What we need from you
Good general education (evidence of numeracy and literacy). Level 5 NVQ in care or an equivalent qualification or higher is highly desirable. At least three years of previous experience of working within a social care setting supporting adults with learning disabilities. At least one year at a supervisory level with experience of managing teams.
What is also important to us is that you share our values, have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. You will be good at both listening to and talking with people. You will have a positive and patient approach to supporting people with daily activities and enjoy helping people learn and explore new things. You have a flexible approach and like to work both as part of a team as well as on your own.
You will be working on a rota which is normally fixed couple of weeks in advance. This will involve shifts that normally include working both daytime, evenings and some weekends as well as bank holidays
A full manual driving licence will be beneficial, which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be driving the charity’s vehicles.

Purpose of the Role:
Working as part of our management team in the Delrow Community, this role will involve taking the lead in developing bespoke packages of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) to meet the individual needs of people with a range of learning disabilities, including autism.
It is also to train, advise and support our staff with the implementation of strategies, to ensure we are providing consistent PBS across the Community.
Key responsibilities:
- Improve communication for people we support (Switches, PECS, Eye Gaze, Makaton signing etc.). To also have knowledge of Dysphagia assessment and treatment.
- Advising on best practice and providing practice leadership and coaching to staff on Active Support and PBS.
- Provide positive behaviour support training and physical interventions training.
- Take a leading role in the assessment, transition, and implementation of plans for new people we support.
- Follow and shape policies, procedures, and practices. To make sure appropriate recording and reporting arrangements exist to support the delivery and evidencing of service delivery standards
What we are looking for:
- A Positive Behaviour Support Qualification or accreditation
- Proven record of working with adults with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum disorder.
- Skilled in using PBS and functional assessment to improve people’s lives
- In depth experience of quality assurance processes and evidencing outcomes/standards.
You may either have substantial experience working in adult social care or have experience as a psychologist, a learning disabilities nurse or a social worker.

Following a recent restructure of our Children’s Home, we are seeking to appoint a Registered Manager to support the Head of Child Care Services in running an outstanding service for our children and young people. You’ll be allocated a specific area of responsibility and have overall management for a designated bungalow and staff team. Each of our bungalows are home to a maximum of 6 children and young people. This role will be busy and varied; you’ll take the operational lead for all safeguarding matters, ensure that all staff are effectively trained and supervised, provide strategic advice and support to develop the children’s home and school, whilst working closely with the Head of Residential Child Care Services to ensure a safe and professional environment for our staff, children and young people.

This is a demanding role for someone who is ready to step up and take their leadership and management skills to the next level. The Social Interest Group (SIG) is a leading UK based charity, providing bespoke person centred social and health care solutions. Utilising strength-based models of working, we specialise in rehabilitation and supporting people who have complex needs, empowering them to achieve their full potential. We deliver social and health care services through our subsidiary charities SIG Penrose, SIG Equinox and SIG Investments.
Project CATE (Community Action to Thrive & Enable) is a 12-month pilot service to provide a specialist outreach service in Bedfordshire to work with wider partners as part of the Conditional Caution Pathway. Its purpose is to help bridge the current gap in providing much needed access into current provisions and enabling engagement for a complex and extremely hard to reach group of vulnerable women and ensuring they remain engaged.
During this 12-month fixed term contract, the Specialist Women’s Support Coordinator (SWSC) will receive referrals from You Turn Futures and wider partners, to offer additional trauma-informed wraparound support coordination and all the expertise and specialist knowledge of SIG Penrose in supporting vulnerable women who:
- have a history of drug and/or alcohol misuse
- a history of offending or who are at risk of offending
- are at risk more widely from exploitation
Working with the Service Manager and Senior Management Team, you will support the implementation of this new pilot service, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions. You will adopt a strength-based, non-judgmental approach with the clients you support, whilst also being vigilant on identifying and managing risks, including safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children.
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience of working with women in a residential or outreach setting and/or with women with multiple and complex needs. You will be passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives and a belief that everyone can turn their life around regardless of past or present circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to ensure that the pilot service is delivered in line with contractual requirements, and all contractual and legislative requirements are being met.
- Ensure that all Service Users have appropriate recovery and support plans completed in a timely fashion and are monitored and reviewed at regular intervals or as required
- Have a proactive approach to rehabilitation, resettlement, recovery and safeguarding practice and ensure the methodology of Psychologically Informed Environments is adhered to and implemented across the service.
- Support and encourage Service User Involvement and Engagement locally and at the wider organisational level initiatives.
- Provide support in the planning and maintaining the Service’s budget and report on budget variances including the use of service user’s engagement budget, and collection of outstanding invoices.
- Support the Service Manager in building and maintaining close links and good relationships with local community groups and representatives ensuring that the local partners have a good understanding of the purpose and working of the scheme.
Experience Required:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance or equivalent

