence.

- You will be responsible for quality monitoring, performance and team culture of the Somerset team.
 
- Building relationships with local authorities, the health board, and pathway partners, including presenting to diverse audiences and advocating for people with dementia and the service. This may also include occasional requests for media interviews.
  - Identifying opportunities to strengthen services and improve outcomes for people affected by dementia.

This is a part-time role in a well-established charity based in Twickenham. This role would suit someone who wants to have the opportunity to work flexibly and build their career in the Charity sector with experience of working in social care.

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. 

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

As a Young Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to young carers and a commitment to enhancing their wellbeing. The role supports in the direct delivery of a range of services to young carers including information and advice, emotional support, a mentoring programme, signposting and referrals to other specialist organisations. As part of the Young Carers Support Team, you will also be involved in the planning and delivery of an extensive programme of leisure break activities for young carers, both term-time and in the school holidays. Part of the role will also aim to improve the identification, recognition and understanding of the needs of young carers, raise the profile of young carers and ensure young carers needs are met. Using all your skills, you will work with the team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers and to use appropriate monitoring and evaluation reports to show our funders what we’ve achieved.

You will be someone:

· Who works in a person-centred way.

· Has an understanding of social care particularly in relation to young carers

· Has experience of working with clients who have support needs

Main Duties include:

· To provide regular emotional support to young carers and their families through a range of methods, offering appropriate, generic advice

· To provide individual support to young carers, and sibling young carers on a case-by-case basis towards established outcomes through delivery of a mentoring programme

· To be proactive in the identification and registration of young carers, which will include conducting internal assessments of their caring role and responsibilities and identifying support needs

· To support with the planning and participate in the delivery of young carers group activities and events

· To work with schools, voluntary organisations, statutory services, health services and others to raise awareness and identify young carers

· To keep accurate records of group and individual young carer engagement for monitoring and evaluation purposes

· To participate in key events organised by Richmond Carers Centre and other relevant partners to promote services to a wider public

The Role at a Glance

Youth Mentor / Regional Team Lead (we call it Senior Programme Coordinator)

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, including up to two evenings per week until 7pm

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Programme Coordinator, you'll help make sure that support reaches as many young people as possible and that it's delivered to a consistently high standard.

You'll lead a small team of sports coaches and youth mentors, helping them plan great sessions, develop their practice and overcome the day-to-day challenges that come with the job. You'll also build and maintain strong relationships with schools, alternative provisions and community partners to keep programmes running smoothly.

This is a hands-on role. Alongside keeping regional delivery on track, you'll still spend time working directly with young people: being a positive presence, modelling good practice and helping create the kind of safe, engaging environments where young people can thrive.

You'll also take the lead on the activities that go beyond our weekly sessions such as organising holiday programmes, Career Taster Days, regional trips and events that give young people experiences they wouldn't otherwise have. These are some of the most rewarding parts of the role and a real chance to see young people shine in a different context.

Building relationships in the community is a big part of this too. You'll get to know the local area, embed yourself in the networks around it and find partners, venues and opportunities that help deepen out work and enhance our engagement with young people.

In addition to National Lottery funding, The National Lottery Community Fund distributes funding through the Dormant Assets scheme. Dormant Assets funding in Northern Ireland supports community organisations to become more sustainable and resilient, strengthening areas such as governance, digital capability and organisational development.

Background on Dormant Assets NI

In addition to being a distributor of National Lottery funding, The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money released for social purpose as laid out in the Dormant Bank and Building Society Accounts Act 2008 and the Dormant Assets Act 2022.

This legislation enables funds from dormant bank accounts and other financial products to be channelled towards good causes in the United Kingdom through an independent body called the Reclaim Fund.

Funds are distributed to The National Lottery Community Fund, which in turn makes them available for good causes in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each devolved administration issues policy directions on how these funds are to be used.

The policy directions issued by the Department of Finance in September 2019 directed The National Lottery Community Fund to establish Dormant Assets NI to build capacity, resilience and sustainability in the third sector across Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

​Working within the Communications Strategy team, you’ll lead communications activity for Dormant Assets NI. You will focus on raising awareness of the programme, engaging with organisations and sector networks, and sharing learning and impact through a range of channels.

