About Quilombo UK
Quilombo UK is a social justice organisation dedicated to inspiring individuals to "See, Think, Behave and Speak Differently" about equality, diversity, and inclusion. We create engaging experiences—ranging from our Beyond Bias training to our "Voices for All" podcasts—that raise awareness and empower unheard voices within our diverse communities.
By joining us, you will play a pivotal role in our Professional Development Programme (PDP), which supports career changers and newcomers to the UK in bridging employment gaps and tackling discrimination in the job market. We are currently working towards SRA (Solicitors Regulation Authority) certification to provide formal accreditation for the time our team members spend with us. This will allow participants to count their contribution as Qualifying Work Experience (QWE), a vital step for those qualifying via the SQE route. This is a unique opportunity to deliver tangible community impact while directly enhancing the employability and professional standing of legal professionals.

The Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity for a career step-up, providing experience in managing legal teams and departmental operations within a social justice framework. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight: Developing and managing the legal department’s roadmap to support Quilombo UK’s social justice initiatives.
Team Supervision: Overseeing the work of legal graduates, many of whom are working towards their LLM (Master of Laws), ensuring their contributions are technically sound and ethically grounded.

Social Justice Advocacy: Managing caseloads and research projects that tackle systemic inequalities and discrimination within the community.
Operational Control: Maintaining 100% visibility of all legal tasks via project management tools and providing weekly reports to Directors on risks, progress, and Work in Progress (WIP).
Additional Professional Benefits
Career Development: A full CV and profile review conducted by our Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development teams.
Operational Support: Access to the services of the Legal, Graphic Design, PR, and Production teams for up to 10 hours per month for professional or departmental support.
Proactive Recruitment: Use of the Talent Acquisition team to actively search out new roles and opportunities via industry portals and LinkedIn.

Experience in a supervisory or management role, ideally overseeing paralegals or junior legal researchers.

People & Planet is looking for volunteers to assist with compiling its 2026/27 People & Planet University League; the only higher education ranking that classifies based on ethics and climate justice criteria.
Universities impart skills and knowledge, form life-long beliefs and behaviours, act as centres of communities, employ, house and feed large numbers of people and promote the creation and sharing of knowledge. We believe this makes them uniquely placed to lead on environmental and ethical issues. For this reason the People & Planet University League has been running since 2007 and has been published by high-profile media partners such as The Guardian (2021, 2022. 2023, 2024, 2025), The BBC, and whose data is used in the Sunday Time Good University Guide.
Volunteers will research publicly available university documents and assess universities against our marking criteria, which cover a wide range of climate and social justice issues including decarbonisation, fossil fuel divestment, ethical banking, workers’ rights and environmental management among others. This work will help to incentivise the university sector towards taking immediate and appropriate action on the climate crisis and upholding the rights and wellbeing of all people internationally.
The role will develop and improve the following areas:
Qualitative research skills
Attention to detail
Use of data collection software
Time management and keeping to deadlines
Working independently and remotely
Communication skills
Knowledge of environmental management processes and sustainability reporting.
Training is provided for the role. We believe the skills and experience gained could be valuable for a number of career paths, including working in NGOs, corporate sustainability, estates management, higher education policy making, research and campaigning among many others.
People & Planet would like to support volunteers in their future careers, so will give all volunteers an official reference letter on successful completion of their placement and will act as a referee for future positions for which you may apply. From last year’s cohort, 100% said they would recommend this position to someone who wanted to add experience to their CV.
Feedback from previous volunteers
‘I think as someone looking for relevant experience to bolster a CV, this is a helpful and not-too-time-consuming position. It had exactly the kind of flexibility that I required at this point in time.’
‘It's a really great opportunity to hone one's research skills, learn more about what our universities can do to improve their impact on the planet, and make a small but real difference.’
Person Specification -the following are essential:
Access to a computer or laptop and internet connection.
Familiarity with desk-based research.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently to agreed standards.
Reliability and commitment to completing work to deadlines.
Able to communicate needs with staff at People & Planet and if needed, ask for appropriate support to complete tasks in time.

Ability to work remotely and independently
The following are desirable:
Awareness of current issues in sustainability and ethics.

Head of Volunteering - VOLUNTEER ROLE
Remote | Approx. 4 hours per week | MINDSET Charity (UK)
Transforming men’s mental wellbeing through action, challenge, and real‑world connection
MINDSET is building a new kind of men’s mental wellbeing and personal growth movement in the UK — one that speaks the language men actually respond to: doing, belonging, challenge, and shared purpose. We’re not clinical. We’re not corporate. We’re not another “sit in a circle and talk about your feelings” model. We create experiences that help men grow, connect, and rebuild confidence from the inside out.
And now, we’re looking for a Head of Volunteering to help build the people‑power behind this national movement.
Why This Role Matters
Every programme, every challenge, every breakthrough moment for a man in our community depends on one thing: volunteers who care. Your leadership will shape the culture, structure, and heartbeat of the entire volunteer team. You will be the person who ensures that every volunteer feels valued, supported, and part of something meaningful.
This is a founding role — you will help build the volunteer framework that will support men across the UK for years to come.
What You’ll Lead
As our Head of Volunteering, you will:
Build and lead MINDSET’s volunteer programme from the ground up
Shape a warm, energetic, stigma‑free volunteer culture rooted in belonging and purpose
Recruit, onboard, and support volunteers across the UK
Create simple, clear processes that help volunteers thrive
Ensure volunteers feel connected, appreciated, and part of the mission
Work closely with programme leads to match volunteers to the right roles
Help build a movement that changes the way men experience wellbeing in this country
This role is remote, flexible, and designed for someone who wants to make a real impact in just a few hours each week.
Who This Role Is Perfect For
You’ll thrive in this role if you are:
A natural people‑person who loves bringing out the best in others
Organised, reliable, and able to build simple systems that work
Passionate about men’s wellbeing, personal growth, and community
Someone who believes volunteers deserve dignity, clarity, and appreciation
Excited by the idea of helping shape a national movement from its earliest days
You do not need charity experience. You do not need qualifications. You just need heart, initiative, and a desire to help men live fuller, healthier lives.
What You’ll Be Part Of
MINDSET is creating a new narrative for men in the UK — one built on strength, connection, and growth. Your leadership will directly support the delivery of programmes such as:
Our 12‑week Self‑Improvement Programme
Our Life Coaching Programme
Future activity‑based wellbeing programmes and challenges
You’ll be helping to build a movement that gives men the tools, confidence, and community they’ve been missing.
If you want to help build something bold, needed, and genuinely life‑changing…
We’d love to hear from you. Join us and help shape the volunteer community at the heart of MINDSET.
To empower men across England to take charge of their mental wellbeing and personal growth through connection, conversation, and community.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
