This post will be responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in all aspects of the financial management of the charity. This post will take an active role in supporting both overseas and UK staff with financial management. The post will also be responsible for producing monthly/quarterly project finance reports both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be an analytical, intelligent accountant who will provide high quality support for a range of teams across the organisation. They will have the ability and communication skills to build strong working relationships at all levels across the organisation, including non-finance staff. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience working in a similar role and will preferably be at least part qualified.

The Coventry Diocesan Board of Finance Ltd (DBF) manages the financial affairs and hold the assets of the Diocese and its associated entities as well as managing activities to serve and equip these parishes through various activities and projects. 

The Finance & Governance team handle all matters concerning Diocesan and Cathedral finance including the administration and collection of parish share, paying invoices and expenses, budgeting, annual statutory, management accounts, clergy stipends, staff salaries, advice to parishes on parochial finance matters. 

This role covers the full range of work in an accounting system dealing with input to and output from all ledgers with specific responsibility for the administration of parish shares and fees including the issuing of regular statements to parishes. The purpose is to ensure that the accounting system has accurate and timely financial data which is available to those who require it either for decision-making or for external reports and accounts.

This includes a £300,000 grant from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s Community Ownership Fund, allowing us to soon complete a full structural and interior renovation of our facilities.  Following a Community Asset Transfer, our space will soon triple in size, meaning we can offer more activities and services to more local people. Parallel is seeking an enthusiastic senior web developer who is excited to direct their skills towards our mission of increasing the number and diversity of excellent young mathematicians. 

Founded by bestselling science writer Simon Simon MBE, Parallel is a small but ambitious charitable initiative. We support bright and keen students to develop their mathematical curiosity and problem solving skills beyond the curriculum. This includes puzzle sheets, large interactive webinars, and a tutoring programme (Parallel Academy) which provides small-group tutorials to over 600 state school secondary school students. Our tutorial programme is completely free for the first year, and heavily subsidised thereafter, but cost will never be a barrier to participation.

• Uses Remix, Lambda & GraphQL AppSync
• Is a bespoke learning management system for thousands of 10-17 year old students, and includes functionality such as interactive webinars and personalised maths tutorials with quizzes, tests, reports & data dashboards.
• Has distinct user experiences for students, school teachers, tutors and project administrators.
   

This role:

So far, the Parallel platform has been developed and maintained by a single volunteer developer. As we look to expand the project to reach many thousands more students each year, we are now looking for additional support to help maintain the platform, attend to daily issues and support with new feature development.

The Parallel platform is built with the following technologies:

• Frontend: React, Typescript

• Backend: Node.js, GraphQL (AWS Appsync)

• Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, AppSync, Dynamodb), Firebase

Experience with all of these technologies is desired but not critical. You will be joining a very small team, however, so the ability to work, troubleshoot, & learn independently is crucial.

We expect that this role will require 20 hours per month, with some variation from one week to the next. Our success to date has relied upon the rapid responsiveness of our lead developer and, working under his supervision, we require the same from this role.

About the Program

The Europe Regional Finance program has evolved out of our Financial Regulation and Policy Program that began in 2019 with a narrow focus on European central banks. Since then, we've expanded to shape financial regulation and policy globally to accelerate clean energy and create lasting systemic change in how public finance addresses climate challenges. Now the Europe Regional Finance program will focus on EU Policy and Finance and UK Policy and Finance. 

About The Role

The purpose of this role is to contribute to achieving the objectives in the EU Financial Policy and Regulation project, specifically the work on public finance, fiscal policy and industrial strategy. Together with partners and allies, this role will help stop the political polarisation of net zero and contribute to building the broader case for public investment by establishing and propagating a narrative linking the opportunities of the clean energy transition with improving conditions for households and communities. This role sees the big picture and can translate it into actionable plans for maximum impact.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations. 

