Derby Humanists bring non-religious people together to be happier and more fulfilled and to be a force for good in our community.

We are a Local Group of Humanists UK. All Humanists UK members and supporters in the local area are automatically part of the group.

Derby Humanists aim to provide a range of activities for non-religious people living in and around Derby to meet, socialise, campaign, raise awareness of humanism, participate in local civic life and support each other. The Local Group represents Humanists UK and the local humanist community at public events and in public forums. Derby Humanists is led by a team of volunteers that organises events and activities throughout the year.

We are seeking a dedicated and driven Social Media Lead to join our Committee, to assist in delivering the activities of Derby Humanists.

Responsibilities:

Website, social media and materials:

• Developing communications materials

 Fundraising:

• Researching and preparing funding proposals to institutional donors including corporates and  trusts
• Researching high net worth donors
• Maintaining  and building donor relations

Key Skills / Attributes:

Well established professional experience in corporate communications or  marketing or similar disciplines.

• Strong interest in volunteering within the arts in the third sector
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
• Organised and creative.
• Familiar with use of social media for corporate communications
• Management experience

Interest in / knowledge of ballet useful.

Your Role

As a Volunteer Fundraising Champion, you’ll help us raise the funds we need to provide life-changing breaks for families. You’ll be the creative spark and the friendly face behind fundraising efforts that make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organise and deliver creative fundraising activities (raffles, online quizzes, challenge events, etc.)

• Engage and support individual fundraisers (e.g. sponsored runners, event hosts)

• Act as a key contact for fundraising volunteers providing encouragement, advice, and practical support

• Develop and maintain a central fundraising tracker (Excel or similar)

• Log all fundraising activity, targets, and deadlines

• Collaborate with our social media volunteer to promote campaigns

• Support recruitment and onboarding of new fundraising volunteers

Obuyisi bw’Omu Initiative empowers underserved communities in Uganda—particularly women, youth, and children—through grassroots action, advocacy, and partnerships. Role Description: 

Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative empowesr Ugandan communities with mental health, WASH, education, and climate resilience initiatives.

What you will do :

•Support Weekly Marketing Tasks: Assist with various marketing activities such as content creation for social media, campaign analysis, brand image improvement and more!
•Social Media Strategy: Help create and schedule content using Meta Business Suite based on basic social media marketing principles.
•Task Tracking: Check in and update your progress using the task tracker in Excel or Notion provided by the manager.
•Team Support: Be ready to step in and assist another team member with her tasks when needed.

Support the work of St John Ambulance in your community by volunteering as a Community Volunteer, an exciting new role which is designed to revamp how volunteering looks in the modern world; flexible, innovative and is open for all.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. The Volunteer PR Officer will help raise awareness of the organisation’s mission, activities, and achievements by creating and sharing compelling stories. They will nurture relationships with the media, support communication campaigns, and play a key role in strengthening the organisation’s public profile.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations

• Draft and distribute press releases, articles, and media briefings

• Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, and local media outlets

• Respond promptly and professionally to media enquiries

Content Creation

• Produce engaging content for newsletters, blogs, and social media

• Support the creation and design of promotional materials (posters, flyers, campaign assets)

Campaigns & Events

We’re looking for volunteers who live in Barking and Dagenham and can take a fresh, solution-focused approach to assessing how services are run.

As an Enter & View Volunteer, you’ll:

✔️Visit health and social care settings to gather feedback from patients and residents

✔️Help identify what’s working well and where improvements are needed