The role combines proactive communications, relationship building, and close working with Policy and Engagement colleagues to support meaningful engagement with the voluntary and community sector. Responsibilities will include:

• Working with the Communications team, lead on communications activity for Dormant Assets NI, including regular funding announcements and programme milestones, ensuring messages reach the right audiences through appropriate channels
• Building and maintaining relationships with sector bodies, networks and specialist media, working closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Policy and Engagement, to amplify awareness of Dormant Assets funding.
• Working closely with the Dormant Assets NI team and the NI Customer Engagement team on the planning and delivery of grant-holder and learning events (in-person and virtual).
• Working with the Fund’s media team, you will lead on announcements, handle dormant-assets-related press requests, and contribute to reactive communications where required.

• Working directly with grant holders to gather stories of impact, quotes and visual content, including site visits to supported organisations.

• Contributing to reporting and accountability requirements, including quarterly updates for the Reclaim Fund, reporting to the Department of Finance, and using internal systems and CMS tools to maintain accurate records and project summaries.

A newly created role, the Head of Relationship Fundraising will lead a diverse portfolio spanning Family & Friends fundraising, community fundraising, mid-value and major donor relationships, charity partnerships and corporate fundraising opportunities. Housing First Support Worker – Connect Community Trust (Somerset)
Salary: £27,669.10 per annum (pro rata) 35hrs a week

Are you passionate about walking alongside people as they rebuild their lives? We’re looking for a compassionate and committed Housing First Support Worker to help people move on from homelessness into secure, independent living.

This is a truly person-centred, community-based role where relationships are at the heart of everything. You’ll work with individuals who have often experienced significant trauma and exclusion, offering flexible, long-term support that adapts to their needs. Through patience, consistency, and trust, you’ll support people to maintain their tenancies, improve their wellbeing, and reconnect with their communities.

You’ll hold a small caseload, enabling you to provide meaningful, tailored support – whether that’s helping someone set up their new home, access health and recovery services, manage finances, or simply being a steady, reliable presence in their lives. Working collaboratively with local partners, you’ll play a key role in helping people build a stable and hopeful future.

About you:
You’ll bring experience of working with people facing homelessness, mental health challenges, or other complex needs, alongside a genuine belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home. You’ll be resilient, empathetic, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. Strong communication skills are essential, as is a full driving licence and access to a vehicle, given the rural nature of the role.

Project Coordinator (Boys’ Development Team)

As a Project Coordinator you will be responsible for delivering a range of services in primary and secondary schools, supporting FM development and transitional work with boys and young men. The post holder will support the Head of Programme (Boys’ Development Team) with formulating a strategy for developing this work across localities, in line with FM’s vision, mission and values and business plan. A key element will be to support new developments, identify best practice in conflict management work and embed these in current services.

Key Responsibilities

Project Work

• Plan and deliver services that support improved behaviour, wellbeing, engagement, and successful transition from primary to secondary school.
• Work with the line manager to develop and replicate programmes so other practitioners can build skills in these areas.
• Support project development in line with FM’s Business Plan.
• Consult with boys and young men to ensure their views inform service development.
• Follow FM’s Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Record Keeping and Evaluation

• Maintain accurate records of sessions in line with procedures.
• Provide progress reports to schools as required.
• Comply with monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure effective outcomes.
• Follow FM’s data sharing policy when handling service user data.

Collaboration and Teamwork

• Work in partnership with relevant projects, practitioners, agencies, and parents.
• Raise awareness of issues leading to conflict (e.g. transitions, racism, gang culture).
• Build relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations to support boys and young men.
• Promote services locally and support training delivery for practitioners.
• Contribute to the development of best practice models within FM.

General

• Ensure services are inclusive and reflect diversity.
• Represent FM as appropriate.
• Attend supervision and annual appraisals.
• Follow all FM policies and act in its best interests.
• Maintain satisfactory DBS clearance.
• Undertake other duties as required to support FM’s mission.