About You

You have experience working on public finance, fiscal policy, or industrial strategy. You understand what it takes to hold the big picture, and translate complicated campaign strategies into actionable steps. You enjoy digging into the policy details, but are able to focus on the key ways to move the campaign forward for maximum impact. You’re able to work with diverse networks of organisations from trade unions to business leaders. You have a strong understanding of the political context which dictates our work and what's possible, but also innovative in thinking through solutions and opportunities to do things differently. You have experience working in Europe. You’re flexible and willing to change course when needed and respond to opportunities, but are able to keep the systemic change we want to achieve in mind. 

Key Responsibilities

• Leads on the development and implementation of high-impact campaign strategies and tactics to achieve our programmatic goals, objectives, and key results, in accordance with our values and JEDI commitments. 

• Sources, builds, and maintains strategic relationships with key partners, facilitating collaborative efforts to co-develop and implement strategies.

• In collaboration with the research team, identifies and develops a plan to fulfill complex research and analysis to inform the development of effective campaign strategies and plans.

• Designs and evaluates grant proposals and strategies in collaboration with partners, manages grants and oversees a portfolio of grantees ensuring the delivery of high-impact initiatives to support the movement's impact.

• Drives and facilitates inclusive and transparent strategic decision-making processes, including campaign evaluation and impact reporting.

• Acts as a key influencer, coach, and strategic advisor, and may manage consultants and/or teams with responsibility for the management, development and growth of others.

• Regularly evaluate projects at 3 months, 6 months and annually during the first year and every 6 months after that.

• Aligns programmatic strategies and OKR’s with Sunrise’s Values and mission.

Required skills and experience

• Advanced level campaigning experience in European public finance, industrial strategy, and fiscal policy in a similar role including unpaid, grassroots or lived experience.

• Proven experience researching, building, and incubating new strategies in consultation and coordination with partner organizations.

• Ability to work with the team to execute grants. 

• Ability to successfully manage across cultures, and a track record of creating inclusive work cultures, both internally and with partners.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a very dynamic environment with a high degree of flexibility and agility. 

• A high level of emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal communication and group facilitation skills.

• A passion for action on climate change and a commitment to social justice, equity, diversity.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience grant making would be beneficial. 

• Experience working fundraising would be an advantage.

• Lead clinical supervision and management within the Speech and Language Therapy Team.

• Manage a caseload of pupils with complex needs, supporting families and carers.
• Conduct initial assessments of pupils' speech, language, and communication skills.
• Develop therapy recommendations at universal, targeted, and specialist levels.

• Degree (or equivalent) in Speech & Language Therapy.
• Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area.

• Current registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
• Evidence of relevant postgraduate training (e.g., AAC, dysphagia, TEACCH).
• Significant post-qualification experience in various clinical settings.

The Role

The Head of Operations role holder will lead the Facilities, Logistics and Welcome Desk teams in the effective delivery of the day-to-day operational functions. They will also be integral in developing and implementing building and facilities improvement strategies and lead on the SU's compliance measures, including Health and Safety and Governance. Reporting into the Directors of Social Enterprise and People, Equity and Organisational Development, the role holder will work closely with senior leadership colleagues, and also manage a number of direct reports from their areas. 

We are looking for someone with experience of managing, influencing and motivating different groups of staff, stakeholders and managers to deliver on operational and strategic plans within a complex organisation. Knowledge of managing and reporting on different and multiple legislative frameworks specifically around Health and Safety, Business Continuity and Major Incident planning is required for this role, as is understanding of managing capital projects through working with facilities teams and external contractors.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Coordinator to support our care teams in delivering a high-quality family support service in the region, working with families and professionals to ensure the families we support have access to the services they need.

Reporting to the Family Support Manager and working in partnership with health, education, and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for sourcing practical goods and services in the region, applying for grants and benefits, as well as working with other charities or community providers to obtain goods, equipment or funds for families that Rainbow Trust do not provide directly.

