Key Responsibilities

• Manage the purchase ledger, including coding invoices, maintaining records for capital projects,and running payments
• Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and digital payment systems to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims and grant applications.
• Process payroll information prior to submission to payroll bureau and ensure timely payment to staff.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and circulate reports to department heads.
• Post journals, accruals, and prepayments during month-end routines.
• Reconcile intercompany transfers and company charge card transactions.

Job Specification

Working Hours

Job Purpose

• The home and settle service works collaboratively with hospitals to support people when they are discharged from hospital to return home. You will provide temporary practical and emotional support to service users within their home and make sure they understand the care and treatment choices available to them. The service is time limited, usually up to 6 weeks, to adjust and settle back in their homes. 

Key Tasks

•  Assess the needs of service users in hospital before discharge, and in their homes, and understand what barriers and enablers there might be to moving home.
• Aid the discharge process and improve patient experience through tasks such as key cutting and co-ordinating with colleagues for the setup of the home environment.
• Provide (and/or arrange) the practical and emotional support needed to enable service users to move home and/or remain safely at home.
• Be vigilant and make referrals/signpost for additional needs that our wider team, or partners can support. E.g. for benefit checks, energy advice, carers support, befriending. 
• Help maximise service user independence by adopting an enabling approach.
• Develop a listening and caring relationship with the service user and their families/carers.
• Provide domestic practical support within the home e.g. light cleaning, washing, ironing (service user clothing only) etc.
• Prepare and service drinks and simple meals with or for the service user customer ensuring nutritional needs are met in accordance with individual support plan.
• Accompany service user outside the home e.g. hospital/GP appointments etc.

Quality

• Ensure services provided in the community are delivered in line with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) principles.
• Deliver all work in line with AUKEL quality mark standards.
• Commit to undertaking the Care Certificate, if not already held or in possession of NVQ level 2.
• Complete essential training as required by AUKEL to provide safe services.

Liaison

• Work in collaboration with other agencies providing support within the customer's home.

• Carry out basic repairs and maintenance which could include furniture upkeep, gardening, replacing bulbs, painting and decorating

About you

We're looking for someone who has a keen interest in Caretaking and has an understanding of health, safety, and environment, with the ability to apply this practically to a residential service. Summary /overall purpose

As the Research Programmes Coordinator, you will work closely with the Director of Patient and Clinical Research Programmes and the wider research team, playing a key role in the smooth delivery of our diverse research initiatives and events.

You will be at the centre of coordinating the administration of patient events, workshops, high-profile conferences and other events, ensuring they run seamlessly. Main responsibilities

· Scientific & Patient Event Management: Support the end-to-end project management of scientific events, conferences, symposiums and patient workshops ensuring smooth execution, timely delivery, and alignment with strategic goals.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team of 28 staff, ideally before the end of 2025.

This is a hybrid role of 3 to 4 days a week with a minimum of 2 days a week based at the office in Talgarth, LD3 0BW.

We offer flexibility around working hours, with the expectation of trustee meeting attendance 3 times a year, and weekly management and team meetings on-site over 2 days. We offer 24 days holiday (pro rata), plus 8 statutory public holidays (not pro rata). The starting salary is £60,000 (pro rata) plus a 6% employer pension contribution on a salary sacrifice scheme.

The CFO works alongside the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer to manage the finances and governance of The Wye and Usk Foundation (WUF), a conservation charity with an annual income between £1.5m and £2m.

Given the retirement of the current postholder at the end of 2025, we are seeking a well-qualified and experienced individual to take on this senior leadership role as soon as possible to enable handover to occur.

The role is very varied and wide-ranging, including presenting financial information and management accounts to the trustees and senior management on a monthly basis, maintaining annual budgeting, appraising internal project budgets and contracts, preparing annual statutory accounts in line with the Charity SORP and liaising with external auditors, and managing the VAT requirements for the organisation on a partial VAT basis.

The postholder will lead a team of three in the finance department and join a very knowledgeable and welcoming team of 28 highly engaged and passionate staff at WUF.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Working alongside the CEO, the CFO will provide commercial, financial and governance management and leadership for WUF. The CFO will not only be an exceptional accountant, with executive oversight of the finance function, but will be commercially astute and have the confidence to represent robustly the best interests of WUF. The CFO will also be an experienced manager of people.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Act as a business partner to support and constructively challenge the CEO in the general management of WUF, reporting to the trustees.
2. Lead all aspects of the finance function (including maintaining and developing the financial control environment; robust financial accounting; cashflow management; incisive management information; clear and concise reporting to the trustees) to ensure that the Charity and the Companies’ assets are secured, risks are managed, and the Board of Trustees can make well-informed decisions.
3. Manage relationships with auditors, funders, banks, investment platforms (with assistance from the trustees), and other external organisations.
4. Provide support to project bids and the development of other commercial opportunities to ensure that bids/opportunities are optimised for WUF.
5. Provide input to project and programme delivery from time to time, to ensure that performance is maximised for WUF.
6. Attend trustee meetings and Finance and General Purposes Committee meetings to guide the Board of Trustees and the Senior Management Team on financial, commercial and governance issues.
7. Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Charity Commission and Companies House and, from time to time, provide guidance to members of WUF on good governance practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Ramblers membership acquisition programme to attract and retain new members and supporters. This includes integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns (including digital and face-to-face) and a test-and-learn approach to optimise conversion rates, sales, ROI and life-time value, with support from the Head of Member and Supporter Experience. At the Ramblers our current key acquisition channels are Digital Marketing, telemarketing and private site.
• Manage our welcome and reactivation programmes (email, mail and telephone).
• Using evidence-based insights, work with the Head of Member and Supporter Experience to evolve the membership proposition (embedding Ramblers new digital assets, platforms, products, offers) to enhance our relevance and reach.
• Manage the acquisition budget of c£500k, producing timely reports to the Head of Member and Supporter Experience on income, expenditure and KPIs to monitor performance against plans. Lead the reforecast process for key lines accountable for and support the budget process.
• Lead key acquisition projects across the organisation, delivering to time and budget.
• Ensure regulatory compliance is embedded across team processes and communications in areas such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), Gift Aid, and the Fundraising Regulator. Ensure any agencies used adhere to the high standards we set.
• Work across teams  to develop and deliver engaging supporter journeys that enhance and deepen supporters’ experience of the Ramblers.
• Agency and supplier management – manage and develop strategic relationships with our agencies, including the management of SLAs and performance measures, ensuring consistently high levels of performance.
• Consult, equip and support the Ramblers GB-wide network of volunteer ‘membership ambassadors’ providing tools and resources to grow membership.
