Make a meaningful impact with Macmillan
At Macmillan, we're here to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer – and we’re not standing still. We’re evolving, innovating, and transforming how we deliver support across the UK.

Join our Legal team as a Senior Solicitor/Lawyer and be at the heart of shaping the future of how we work with partners, invest in communities, and fund transformative projects across the NHS and beyond.

About the role
In this high-impact role, you’ll use your extensive legal expertise to support our new organisational strategy. You’ll be instrumental in helping us design and implement:

  • Grant-making frameworks and partnership agreements

  • Innovative social investment models for the NHS

  • Contracts with a range of external stakeholders

You’ll play a key role in enabling Macmillan’s strategic goals through robust legal advice, high-quality drafting, and pragmatic problem-solving. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your commercial legal skills in a purpose-driven context – helping us reach and support more people affected by cancer.

About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales
  • Experience in contract and commercial law
A track record of drafting grant-making agreements and/or social investment deals would be hugely advantageous
  • Ideally, working knowledge of charity law and experience in-house or with public/voluntary sector bodies (e.g. charities, NHS, statutory agencies)
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own caseload, while contributing to a collaborative, values-driven team

In return, we offer a range of benefits including:

  • 25 days holiday plus flexible bank holiday options, increasing by 1 day every year of service up to 30 days
  • Pension matched up to 7.5%
  • 120+ learning and development offers, with access to external professional qualifications
  • Flexible working patterns, such as compressed hours, flexibility to work earlier or later around our core working hours of 10am-4pm
  • Holiday buying and selling scheme, life insurance, free wills, retail discounts and much more

Recruitment Process
Application deadline: Sunday 26th October 2025
First interview dates: early November 2025

To ensure fairness and consistency to select the best candidate for this role, all our applications are anonymised up until an interview has been confirmed.
