About the role
As the Digital Learning Project Lead you will be integral in driving the development and implementation of innovative digital learning solutions to enhance learning experiences across the humanitarian sector. You will leverage emerging technologies and digital tools to design, implement, and evaluate learning that fosters engagement, promotes accessibility, and achieves desired outcomes.
You are a creative professional with strong technical expertise who can take the lead on learning needs analyses, excel at understanding learning requirements, collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders, and design a variety of innovative learning solutions that provide tangible value.
In this role, you will:
- Be responsible for complete digital project design, development and delivery
- Develop and implement innovative digital learning solutions to enhance learning experiences across the humanitarian sector, ensuring they are engaging and effective.
- Design customised learning solutions based on comprehensive client needs analysis, aligning them with organisational goals and constraints to achieve desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and organisational leaders to create learner-centric experiences using cutting-edge instructional design principles and emerging technologies.
- Provide training and support to educators and trainers for the adoption and use of digital learning tools, enhancing their capabilities and confidence.
- Work on the HLA's technology strategy as part of an MDT
- Manage relationships with external digital learning delivery partners and consultants to ensure smooth programme execution and high-quality outcomes.
About you
To be successful, you will bring:
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of industry standards for digital learning resources (SCORM, AICC, LTI and xAPI) and experience of quality assuring and publishing resources onto LMS and other platforms.
- Experience of developing multilingual learning resources and localising content for specific regions.
- Experience of the use of standard industry tools (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign) to produce professional graphics and documents.
- Experience of designing and creating other micro-learning digital resources, for example animations, games, micro-sites, virtual and immersive content.
- Experience of video and audio editing using standard industry tools (Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Camtasia).
- Experience of the use of various webinar (Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom) and blended learning tools (Nearpod, Padlet, Mentimeter, Miro) to help support the remote delivery of technical training.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories and experience of practical implementation.
- Familiarity with learning management systems, eLearning tools, and technology platforms.
- Proficiency in producing professional graphics, documents, videos, and digital assets using Adobe software; knowledge of HTML, CSS, and CMS preferred.
- Data analysis skills to track and assess the effectiveness of learning platforms and services.

We are an award-winning national charity which trains over 20,000 young people affected by street violence each year in emergency first-aid, through a team of 250 healthcare volunteers and youth workers. Our media function at Hospice UK is critical to our mission to promote and protect hospice care for all.The Media and PR Manager leads our media strategy, helping to tell our story with ambition and impact – shaping conversations, building national influence and raising the profile of hospice care across the UK.
This post holder will have a sharp eye for a story, be a bold and instinctive media strategist and amplify the voices of people who need to be heard to change minds influence political decision makers and put Hospice UK at the forefront of the debate.
The Team
You will work within the Communications team that sits within the wider External Affairs Directorate. We are around 20 in total, including 4 colleagues based in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Communications team includes colleagues working across content, social and digital, as well as partnership marketing and member communications.
You will work closely with a smaller team of 3 colleagues, our Senior Social Media Officer, Content and Brand Manager and your line manager – our Senior Communications and Communications Manager. Together you will be involved in the big issues in hospice care, making sure Hospice UK is vocal, visible and leading the debate.
There is a strong collaborative and supportive culture across the External Affairs Department with lots of opportunity to exchange ideas, plan together and benefit from each other’s skills and expertise.
Working closely with our 200+ hospice members, we have a strong track record of securing strong media coverage and winning campaigns on their behalf, most notably over the two years by securing increased investment in hospices by governments in Westminster, Cardiff and Edinburgh.
But our work is not done. Hospices are under significant pressure and need both better government investment and continued public support. Our focus now is ensuring that hospices can meet ever increasing demand for their services, with well-funded and well-staffed hospices across the UK.
About You
You're a talented and ambitious media professional with a strong instinct for a story and a passion for creating impact. Whether spotting opportunities in a fast-moving news cycle, building trusted relationships with journalists, or developing proactive media campaigns, you know how to secure attention for the issues that matter.
You'll bring significant experience in media, PR or communications, ideally within the charity, health, care or public sector, and have a proven track record of delivering media strategies that drive measurable results. You'll be equally comfortable pitching a compelling human-interest story, translating complex policy issues into engaging content, or providing calm, confident counsel to senior leaders during high-profile or sensitive situations.
We're looking for someone who is proactive, strategic and highly collaborative. You'll have excellent writing skills, strong media contacts (or the ability to build them quickly), and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels. Role and responsibilities

Organisational operations and systems

- Work closely with the evaluator and delivery team to understand the practical issues involved in delivering evaluations and providing support when problems arise
- Manage evaluation contracts and budgets, and monitoring delivery of evaluation plans
- Conduct technical reviews of protocols, study plans, statistical analysis plans and evaluation reports
- Work closely with EEF’s Programmes and Dissemination and Impact teams to ensure that published reports are of high quality and effectively communicate findings to an audience of practitioners, academics, policymakers and the general public
- Develop and improve evaluation guidance and resources to clarify best practice and build the capacity of evaluators to conduct high quality research.
Candidate:
You'll be able to demonstrate:
- A commitment to the aims of the EEF and a genuine interest in the education sector in England
- An understanding of technical aspects of evaluation methodologies (randomised controlled trials, quasi-experimental designs, choice of outcome measurement, implementation and process evaluations (IPEs), etc.) and an ability to identify high quality evaluation plans and reports
- Experience in delivering or commissioning quantitative evaluation projects in education, health, or another related field
- Strong relationship management skills including managing stakeholder performance and differences in opinion
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences including practitioners, academics, and policymakers
- An organised and methodical approach, with excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- The ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and a commitment to fact checking own work, as well as the ability to work closely and collaboratively across teams
- A proactive, flexible, and pragmatic approach to evaluation, with an ability to balance a commitment to rigour with accessibility and impact
- A degree in an education, economics, policy, statistics, data science, sciences, or health-related subject
- A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
In addition, there are a few desirable skills for this role which could help you to stand out. Great if you already have them, but we don’t expect any candidate to have them all, and will provide training as required for the right candidate:
- Experience in delivering or commissioning quasi-experimental evaluations
- Experience in delivering or commissioning evaluations or research in Further Education (FE) / post-16
- A PhD or Masters with training in quantitative methods and/or mixed methods
- Experience conducting relevant statistical analysis and/or qualitative analysis.