The post-holder will contact service users to carry out surveys on their wellbeing and their experience of the programme, recording all on approved systems. We currently use the ONS Wellbeing Scale, and the Campaign to End Loneliness Scale. Other surveys may be used from time to time.
Training and induction will be provided on the specific surveys used, on general survey methods, and on working with vulnerable people.
The post-holder will also maintain administrative records to support the service, and arrange meetings and events as required.

Surveys
- With advice and support, maintain a calendar of all calls to be made (roughy 50 calls per week).
- Make calls according to the schedule and complete the required surveys.
- Record all responses using the approved systems.
- Highlight any concerns, trends or feedback.
- Treat all clients with courtesy and consideration at all times.
- Support W3RT’s Community Navigation lead with other aspects of work.
General responsibilities
- Work within agreed procedures, regulations and systems, including for accounting, expenses, communications, data collection, monitoring, and quality assurance.
- Establish and maintain professional and supportive relationships with colleagues and with local groups.
- Undertake such other administrative work as may reasonably be required from time to time.

About the role:
Advocates support people who may be marginalised or vulnerable to speak up and be heard. Their work strengthens voices, supports human rights and changes lives. Advocacy can be vital for people who cannot speak up for themselves, or people who feel they do not have the power to do so.
Advocates work in on the front line delivering positive outcomes for the people they support. Advocates will support and enable service users’ understanding of their options. Advocates empower individuals to communicate their views in decision making processes, supporting them to make challenges when necessary and asking pertinent questions on the person’s behalf where they are unable to do so for themselves.
Location: Both roles will be home based. You will need to be able to travel and work primarily across the Redbridge and Newham area or Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

About you:
• Be passionate about empowering and enabling individuals to have their wishes, feelings, beliefs, and needs taken into account when decisions are made about their care
• Demonstrate excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills
• Have the ability to engage with people with complex needs and communication difficulties
• Be experienced in influencing and working with health and social care professionals, legal services, care staff, family members etc.

- Hold or be working towards Independent Advocacy Qualification
- Experience of working in schools, colleges, registered care homes and supported living services, education or care settings with children and young people
- Experience of autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, including behaviours of concern
- Knowledge and experience of; Children’s Act (1989), Care Act (2014) and Mental Capacity Act (2007), The Principles of Human Rights and Advocacy, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Health Act (1983, revised 2007), Equality Act (2010).
NB If you don't already hold the Independent Advocacy Qualification, it is a requirement of that you complete this within 12 months of commencing employment.

Job Overview:
Waking Night Behavioural Specialist Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building a supportive, trusting relationship with the customer and creating a positive atmosphere;
- Supporting the customer in their preferred night time routine, including personal care and promoting good sleep hygiene;
- Supporting the customer to undertake activities in line with their preferences;
- Ensuring the customer's safety and wellbeing at night, providing emotional and practical support and reassurance as needed;
- Using positive behavioural support and Autism-specific approaches to manage any distress during night time hours;
- Working proactively with other members of the team to meet the needs of the customer and handle administrative responsibilities;
- Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals;
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with the customer within an attitude of 'positive risk taking';
- Ensuring appropriate handovers between shifts and documenting night time activity, including any incidents;
- Working in line with Look Ahead's lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
- Adhering to all other Look Ahead policies and procedures;
- Engaging in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
- Ad-hoc domestic / cleaning duties;
- Working as part of a team with Look Ahead colleagues, the customer's family and external professionals;
- Undertaking any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as assigned by the Team Leader/Manager
