Every year, thousands of people in the UK face court alone. Often through no choice of their own, people must represent themselves at a moment that could have life-changing outcomes. This includes loss of access to children or homelessness. At the same time, people facing court alone may find themselves up against a party with legal representation. They are instantly at a disadvantage and overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges they are up against. We supported unrepresented litigants in the civil and family courts in England and Wales over 45,000 times last year.

We provide a safe space with volunteers who listen to each client’s individual story. Last year, over 1000 volunteers helped people to get their thoughts in order, problem-solve and decide next steps, source relevant and reliable legal information, explain complex procedures, complete court forms, and clearly present statements.

At a time when legal support is increasingly limited, we have a vision that no one should have to face court alone.

To make this vision a reality, we have a focused communications strategy to ensure the charity has the brand, reach and impact it needs to connect with unrepresented court users and engage supporters.

We’re looking for a Triage Project Lead to join our team on a 6-month contract. You’ll be leading on a project to improve the way in which we triage our clients across our services, with a focus on supporting survivors of domestic abuse better, by enabling our volunteers to identify them earlier in the process and respond accordingly, incorporating a trauma-informed approach.

The role

The Triage Project Lead will be based in the service department, and you’ll be supported by the Head of Service Delivery. 

We’re open to applications from professionals with experience of designing and implementing effective traiging processes who are able to work remotely, and undertake some travel to our offices across England and Wales.

  This is a part time role working 14 hours a week in one of our busy clothing stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. This contract is for 9.15 to 17.15 over 2 days per week, additional shifts may be available to cover annual leave.

  What does this role involve?

  As a Sales Assistant you’ll be at the very heart of our retail operation. This is not just a standing behind the till or filling shelves type of role, we’re looking for someone who will deliver a first class customer service experience. It’s a fun, fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and everyone works as a team.

  Every day is different in charity retail, as well as working on the till or sorting donations, you can expect to:

  • Engage with customers, providing exceptional service and promoting our charity’s mission
  • Organise and merchandise donated stock creatively to maximise sales potential
  • Collaborate with our E-Commerce team to maximise online sales
  • As a Keyholder, you’ll be the go-to person when there isn’t a manager on duty, keeping the store running and ensuring our customers have a great experience. You’ll need to be 18+ years old to apply for this role.

  Please note, this role can be physically demanding and will involve moving a high volume of donation bags.

  You will be given lots of autonomy in your role and will strive to continually build your knowledge of BHF.

Job Title: Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

We are looking for a skilled, values driven IDVA who is committed to challenging inequality, reducing harm, and improving safety for adults and children affected by domestic abuse. You will bring relevant professional experience, strong skills in assessment, engagement, safety planning and communication, and the ability to work safely in complex and high risk situations. We are seeking people who can hold clear boundaries and accountability while offering empathy, curiosity and respect. You will work in a trauma informed, survivor centred and strengths based way, recognising each survivor as the expert in their own life. You will understand how gendered power, oppression and structural barriers shape survivors’ experiences, and you will be confident applying these principles in your practice.

About The Role
At Alzheimer’s Society, every action we take is about making life better for people living with dementia and their carers. We are looking for a Assistant Legacy Case Officer who wants to be part of that mission. This is more than a job. It is a chance to play a pivotal role in securing the future of our work. Through your care, attention, and expertise, you will manage legacies that help ensure we can support thousands of people affected by dementia now and in the years to come.
What You Will Do
Every day in this role is about people and purpose. You will care for a diverse caseload of around 300 pecuniary and specific legacies, guiding them with sensitivity, professionalism, and empathy. You will build trusting relationships with solicitors, executors, co-beneficiaries, and other stakeholders, helping them navigate what can be a complex and emotional process.
Your work will ensure that all legal requirements are met and that every legacy is handled with integrity. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the Legacy team, sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and contributing to projects that keep our work running smoothly.
You will also help raise awareness of legacy giving, making connections with key stakeholders and helping secure vital income for the Society. Every receipt you issue, every file you progress, and every relationship you nurture directly helps people living with dementia and their families.

You will have the opportunity to develop expertise across residuary and trust legacies while building your professional skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. About You

- Have experience in Legacy Administration or a willingness to learn, with familiarity with First Class 4 or similar systems
- Have some understanding of Wills, Probate, or Trust law, or be keen to develop this knowledge
- Be working towards, or interested in, an ILM Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or similar professional development
- Be able to thrive in a busy administrative environment, balancing multiple priorities independently or as part of a supportive team
- Be comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel
- organised self-starter with attention to detail and pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work
- Communicate sensitively and professionally, showing empathy and respect to colleagues, stakeholders, and people affected by dementia