Having worked in a stressful or emotionally-demanding environment with an understanding of the complexities of working with children and families, you will have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and strong networks with other organisation to provide meaningful assistance to the families we support.

Princess Alice Hospice is one of the top ten adult hospices in the UK, providing specialist palliative care and support to a community of more than a million people living in Surrey, South West London and Middlesex. 

The Night Response Team (NR) provides specialist on call palliative nursing care between the hours of 22.00 and 08.00, 7 days a week for palliative care patients known to Princess Alice Hospice.

The Team also provides nursing care and assistance to palliative and general patients who are referred from the district nursing service, the OOH’s service (111), local ambulance services SECAMB and LAS, Mole Valley Telecare and Tunstall Community Alarm services. This includes palliative patients who are not known to PAH. Night Response visit patients in their own homes as well as in care and residential homes.

A Night Response shift will be covered by two members of staff per night, usually one RN and an SHCA, occasionally two RN’s.

We are based in an office on the in-patient unit at the Hospice. We receive calls, provide information, support and advice to patients, families, and other health care professionals, whilst visiting patients as required throughout the night.

The Night Response Service brings the skills and expertise of our highly trained and dedicated specialist team directly into the patients homes. This allows patients, their families and carers access to the vital support they need at home, when time matters most, providing the opportunity for patients to remain at home and reducing the need for hospital admissions.  

 About the role: 

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, dynamic and versatile Staff Nurse with excellent interpersonal, communication and telephone triage skills, to join our Night Response Team.

Experience in caring for patients who are terminally ill is essential. You will need to be able to work autonomously and have an excellent understanding of care provision in the community and be involved in auditing the service provided. 

You will need a full driving license with a maximum of 6 points for use of the hospice vehicle (automatic)

You will be motivated, a flexible thinker, and able to adapt to new ways of providing care to reach more patients within the community. You will have excellent communication skills and enjoy assessing the needs of patients, families, and carers.

The Finance Officer will join a small and dynamic team that covers Finance, Human Resources, IT and Business Operations. The Finance & Operations team play a critical role by running the day-to-day operations and providing the infrastructure that enables the continued delivery of the Trust’s mission and objectives.

The Sutton Trust is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join the team and provide crucial support on a range of key finance processes. This is a fast-paced and hands-on role that requires an understanding of basic finance processes. You can expect a steep learning curve in a passionate and supportive working environment.

We have recently introduced a new accounting system and are looking for someone who is willing to learn, make the most of the improved technology and contribute to automating (and improving) our finance processes. Main duties

• Maintaining the Purchase Ledger including processing supplier invoices, staff expense claims, grant and bursary payments, reconciling statements and making the relevant payments
• Maintaining the Sales Ledger including raising invoices and allocating receipts
• Cash management including checking bank transactions daily, allocating transactions on the accounting system and producing regular bank reconciliations. Paying in cheques and reconciling floats, if required
• Maintaining accurate records of both unrestricted and restricted fund transactions including receipts, grants, staff expenses, overheads and cash
• Providing timely and accurate financial support to the Programmes, Development and Research teams to assist them with forecasting, budgeting, reconciliation and (donor) reporting
• Supporting with the month end procedures such as balance sheet reconciliations, depreciation, month end adjustments, salary and overhead allocations
• Gathering monthly payroll information and reviewing monthly payroll reports
• Assisting with the administration of the pension scheme and of employee benefits
• Preparing quarterly Gift Aid claims and maintaining the relevant supporting documentation
• Assisting with the year-end statutory accounts preparation, audit and budget setting process
• Ensuring that the filing is done in a timely manner and that all paperwork is up to date
• Proactively updating your own knowledge in relation to the role, identifying and undertaking appropriate training
• Keeping up to date with legislation, policies and procedures relevant to the role and the Trust’s work

Terms of Appointment

• Contract: Full-time, Permanent (part-time considered)
• Salary: £33,000-£36,000
• Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
• Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and may also be required to attend events / meetings outside of their normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends

How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.
