Job description

The Charity:

Aphasia Support is a passionate, community-centred charity. Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of people with aphasia and their carers by providing tailored speech and language therapy and long-term support.

This is an exciting time to join the Aphasia Support as we embark on a new chapter in the charity’s development. We are looking for someone who shares our passion to drive fundraising initiatives that enable our vital services to reach more people, strengthen community connections, and build lasting partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the charity’s future, engaging with donors, supporters, and communities, and helping us achieve our vision of a world where everyone with aphasia can communicate with confidence.

The Role:

Aphasia Support is looking to recruit a Fundraising Coordinator to support the growth and sustainability of the charity’s income by coordinating and delivering a range of fundraising initiatives. The role has a particular focus on corporate engagement, individual giving, fundraising events and appeals, and community fundraising activities.

What’s essential is that you love what you do. We want you to enjoy coming to work every day and to care deeply about your role, your colleagues, and the people we support. If you are motivated, creative, and confident in driving fundraising initiatives, we would love to hear from you.

We welcome applications from people with relevant experience as well as those with transferable skills from different sectors who can bring fresh ideas and energy to the role.

Main Duties

· Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with corporate partners, developing tailored partnership proposals and initiatives.

· Represent Aphasia Support at external events and networking groups, acting as an ambassador for the charity, promoting fundraising initiatives, and building relationships with potential supporters and partners.

· Support the delivery of the charity’s internal and external events - recruiting and stewarding participants, providing guidance on fundraising targets and resources.

· Support the charity’s Bonus Ball and other small lottery activities, sourcing raffle prizes and gifts in kind, ensuring compliance with Gambling Commission regulations.

· Maintain regular communication with donors, including acknowledgment, stewardship, and long-term relationship development to encourage regular giving and donor retention.

· Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities and donor interactions in the CRM system.

· Contribute ideas and insight to support the development of the charity’s fundraising strategy.

· Contribute positively to the wider team, supporting colleagues and promoting a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

· Follow the fundraising code of practice, keeping up-to-date with trends, best practices, and relevant legislation.

Person Specification

Essential:

· Good general level of education or equivalent work-based experience.

· Knowledge of the regulatory environment for fundraising from individuals, including data protection, Gift Aid, and fundraising codes of practice and regulation.

· Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work, handle conflicting demands, and meet tight deadlines.

· Strong administrative and record-keeping skills with keen attention to detail.

· A desire to deliver the highest level of supporter care and engagement.

· Ability to be passionate and inspiring when communicating the work of Aphasia Support.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage different audiences tactfully and effectively.

· Good technical literacy with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

· Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships, working both collaboratively and independently.

· Commitment and enthusiasm for supporting people with aphasia and their carers.

· Access to a car for work purposes and a full, current UK driving licence.

· Willingness to work out of normal office hours, with time off in lieu (TOIL).

Desirable:

· Understanding of aphasia and the challenges faced by those living with the condition and their carers.
