The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead our fundraising strategy and team to secure significant, multi-year income from corporates, trusts and foundations, and major donors. You’ll be responsible for expanding our funding base, deepening key relationships, and ensuring STEM Learning has the partnerships and resources to achieve its ambitious mission.

The Policy and Campaigns Officer will develop policy positions and campaigns that will help ensure that the needs, rights and priorities of those living with DMD are understood and acted on by decision makers, policy makers, parliament and government. The Officer will work closely with colleagues in the Policy and Communications team to support a cohesive and impactful approach to policy, engagement and communications.
Job Description
- To ensure that the charity’s policy and campaigning work is firmly grounded in the views and experiences of the DMD community and to ensure that they are consulted and involved in the development (and delivery where appropriate) of Duchenne UK’s policy positions and campaigns.
 - To maximise the benefits of our existing relationships with civil servants, parliamentarians, policy makers, relevant organisations (such as NICE) and charity sector professionals and to create new relationships which help us to achieve our aims.
 - To organise events and parliamentary activity working with parliamentary supporters and the DMD community.
 - To devise low-budget campaigns aimed at creating positive change in policy, practice or attitudes that will improve the lives and outcomes of those living with DMD.

Essential experience:

Young Life has been working with young people in communities across the UK and Ireland, and over the past five years, the London Team has grown from a few staff serving one borough to 12 staff and 63 volunteer leaders supporting over 1,000 young people across 11 boroughs.
We are seeking a passionate London Director of Development to build and develop meaningful relationships, initially with London-based high-net-worth individuals, securing significant funding to grow Young Life International's impact on young people in London and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in expanding a mission-driven charity's capacity to transform young lives.
In this influential brand new role, you'll develop an active portfolio of major donors and potential major donors, working towards establishing new funding each fiscal year including annual and multi-year commitments. You'll cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals and major trusts, represent Young Life in high-level meetings and networking events, and plan impactful vision events to inspire and engage supporters. Working collaboratively with senior management and fundraising colleagues, you'll connect donor interests with different aspects of Young Life's mission, inviting supporters to experience first-hand the life-changing work being done. You'll also lead on securing grants from key UK trusts and oversee an effective stewardship process to retain and grow donor support.
With the potential for wider influence across the UK and Europe, you'll lead by example in donor stewardship, train the wider team, and play a key role in expanding Young Life International's philanthropy efforts.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with major donors and secure funding in the range of £10,000+
 - Experience in securing multi-year funding from trusts, foundations, and institutional donors
 - Ability to organise and deliver high-quality vision events to enable prospects to hear the case for support
 - Leadership experience, capable of managing a high-performing team

Sitopia Farm is a modern, urban farm located in Greenwich, SE London, dedicated to reconnecting people with the origins of their food and promoting a healthier, more equitable and sustainable food system. Role Overview:
Sitopia Farm is seeking a part-time freelance Fundraising Consultant to lead all aspects of fundraising, with a specific focus on securing the £650,000 needed for our eco-barn project. This is a critical role that offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping us bring this vision to life. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in fundraising strategy, grant writing, major donor engagement, and ideally an understanding of capital campaigns. We have had a strong track record in securing smaller amounts of funding to date and have a strong network and potential opportunities that this role could capitalise on.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fundraising Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy principally to secure c. £650,000 for the eco-barn project and support and develop fundraising for other farm activities as required.
 - Identify and pursue diverse funding streams, including grants, corporate sponsorships, major donors, as well as crowdfunding and events.
 
2. Grant Writing and Proposal Development
- Research and apply for grants from trusts, foundations, and public funding bodies.
 - Write compelling funding proposals tailored to funders’ priorities and ensure timely submission.
 
3. Major Donor and Corporate Engagement
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
 - Develop tailored donor engagement plans, including pitches and impact reports.
 
4. Campaigns and Events
- Plan and execute an innovative fundraising campaign to raise awareness and funds for the eco-barn project.
 - Work in partnership with external event advisers and in collaboration with the wider Sitopia Farm team to create successful fundraising events.
 - Collaborate with the Sitopia Farm team to create engaging content and materials.
 
5. Project Management and Reporting
- Track and monitor fundraising progress against targets, providing regular updates to the team.
 - Ensure compliance with funders’ requirements and support the Sitopia Farm team to deliver impact reports as needed.
 
Essential:
- Proven track record of leading successful fundraising initiatives, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
 - Excellent skills in a range of fundraising techniques, in particular major donors, trusts and foundations.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident in building relationships with donors, businesses, and stakeholders.
 - Strong understanding of the UK fundraising landscape, fundraising regulation and code of practice.
 - Strong organisational skills- capable of managing multiple income streams with strong attention to detail and great record-keeping and project management.
 - Ability to work independently and drive results in a part-time, freelance capacity.
 
Desirable:
- Passion for sustainability, regenerative agriculture, and community-building projects.
 - Experience of fundraising for a capital project.
 - Experience of event and campaign management/ ability to work with others to deliver those aspects of the strategy.

About the role:
The Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships will lead a newly formed Philanthropy and Partnerships team to growth and success. The Principal Gifts Fundraiser is responsible for securing new six and seven figure gifts from individuals to grow our portfolio of major donors.
